Do I think Lucas will be available...........Hmmmm. Maybe. Do we need a LT. Yes. I already wrote do you on my thoughts about DB.

An interesting discussion would be trading for Dillard. Philly won't have a lot of incentive to trade Dillard as he is cheap backup insurance. Would Dillard be worth taking a bit of a flyer on, I think certainly. We could likely get him for what, a third round, maybe fourth rounder. Then move Stone over to RT or go with Shell for one more year. (Stone is going to need some time on the field in order to be evaluated as a starter or not).

Would Russ like this? Maybe he would not be trilled by having two very inexperienced tackles. His vote would count, probably a lot.

The upside I see for Dillard over Lucas is that Dillard a) had a very good collage career b) has some NFL experience c) has played ok when called upon d) was a 1st rounder.

Could Dillard have a good fresh start and succeed with good coaching from Dickerson. Yah, I think so. Pete seems to do a pretty good job of re-starting some guys careers.

I would take a chance on Dillard. Your thoughts?

Great question, one I hadn't thought to address in the write-up. Certainly trading for Dillard has to be a consideration by Pete and John already. There's one downside to acquiring first round busts that I think gets overlooked WAY TOO OFTEN when these trade/releases happen: these players usually suck. I know, "but first round pick." Ultimately, do they suck, relative to other NFL players? Yes, because teams rarely, rarely, rarely let go of players who are a) good or b) they think have potential to be good. Abe Lucas has far more potential to not suck.

Good comments Kenneth. The 'suck' part certainly could pertain to Dillard. Lucas certainly comes with a clean slate and could be moulded the way the Seahawks want him moulded.
