With the exception of Hankins Seattle has pretty good "Quicks" on their D Line and edges. Those body types also play well to moving postions and confusing offenses, as well as speed reacting to misidirection plays ala KS and McVay.

300 lbs and undersized? I don't think so. Sometimes I think these 'standards' teams have at each position get in their way more than they help. I understand why they exist, as it's a way of playing the statistics game. There aren't many short QB's under 6' tall that were highly successful at the NFL level. That's legit. It's also true that very few under 6' QB's ever got the chance to be successful. The standards are necessary, but don't let them bury obvious talent that comes in a different form.

I’m still hoping like the dickens for Seattle to line up Murphy at 4th and short on the goal line and just watch those tree trunks he has for legs power through his peers on the other side, saying “you’re damn lucky Mathis turned me into a DT!!”

Was hoping for a wrecking ball last year. Maybe Murphy will be that wrecking ball. Wreck those offenses! May the 12s be with you and Go Seahawks.

I appreciate that because when I write lines like that, I say, "Well, this is it. The end of my career."

Not hardly. Name me five sportswriters (if you can) that are actually real writers and have enough depth and breadth to pop these out as often as you do.

Hell they don’t write ANYTHING as often as you do, not even drivel

I live for these “throw-away” strokes of genius. He just lays ‘em out there and then just keeps on writing. Love it!

You know who else was "undersized" coming out of college? Aaron Donald. Remember him? Yeah, I do too. If Murphy even comes close to Donald, this pick will be a steal.

Murphy also noted in that pre-draft article that Aaron Donald is his DT idol for the reasons you mention. I didn't put it in the article probably only because AD should be everyone DTs hero, regardless of size. On one hand, the NFL draft has produced 100 defensive tackles in the past 10 years who have been told, "Hey don't worry if you're undersized because AD exists" and almost none of them have had good careers. However, Murphy is certainly one of the absolute best prospects to be labeled as such since 2014, so even if he's Ed Oliver, that's cool too.

Aaron Donald had obscurity working for him. He came out of 'nowhere'. Murphy will have every trench warrior focused on him. Show him this is The Big Boy's Club. Good. Coach Mike can make that into a weakness to be exploited.
