I loved that 1984 team. I was never a big fan of Krieg (the Largent stare down of Krieg after giving up his body to make an errant throw was legendary. I’m 18 screaming profanities at Kreig and just being amazed at too slow Largent). Quick side note. Yes JSN is absolutely incredible. But with Zorn or Krieg as his QB, sorry, Largent still better. But man my Hawks with Largent. Dr Dan (everyone knows he’s getting those short yard 3rd down plays and isn’t stopped. Forget tush push, barnyard, WSU Dr Dan, gets the FD!). Charle Young/Mike Tice. UW Paul Skansi. Randall Morris (great first name). If only…. :-((. Curt Warner…. But that defense!!!! MY MAN JACOB!!!! Little Joe Nash blocking FG after FG. Jeff Bryant. The original original Mike Jackson. But that DB room. Dave Brown one of the quietest INT elites in NFL history. Simpson. Harris. And the mix of Bam Kam and sniper ET HOf great Kenny Easley. If only. Yes they ran into one of the greatest QBs ever, but if we had Warner in that game at his almost Barry level cutbacks. What ifs but legend. Curt was absolutely amazing.
There you go drawing parallels to 2013… “Don’t give me hope…” (anyone know the movie?)
Seriously though the 2013 NFC championship game is my best Seahawks memory. I knew they would smoke the Broncos after that game.
This team has similar vibes for sure. This team has a more explosive offensive and also an elite D. Not sure they are as physical and scary as LOB but it’s close.
For me, teams have ebbs and flows and I feel the recent adversity will help them peak towards end of season (and they should be healthier too 🤞🏻).
I love this article. Especially the end of the article discussion of turnovers. I got into a mini exchange with I think an Indy fan about my opinion the Seahawks were at least the equal of the Rams and outplayed them for three quarters of the game against them. I understand the point many people have been making that the Seahawks win even when they lose the turnover battle, but those wins were not against elite teams. We lost the turnover battle against the Bucs and the Rams, and probably the 49ers. I think Getting Shaheed more involved and getting Horton back will make it easier on Darnold, as will continued improvement in the running game. Horton can get separation from defenders, as can JSN and Shaheed. Kupp has difficulty separating against man coverage especially.
I watched the last two Falcons games yesterday getting ready for that game in two weeks. I’m convinced the Falcons are a better team by a significant margin with Cousins out there. Bad for us, but also bad for the Rams chance of finding their next QB, which I feel was the reason for getting that 1st round pick.
He wasn’t the person I was responding to. It was on SB Nation.Someone posted how the Rams are the class of the NFL and better than anyone else. I posed a counter, the Seahawks could be as good, even better, basically arguing the same thing I did in a comment to a Super Joe Q & A post. The fellow from Indy responded and trashed the Seahawks and Darnold. I made a statement that if the Seahawks can be better protecting the ball, they are the better team. I cut off the argument since it was obvious he was looking to get under my skin, and it wasn’t worth arguing with someone who makes ridiculous claims. The original poster came to my defense saying he was fine with my opinion, then he trashed him as well. You have to be careful when you post anywhere. Some Purple Heart want to start trouble. To me, turnovers are the only area the Rams are a better team than the Seahawks. We’re better on defense, better on offense and better on special teams.
I think that's the problem. They gave us certain things out there to bait us into getting impatient and going downfield - where they were waiting. Counted on their DL to get enough pressure for not too much to open up. But their whole idea was to get us to go downfield, even if that meant losing the yards battle and the time of possession battle etc etc. I think with McVey you gotta just take what they give you, whatever it is, bc they know what you like to do and are waiting for it. Just a little more patience and we win that game but we got baited into the turnovers. Just can't resist the downfield strikes and explosive plays
Exactly. People are crowning the Rams and everyone seems to be jumping on that bandwagon. I was just trying to say, not so fast. We can’t continue to lose the turnover battle and continue to turn it over 2, 3 or 4 times a game. I was clear about that. Zero INTs against the Titans is a good start. Let’s double down on the Vikings.
It’s going to take work and discipline. It’s not something that can be fixed with a snap of the fingers. Everyone needs to keep working at it. Coaches and players. We could easily have a top 5 offense, top 5 defense and top 5 special teams. The work on the running game is paying off. No reason why we can’t cut down on turnovers and slam the door on the Rams, Lions, Packers and Eagles.
This is our first year with this offense. If we can retain our starters and most of our depth next season, plus start developing starters to replace our defensive vets eventually, we can be looking at a long run as a Super Bowl contender. With our depth, we seem to be avoiding a lull like the Niners and Rams suffer when they are subject to the injury bug. Go Hawks! (Please retain our coaches, which might be hard to do.)
It is amazing to me how well the 49er's are doing considering they have 19 players on injured reserve. To lose some of the impact players they have and still be in the playoff hunt at 8-4 is incredible to me. I am not a Niner fan but have to tip my cap to them.
Speaking of the 2005 SB team, the AFC was the designated "Home" team, so I bought a white custom #40 jersey with "SUPERBOWL" across the shoulders. The whine-ass Steellers thought they were SOooo disrespected they should wear visiting team white Uni's even though Detroit is much closer to Pittsburgh than Seattle, so for twenty years I've been wearing a wrong-colored jersey. I have a dear and wonderful friend who lives in Pittsburgh and loves his Steelers, but honest to God, fuck the Steelers forever.
As someone who went to college in Western PA, and lived there for a few more years, Steelers fans are the absolute worst. The sense of entitlement, the overreactions to everything, the constant whining that they don't get calls (when they get most, if not all of them), and the overbearing insistence that the Steelers' franchise is infallible is just obnoxious. They make Eagles fans seem tame in comparison. I will always have the Steelers #1 on the worst fans list, followed by the Cowboys and Patriots.

LFG!!
This is the Thanksgiving speech I needed to hear.
Go Hawks!
Well, looks like old friend Quandre DIggs is returning to the team. That is not something I thought would ever happen but makes sense.
This must mean that the team expects Okada to miss some time.
And Love not to be ready?
That’s what I’m afraid of…

I am curious, what was that fan's opinion about his own team?

Sometimes it's better to not argue with people and just let them be wrong.
Ah, thanks for that Danno. We dominated the Rams in all phases except the 4 turnovers. Need to keep that under control.

Zero is a good start, but almost three is kind of worrisome. Sometimes Lady Luck looks one way and other times she looks the other way.

Tell us again how the Rams and 49er's are suffering?

Patriots’ fans are just as bad—worse in a sense because they act like 20th C Yankees fans. They gave become what they hate.
I think we just did that by sending them a $150 million dollar turd and team destroyer.
Ok. THIS just blew me away.
“Jaxson Smith-Njigba might actually end up with more receiving yards in 2025 than Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf had combined in 2019 (1,957).”
That’s just incredible. It’s not like Lockett and DK were just so-so receivers. They were quality starters on a good offensive team.
Shifting gears, anyone else notice how Darryl Johnson appears to become the newest member of the Seahawks fan club on Sunday’s game broadcast?
Darryl Johnson is a Seahawk legacy. Ok, for one season.
It's 7 am on the west coast Joe, are you in a different time zone? Love your stuff!
If I can manage to get a post scheduled for the next 7 AM, that's the plan. Hopefully more consistently in the future.
It's good in Ark-in-saw with a cup of Morning Seaside Joe at this time. Dig it.
Morning Joe indeed
