If McCall hopes to make it in the NFL, he better not take hits like the one in the play you posted. That might work in college, but not under the really big lights. Remember when Wentz looked so great against Seattle until he fumbled as he was about to cross the goal line. Soon after he was injured and out for the rest of the season. Tried to do too much. This kid needs to learn to slide.

That was the first game of his career. I think he probably learned not to do that again, haven't seen him do it since that I can think of.

You know more than I. I've not seen him play (other than your clips).

You made a good point, it just so happens to have been his first game, which you couldn't have known. I've definitely docked a lot of QBs in the past for not knowing (RGIII, Lamar, Carson) when to take your yards and give up. Wilson was a master at this.

He really was (and is). He was very smart about taking those sorts of chances. Occasionally he was willing to take a hit for an extra yard or two but only when necessary. He knew how to take a tackle too. Plus he had a good, sturdy build.

Will be interesting to see if his career resumes its 2021 trajectory in 2023 or if he's losing his edge. No question he's lost some speed and quickness; we'll see if he can compensate. They'll have a tandem of Williams and Gordon at running back. We'll see how much they can open his game up, since he's so good at play action. Also, can they help with pass blocking in a significant way or get open to receive passes? Can Wilson begin to take advantage of short pass opportunities?

I'm guessing he'll come out of the gate strong in 2023, as he did in 2021. Then teams will figure out how to defend against whatever strategy Denver has cooked up and we'll see how well they adjust.

Please, please, no Ohio State QBs. I can't remember the last one that became a franchise QB. Hurts, Fields, Haskins Caldwell Jones etal are or were average at best. Great examples of good college QBs on great teams.Young could be the exemption! With young QBs it's always a crap shoot. Trading for a proven veteran ala Denver is less risky.
