It’s amazing how different the team looks when you get 4 quarters of “Good Geno”—no turnovers and nothing too egregious in terms of his decision-making. So HOT for Geno!
I was impressed with Jerrel at RT even though it wasn’t Nick Bosa on the other side.
I was also impressed with Jobe at CB. Not much given up and some plays made.
But overall the D was HOT! The stats are a bit skewed because the D score gave Atlanta consecutive opportunities without the Seattle offense getting an opportunity. Picking Cousins twice is not easy to do, and he has had some very good games vs the Seahawks iirc.
Jerrel played without a net, as old man Peters was held out of the lineup. Risky move by Coach. With all their injuries, Atlanta was a good team to bring out 3 utterly new players from the practise squad. I saw nothing regrettable, even found a few smiles. The Team is gelling.
Loved Geno’s comment after JSN pass. It went something like this; “I don’t get the same results when I throw into double coverage”. Sorry I can’t remember the exact quote but it had me laughing.
Nice to see the Niners going down in flames at home to KC. I won’t be a ‘buyer’ in the Seahawks as a playoff team though until they beat the Niners if they can in a few weeks.
McCaffrey hocked body parts getting to the Super Bowl last year. I figgerd the bill would come due and it has. I don't see them fielding everybody healthy for a while, if ever.
This was a business game for the hawks. I thought they would win. I think Atlanta is still good but it is a really good matchup for the hawks. Atlanta has no pass rush and Geno will dice any time you don’t pressure him all game.
Was it a good game? Yes
But this should be expected with a team with this much talent coming off a rest advantage similar to what the giants had against us.
Season is still on track … need to win at least 1 of the next 2 … go into the bye … get healthier and go into San Fran and win.
Good work … good all around game. Think we mostly got the better of the whistles and turnover “luck” was in our favor (and we caused that)
Also great plays in there from Boye/Hall. K9 grab. Geno throw plus DK catch at end of first. DK made a couple great catches and a couple he maybe could have - which is good! JSN didn’t make a catch he maybe could’ve. But not going to kill the guy in a win especially since we barely had to pass the ball in second half.
Hat's off to Mac for knowing when to bring rookies into the NFL level of play. Jerrel going from Div II college ball to being an effective MFL RT is all on him and the coaching. Suddenly, I am not so nervous about when Abe can come back. Hat's off to forcing 3 punts from a team that totaled 2 in 6 games. (Okay, the first was gifted to us after 3 penalties backed them up enough). Hat's off to our Big Men rattling Cousins.
Jerrell was actually good and Stone Forsythe has been decent too, at least much better than the disaster I expected. The only significant problem on the OL right now is Tomlinson. He has to be the worst starting guard in the league.
Great win against a QB, a long with Dak Prescot, who are afflicted with " choking in the clutch syndrome. " The bye is comming at the right time to get our starters back. Nice game from the 4th string RT. I think he may be there for a while.
The 49ers aren't the same team offensively without Christian Mc. and we may be comming into our own with the new staff and schemes.
Big Mike played pretty solid at RT today. You saw some really good snaps, and a few less good, but all things considered (rookie, 1st start, 6th round draft pick, D-II player) that might have been the best RT play we've seen from a Seahawk all year. And as he said, that's his floor not his ceiling. The young man knows he's going to be good, and isn't shy about talking about that. Love the confidence.
Why, why, why do we continue to play Bradford at RG when Haynes (by my untrained eye) appears to be playing so much better. I think once Haynes and Jarrell both have a full NFL offseason without the distraction of prepping for the NFL draft, they will be NFL starters, if they aren't by the seasons end. You have to squint a bit, but the right side of the line might be in good shape before long. Even without Abe! I'll bet you didn't see that coming! I sure didn't.
One play worth re-watching is the TD catch by K9. First, the left edge of the Falcons gets a crazy jump on the snap. At first I thought he had to be offside, but I've re-watched a few times and I think he might have just timed up the snap really well. Second, Big Mike is soundly beaten because of the jump the edge gets, but his athleticism allows him to reach him just enough to push him past Geno, who has stepped up in the pocket. He then seals off the edge so he can't run around the block and come at Geno from the backside. Third, I don't know whether Geno saw the jump the edge got or not, but he clearly felt the pressure as he stepped up pretty early, and good thing he did. Nice interior protection is required to allow this. Geno then lobs a good enough ball for K9 to make the terrific catch. All around pretty impressive play. Almost a disaster play, but everyone did just enough to make it work.
Conner Williams is quietly (like is always the case with the o-line) playing better. 'Nuff said.
The defense was better in the second half because they started tackling better. The run fits weren't horrible for the most part, but when you get there you have to get the RB on the ground. They did a much better job of this in the second half, which opened up the pass rush on 3rd downs. Mike MacDonald has talked about this for weeks. You start playing better on 1st and 2nd downs, and all of a sudden everything opens up. I can't be too critical though, the RB's for Atlanta are really good.
Happy we got the win. Tough game next week, but looking forward to it.
Clearly Grubb is clearly a better evaluator of these things than I am, but I just don't see it. Haynes is an ascending player and Bradford I think is what he is. Again, what do I know, but this is likely to be 3 games in a row where Haynes grades out better than Bradford. Grubb obviously sees things I don't. I hope he is right and I'm wrong.
Firing people was easy. Laying people off was agonizing. Let's trust Grubb and his Staff will do all they can to develop the young guys. Just making this team is no trifling.
The O-line did a decent job , allot of that goes to Jerrel doing a decent job. Alot of help in the first half ,but they let him play pretty normal without as much help in the second and pretty much held up- They obviously still need better guard play if they want to be able to consistently run the ball. If they want to be a Good Offense then they need to run the ball which requires better Guard play to accomplish that- Go Hawks!

