One blown coverage that set up Charb's TD and another blown coverage that set up DK's TD....take those away and we might very well be 0-2, but that's football. I just like that we seem to be making changes and adjustments well, we stay competitive and late in games we don't get shy. I like where we are at and I think if we can stay reasonably healthy there's a shot were competitive this year.
Those guys are exactly right. Why Mayo wouldn’t run run after Mike Mac made the first mistake by not calling a TO is odd.
But no one yet has pointed out or at least asked golden boy Mike Mac … why didn’t you call a TO after the Patriots ran the ball for 2 yards from their own 8 yard line with 1:37 left in the first half?
Mike Mac has said he has a guy named Brian crunching the analytics numbers. So what were they worried about and why didn’t they call a TO?
As bellicheck points out - these little mistakes can matter.
I still wonder who else out there got off scot-free for worse emails. Jon's biggest mistake was using derogatory language to describe Roger Goodell. I'd wager the anti-gay comments would have been allowed to slide had he not angered the boss. Obviously still not cool and incredibly unprofessional. Just saying that I find it hard to believe out of the over half million emails they pored over that his were the pinnacle. These were communications with Dan Synder and the Washington Redskins organization for crying out loud. Just the things we've heard come out of that organization are vile and often criminal, and we may never know how much stayed buried with Synder's resignation. If there was ever a reason to just nuke an entire NFL team, that was it.
All that said, he deserved punishment and I don't feel bad for him for looking like an ass. And I'll be perfectly happy to watch him break down football rather than coach it. It might be his true calling.
Speaking of looking like an ass, his haircut is distractingly weird since I saw him last. I can't put my finger on it, but I'm pretty sure I don't want to anyway.
Wins are so hard to get in the NFL and we as fans tend to overreact to both wins and losses. As Ken’s article over at TST says, an 0-2 record for the Rams is no reason to panic, but the fans on that site are ready to throw in the towel after a couple of losses (and the injuries it must be said). Still, a bounce or two and who knows? I would not count the Rams out vs the Niners this week at all, since I remember what our expectations were prior to the first game last season.
So a couple of plays either way could have made the difference last Sunday… and yeah 2-0 feels different than 1-1 for sure.
When bad things happen we tend to say “bad luck” but when good things happen we tend to find a rationale that explains how we were successful, but it is just two sides of the same coin.
How is it I just now realized Kenneth wrote for TST? That's gotta be a blast as a Seahawk fan, I know that as commissioner for my fantasy league my weekly writeup is 80% devoted to getting inside the heads of my league mates... making heads explode at TST would be awesome!
I think Wilson was indeed one of the best players Sherm ever played with but the play call at the end of SB XLIX which everyone on the planet thought should have been two more hand offs to Marshawn (who then would have been the SB MVP) but instead was a TD pass (so that Wilson would be the SB MVP) buried Carroll and especially Wilson among their teammates forever. Seattle was never the same again and the accusations spoken and unspoken were the death
That, and Sherm practiced against Wilson for years and for whatever reason (sheer competitiveness?) never seemed to truly respect him.
I appreciate Belichick’s knowledge and honesty. But a small part of me sort of cringed at him pointing out all of Mayo’s mistakes. He mentored Mayo and worked with him for a decade and a half. It’s not like Mayo fired him.
It struck me as a bit out of line, considering he taught Mayo how to coach. It had a bit of sour grapes tinge to it, but that may have just been the surface-level optics. It has to be a hard balancing act to breakdown/criticize former teammates, colleagues, and students. I would think Belichick would be in a no-win situation when examining Mayo (criticized for being too hard or too soft on him) and could possibly try to stay clear and claim partiality to avoid even doing the piece at all.
Theres no two doubts about Wilson being a elite QB, was he one of Sherms buddies in the locker room not at all. But is the NFL a QB driven league or a CB driven league. Sherm was great Wilson was better!
If the Hawks would have kicked the FG in their first drive of the second half ,they would have won in regulation. Thats why you always take the points until the 4th quarter, then if you need to take chances or trick plays or what ever ,that makes sense. Otherwise Always take the points!
Always liked Gruden’s show when he brought in college quarterbacks and critiqued their games. May the 12s be with you and Go Seahawks!

Mayo big time bailed him out. But it’s about the process. What was the thinking? What was the process? And why not call a timeout?
Dang, Jon Gruden is fun to watch! What an entertainer. Thanks, KenJoe.
Yes he is.

Still, I can’t help but wonder if they are related sites.

Great content SSJ.

But I guess it comes back to honesty. So…OK.

I think you missed an opportunity for a fun headline with this game. Maybe:
MacDonald's open, no Mayo
No offense; Kraft, Mayo not good enough.
Meyers gives Pats a close shave at Gilette
