I'm a realist, the hawks need to retool at QB. I'll make some mad and disagree but they need a Starting QB through the draft. I'm hoping for a losing season this year to draft a top college QB with our first pick in 2023 draft.

This is the first time I've wanted the Hawks to lose (Read "Suck for Luck").

Geno gets a 10 for the first half, 6 for the second, so…. 8?!

Clint Hurtt, the D looked solid and if they clean up a few things could be dominant. They are FAST.

re-do on the play Jamal got hurt. Really feel bad for him.

The Sneak! Get a 1st down, score a TD and the whole game is different.

Who did better Waldron or Hurtt is such a good question. Both did fine. Waldron’s offense only mustered 17 points and zero in the second half, but seemed efficient with some potential. Hurtt’s defence only gave up 16 points but without two fumbles at the one and a toe on the white paint it could have been much worse. Slight edge to Waldron.

Geno gets an 11 for the first half and a 7 overall. He played better than expected but even at that we scored 17 points. Not sure how many games that wins.

If we win Sunday I predict we will start the season 8-1. The bolts will probably get us. Maybe the the Saints as it is at their house. If we are good enough to beat the 49ers I think we can take those other guys. Injury to Adams is a big setback to our defense.

We won, but Gino's yards per pass completions were the lowest in the league! Opposing DCs will stack the line of scrimmage daring Gino to throw the ball deep. That also hurts the run game! Enjoy this win , I don't see many more.

Forget what the stats say, if you could give Geno Smith a score between 1-10 for last night only, what would you grade him?

I'm going 7/10, because I have a very high standard for QB play. The first half was good, though again, Geno rarely seemed to go through a progression to my eyes. Loved seeing the improvisation, hopefully he can continue to add that to his game. My biggest concern though, was the 2nd half. 6/10 for 37 yds (I think) and 0 points is really bad. The D did great to force bad plays, but the Broncos had multiple opportunities to win that game. If Russ was on target (I think he will be when he gets more reps with WRs) and they don't make once in 40+ years fumbling mistakes, I think we'd have been in trouble. I'd like to see us be able to score in any quarter, not just the first two.

I think both will get 1000 yards

It only takes 58 yards & some inches as a game average to hit 1000 in the season. I think they will get there if they want it bad enough.

It was a great win but I'm really, really bummed that we've lost Jamal for the season. I felt like the whole defensive scheme change was done largely to free up Adams to do what he does best and I was excited to see him challenge the "worst trade ever" narrative. Dynamic of a player as he can be, it really does look like an awful trade at this point with little chance of redemption.

To keep this from being completely negative, we won the game I most wanted to win on the whole schedule, our division games suddenly look more winnable, and we haven't even seen KW3 yet.

Yeah, it's hard to see people already going to the "well the seahawks could cut him eventually" expectation. He was having a game. He'll be back.

I agree. I was really looking forward to watching Jamal play this season and challenge the narrative, as Chuck stated. If we had legitimate super bowl expectations this would have been devastating. Instead, it just sucks for Jamal and lessens the hawks entertainment value. He will indeed be back.

Did anybody even notice that the hometown O got right on it out of the gate? They did not light it up (scoreboard-wise) but this was truly a welcomed and actually rather refreshing sight. Hopefully it becomes a trend!

Damn, I blew his age. I guess that raises the question- can he "grow out " of the injury bug he is experiencing? (Maybe Penny has but this year will be telling). I think Adam's contract is such that we would have a dead cap hit of "only " $7.1M if we were to cut him prior to June 2024. Guess that means he has next season to prove he can stay healthy.

I don't think a player can ever really prove that right? One season would not prove anything about the next season. Or the next game. Ultimately the Seahawks should be more worried if he'll ever come back with the same intensity. Careers are short.

I'm giving Geno a 10 for completely exceeding expectations. Sure, he's still Geno. He can't do what he can't do. But he did what he can and did it about as well as possible. Great work, Geno!

It is not as though the Seahawks spanked the Broncos. Yes, we won - even a close win or for that matter, a truly unlikely/remarkable win equals the same as a blow out. Any and every week-one result should be taken with a grain of salt and perhaps a shit-load of garlic too.

The day after the first weekend of every NFL season is chalk full of over reaction. Denver's Hackett is the zaniest coach ever! Geno F-ing Smith blows Russell away! Jamal Adams always get hurt! Well that one sure seems true...

Look, because of a new QB, new coaches, unfamiliar connection with his receivers and the Monday night crowd all gave us reasonable prognasticators a feeling this would be a win. The same sane treatment looking at next week's game tells us that a SF win is likely.

Looking at this year as the late John Clayton would, I have come up with an 8 win season - with 9 victories being a possibility. So is only four...but that will be less likely. Remembering that in the NFL injuries happen leads us to all different possibilities. Unfortunately, Jamal IS out for at least a while. Hopefully this is one of very few big blows our roster will have to absorb.

By the way, the 2023 draft will take place and Denver's pics are likely to be very close to our natural selections. Their likely 9-win season will barely miss the playoffs. So we end up with two draft pics in next year's first round that are each in the mid-teens. Another two very nice second rounders. Don't trade up...keep building like champions do.

That is cool by me as we will be able to pic from a 1983-like QB draft. No need to trade up. No need to shamefully tank games. Just play out the 2022 season, miss the playoffs and get a QB that will be on a rookie deal - do not overshoot for a Christian Ponder-type.

Russell was NOT elite until well after hoisting the Lombardi trophy. Elite is Not needed to win Superbowls if you have a well-rounded team that boasts a truly bad-ass defense. We do not need, or will be be getting a first year stud QB - they never are in their first year. But we will be in draft range to get a first year Patrick Mahomes or a Josh Allen type. Both of them came up in the early-ish teens.

All is good enough to enjoy and we Are on the way to future Superbowl appearances. Just not this year...lets quell further over-reactions. Thank you Kenneth for this forum for passionate fans to be both well-informed and to share. Kudos!

yep yep - marginal teams can be dangeRuss (I know you like puns) as they get confidence. As you mentioned earlier, Pete Carroll is our secret weapon that will lead to a decent season. The men in Action Green will indeed have limitations but they will ride a wave of belief!
