“Once you look past his size...”

Pretty hard to look past that though? The guy might like to hit like a hammer but what toll would that take on someone as slight as him? I’m not sold, but I guess it depends how much faith you can put in Bryant and Love(?) - which I think is enough. Ringo strikes me as the more Seahawky pick. 6’2”, over 200lbs and a 4.36 in the 40 (Witherspoon ran between 4.41 - 4.43 at his pro day, but understand that’s not the important measurable in the slot).

But that begs the question - are you taking Ringo at 5? No. So down the snake and back to square one.

I saw the Dan Viens tweet and immediately knew that SJ had started influencing the draft cognoscenti (nod to the Old Zeusser).

Is there a world where we take Carter at 5 and trade up to get Witherspoon soon after?

Need to know: When the 'Hawks draft Bijan that faint noise you hear in the background will be me screaming "I told you so".

I am going to be attending my Mom's memorial back east, leaving Thursday the 27th, coming back Monday, so I am not going to be online hardly AT ALL during the draft.

I will be looking forward to reading all about it though, here on Seaside Joestradamus!

Thank you, Ken.

My Mom died in January, it has taken this long to arrange a memorial. I miss her. At 91 she had a good run, and I know I did everything I could to make her last two years as happy as they possibly could be. I should write a book.

I'm good with Witherspoon, and your article just jacked him up even more! If he's like Cam...and with that effort/tenacity/passion/leadership...we need that all day long. Anderson or Carter okay too, or whomever PC/JS feel is the best defensive fit to cash in a rare high first round pick on. At this point, my only desire is that they pick defense with their highest pick...not a friggin' QB. Those that will be available don't cut it. For me, the best part of reading your stuff is I now know WAY MORE than I ever have about the draft, needs, and players. That will make this years draft a hell of a lot more fun! Not just what the Seahawks do...the other teams as well. You've opened my mind to how complicated and critical and risky the draft business is...will be fun to watch and then re-read some of your posts.

And to follow up...I will NOT go the next step and start watching film and reading other analysts and mocks and all that crap to try to become an 'expert' myself...to actually 'guess' what Seattle or any team should or will do. That's way too much work. At the end of the day only the coaches and managers know what they are going to do...and they get it wrong all the time! Instead, fun to watch you and your readers prognosticate...and educate me! Thanks all.

I agree with your take on the drafting skills of JS/PC. It's easier to draft well when you are middle up in the order AND your roster has a lot of holes in it. It is another thing entirely when you draft at or near the bottom of the round & your current roster if full of Pro-bowlers. They also only tend to have 5-10 players on their board who are 1st round talents so their bottom of the first round picks were always considered reaches because they don't see a huge difference between 1.28 talent & 2.28 talent, where the difference between 1.5 & 2.5 can be huge. I think last year, they were released from the burden of having to be more particular in what positions they are looking for. They have set themselves up nicely for this draft and can take BPAs most of the way but no talent evaluator on the planet can predetermine if a player has another gear left to play faster, play against faster & stronger opponents, survive the brutal NFL schedule & stay healthy.

PCJS critics love to cite the 2013 draft when compiling their list of failures. What is far less often noted, is that the 2013 draft class as a whole was one of the worst draft classes of all time. Anyone who has compiled such a list includes 2013, and it's usually near the top.

You were just warming up, and I was just getting excited when you ended this like you were late for work. To be honest, (gawd I hate that expression, and next time I will just edit it out) I need to go back and reread the Charlie Jones article, and then reread this one because right now, I'm not sure what you were saying or trying to say or what the theme was or anything. But you were just warming me up.

Great early insight on the dog, Witherspoon! Kelee Ringo is another dog and man’s (Pete) best friend at 6’2, 207 pounds and 4.3 speed. Pete could like the intrigue of cleaning up his “vulnerable” game to unlock the two-time national champs potential.

An upgrade at CB, including selecting Witherspoon at #5 is a scary thought for the rest of the league.

Do you think we would be able to flip first round picks with Detroit to pick Witherspoon/Bijan and improve our 2nd pick a couple slots?

Devon Witherspoon is also a very Dan Campbell player and fits a Lions need. I don't know who the Lions would be trading up for if not Witherspoon.

I don’t think Detroit would gain enough to justify such a trade from their side of things.
