I'm not the least worried about Tennessee this week. I know......'any given Sunday' and all, and if we were on a 10 game winning streak I'd worry more about stubbing our toe, but coming off a tough loss, I don't see it. I worry more about having 2 backups and AB in the middle of our o-line, and Sam getting crushed. Beating a bad team while losing key players to injury would suck. Fingers crossed.
It is possible we see Grey out there on Sunday though, maybe with a knee brace. I expect he had one on in practice yesterday (speculation). He's a tough sob, so he'll want to play.
Kupp is a fine No 2 receiver on a team built like the Seahawks. Probably ends up with 500-700 yards, blocks his ass off, and makes players around him better. Is he an ideal No 2 on a bunch of other teams? No. But I think he fits really well on this team. Horton will be back soon, and that will help open things up even more. Team composition is very important, and players like Cooper are what helps make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. The only issue we have on offense is picks and fumbles, not a lack of talent.
I was personally impressed by ward when he took over Miami and led that team well. He was great at WSU but he didn't have the media attention etc in the Palouse. TN sucks...just look at who they brought into their team this last year...ooof. Total trainwreck. Ward is good but he's surrounded by very little. Good luck young man. Thanks again for addressing our questions, super cool. I really enjoy what has been built here and I appreciate reading and sharing in this community. Thanks Kenneth!
Don't worry about Cam Ward, he'll be fine. Worry about JJ McCarthy, the poster boy for using a high draft pick on a " good college QB on a great college team."
I watched the Fitz/Whit video yesterday. My impression was that Whit didn't watch the game or look at the stats. He was critical of their run game. They put up the second most run yards on the Rams this year. Sure, it could have been better but that was not too bad. He also talked up their defense. Their defense was good in the red zone but we put up the most yards on their defense this year. And they had the fewest yards for their offense.
I just read the Rams put three starters on IR. That reminds me of the games from the legion of boom days when it seemed like after teams played us they were so beat up they lost their next game.
I don't know what happened in this game but hopefully it was a learning experience that will help us through the rest of the year and especially the playoffs.
A follow up to the rushing. LA allows 100.7 yards rushing. We had 135. Only 6 teams average more than 135 yards and of those six only the Bills have a winning record.
I can't even sort out my own feelings on the matter, let alone guess how the city of Seattle will view Russ when the time comes. Russ was a bit of a strange guy, and developed a distorted view over the years of who and what he was. He didn't recognize how others contributed to his success, nor appreciate the value of genuine relationships within the locker room. I found his talent easy to appreciate, but him as a person harder to like....especially as the years went on.
I try not to hate on anybody, but I must admit, his abject failure in Denver felt good. I know I shouldn't think that way, and if I was a nicer human I wouldn't take pleasure in another persons failures, but as time went on he rubbed me more and more the wrong way.
Well thought out and just an excellent comment that sums up the situation.
He is such a fascinating character because he seemingly changed quite a bit. When we first picked him in the third round he seemed like the underdog. Hard working and humble and that sort of changed over time.
I am very interested to see how this situation evolves especially as we near the end of his playing career. He was at Pete's retirement party so a little welcome back i guess.
I agree. The Steve Hutchinson situation wasn't quite the same because Tim Ruskell took most of the blame. But there's no bad blood with Hutchinson for the poison pill.
Fans will want to celebrate what Wilson accomplished in Seattle, just maybe not while he's still in the league.
The thing is, I’m a Seahawks fan so I’ve seen the strangest mismatches suddenly become a problem. This team seems to impose itself more, get out of the gate fast which def favors us against weaker teams, but, have been worried about this game since the schedule came out, could be such a letdown after the Rams full-focus effort.
And these are still NFL players on the Titans.
Let’s just say I’ll be glad when this one is behind us.
I remember Mike Glennon having the game of his life against the Seahawks in 2013. So….it could happen. But I REALLY believe in the D Mike McDonald has created. Sometimes it seems like he’s playing 3D chess and the other team is playing checkers.
Of course this past weekend we saw a coach that can play 3D chess on offense as well.
I’m not too worried about Cam Ward this year. He does look like he has potential to become a very good QB. What worries me is Haynes and Bradford as our starting guards. I’d love to see us run the ball 40 times in this game and get 200 yards. Slow down that pass rush!
Injury is how you get a starting position with this MM Team. Our O-Line Coach Benton has no doubt used this time to focus on this Ready Group Guy. I expect to be pleasantly surprised. Zabel could use a week to allow extra healing to whatever damage caused him to come out. That's simple biology. Playing an injured Zabel over a studied-up/coached-up Haynes will not speak well for Haynes. Period. Find the energy that says "Enough of this sht". Big Cat repeats this to us over and over and over.
And the CBs are probably asleep in meetings because they're not gonna have anyone to cover this week. Those supporting players would definitely not start for any NFC West teams.
"He’s toast. Maybe he’s like a flax seed, 8-grain, no butter toast because he’s generally good for you (blocker, mentor, coach, friend) but he’s not a “genuine no. 2”, no."
I think there’s a good chance Kupp is with the Seahawks next year but not as a player. I see him being a receiver coach or a passing game coordinator. Football is such a huge part of his life and he loves it. He puts in so many hours, is always there early and late. He attends the QB room meetings. Sooner or later we’re likely to lose Kubiak to a HC job. With all those years studying under McVey, and now seeing Kubiak’s system up close, Why not allow him to put all that to work for the Seahawks?
Normally I would say that a player probably isn't going to do that but with Kupp I've been thinking it made sense because of his roots in Washington. If coaching interests him at all (it doesn't interest most former players) then I think the Seahawks make more sense than the Rams.
I agree, and for most players I think the major drawback is the intense time commitment it requires. But he is there by 6am every day and seems to thrive on understanding and improving every aspect of the game and gaining every advantage he can from studying opponents. I think he’s very happy to be ‘home,’ or at least close enough for an overnight day trip. He’s been embraced by the fans and organization, vs some strain with the way he was let go in LA. I’d love to see him do it. Fascinated by what all that time with McVey and the time with Kubiak might produce in him as an eventual OC.
I recently read a story about Kupp that he likes to read. And when he reads he has a pen to make notes in the book and puts bookmarks in places he thinks are important. He also buys extra copies of books to give away. As an intellectual I think he and MM probably get along great and I totally see him start his coaching in Seattle. We'll see how much he has left in the tank the rest of the year. If he can't do the job anymore I think he is the kind of person to step down/retire and let someone better take his place to improve the team.
He does seem to be very involved. Even when he was out with a hamstring injury, he was wearing a headset and involved in the game to a much greater extent than almost any other player other than veteran QBs who are sidelined.
Have they really proven we can beat anybody? So far, they've lost to all the good teams on their schedule -- I'm not sure that's a solid proof point.
Witherspoon was mic'ed up Sunday. The hype man is worth a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3ajsF2zrcE

