Geno Smith's free agent value is dwindling as other QBs step up
From Gardner Minshew to Brock Purdy, the NFL QB market is making an immense turn towards end of the season
For Geno Smith to be the hottest quarterback on the free agent or trade market, Geno Smith has to be the hottest quarterback on the free agent and trade market. But even though Geno will be representing the NFC in the Pro Bowl, he won’t be the first choice for every team that is looking for a new quarterback in 2023.
Or the second option or the third.
The Seattle Seahawks can work to keep Geno off of the market, they can tag him and hope to work out a trade with another team on the market, but there has to be a dwindling sense of urgency on the part of Seattle to keep Geno next year. Leaving out the 2023 NFL Draft fow now, as long as there is an inordinate number of interesting quarterbacks who become available in free agency and trade, there isn’t going to be as much interest in the NFC’s number one quarterback in the Pro Bowl.
As we approach the end of the regular season, the landscape of the 2023 quarterback market is changing immensely in the final weeks. These are all the “veteran” names to consider.