Only really bad decision Geno had was the intentional grounding call.
Without Byron Murphy... 0-3
With Byron Murphy... 4-0
Shoutout to Jerrel!
Did we elevate Jobe from practice squad?
True! Yes, elevation.
Thx!
Loved Geno’s comment after JSN pass. It went something like this; “I don’t get the same results when I throw into double coverage”. Sorry I can’t remember the exact quote but it had me laughing.
Haha
It was a very satisfying game to watch. If they could improve the run defense I’d be more inclined think farther into the post season.
umm, Bijan Robinson. He and Kenneth Walker III are Beasts.
Nice to see the Niners going down in flames at home to KC. I won’t be a ‘buyer’ in the Seahawks as a playoff team though until they beat the Niners if they can in a few weeks.
The Rams still concern me more than the 49ers. When was the last time the Seahawks beat a Rams team with either Stafford or Goff?
True. When the Rams get their injured players back they are going to be a handful. Without Donald though their D doesn’t scare anyone.
Hawks= 7 TO’s, 20 sacks and 3TDs in 7 games
Rams= 8 TO’s, 11 sacks and 2TDs in 6 games
The defense the “Rams didn’t even try to fix”
McCaffrey hocked body parts getting to the Super Bowl last year. I figgerd the bill would come due and it has. I don't see them fielding everybody healthy for a while, if ever.
Plus, forty games in two years and that brutal SB.

Bobo proved himself human by dropping a very catchable ball today. Or maybe he was tossing DK a bone...? Nah.

Kudos to Coach MM, and the Hawks👍👍
"You Don't See Runningbacks Make That Kind Of Catch !" WhooHoo !
A shoutout to Devin Witherspoon for hustling 'n making the block that sprung the Derick Hall TD.
HooYah!
A good team win. The only disappointments were Spoon ( bad tacking and angles ) and JSN.
I loved the balance with run af pass and decent O line play.
Convincing road wins make such a difference for a team’s confidence…I think.
Great win against a QB, a long with Dak Prescot, who are afflicted with " choking in the clutch syndrome. " The bye is comming at the right time to get our starters back. Nice game from the 4th string RT. I think he may be there for a while.

I screamed "GWAN SPOON!" so loud during the fumble return that I scared the cats, my wife and probably the neighbours - awesome effort
Sorry, I sent this twice...
A few useless thoughts.

“Why, why, why do we continue to play Bradford at RG when Haynes (by my untrained eye) appears to be playing so much better.”
Bradford is more physical and the coaching staff values that. Grubb seems definite that Haynes has a ways to go.
Clearly Grubb is clearly a better evaluator of these things than I am, but I just don't see it. Haynes is an ascending player and Bradford I think is what he is.