Seahawks sign C Doug Kramer to practice squad, release RB Myles Gaskin.
Kramer is a 2022 sixth round pick of the Bears who was waived by CHI in August. No career starts. Insurance for the depleted position.

For what it's worth, the 3 injured Rams is one good player (Lake) and 2 over the hill players who probably shouldn't be starting (Higbee, Havenstein)
Hopefully the over hill players don't have better backups/replacements.
For some reason I can't look at Andrew Whitworth without getting the uncanny valley feeling.
Is that Valley Fever?
You are in the valley, you would know.

Great question Grant.
I have been and will continue to be interested in how Russ Wilson evolves in Seattle.
I think that time will heal all wounds. And will be a beloved figure the further out from his retirement it goes (agree with what Joe said).
That’s my hope also! Great years deserves to be celebrated

Russ was an utter failure at locker room politics. I believe it is why he employed a personal "mental coach". No doubt a book is being written.
I’m not worried about Cam Ward. If Stafford couldn’t carve up the Seahawks defense, I just don’t see Ward doing it.
The thing is, I’m a Seahawks fan so I’ve seen the strangest mismatches suddenly become a problem. I agree that carving doesn't seem likely, regardless of the proximity to Thanksgiving.
No, but we could roast the stuffing out of them.
😆

If there ever was a game to sit out, this is it.
From what I hear, his footwork is a work-in-progress. If Seattle pressures him, our defense should dominate.
He leads the league in getting sacked. I’m guessing the D-line and blitzers are salivating.
And the CBs are probably asleep in meetings because they're not gonna have anyone to cover this week. Those supporting players would definitely not start for any NFC West teams.
oh, dang.
"He’s toast. Maybe he’s like a flax seed, 8-grain, no butter toast because he’s generally good for you (blocker, mentor, coach, friend) but he’s not a “genuine no. 2”, no."
... hah,hah.

Kupp has three kids and $116M in career earnings. Just saying.

I felt like he was signed as a "player-coach" this season, so his salary was justified imo versus paying solely for his receiving stats.
The Lenny Wilkens of the Seahawks.
He does seem to be very involved. Even when he was out with a hamstring injury, he was wearing a headset and involved in the game to a much greater extent than almost any other player other than veteran QBs who are sidelined.
