Kyler wad always going to start in the minors and I have no doubt he would have made it. I don't know him, but from afar it seems his outward personality is more suited to the individual nature of baseball. One thing is for certain he has ability that all but a few posses. Did you know the Riffleman, Chuck Connors played pro hoops and baseball, random thought and fact

So much does indeed come down to ownership. I remember when the Cards left Saint Lewis for Phoenix. At the time, Phoenix was on the short list for an expansion team. I thought at the time they'd have been better off waiting for a new team under local ownership.

When Robert Irsay packed up the Colts in the middle of the night and moved them from Baltimore to Indianopolis, Baltimore was ultimately the beneficiary when Art Modell moved the Browns. Then a new expansion Browns came along to replace the former Browns, now Ravens. The Ravens have been run far better than the Colts (or Browns).

Seattle had terrible ownership before Allen. Paul was a guy who cared deeply about Seattle. We were lucky to have him. We're lucky to have Jody now. I'm hopeful our next owners will be similar but we'll see. Ken Behring wasn't that much better than Bill Bidwill or Bob Irsay.

There are other shitty owners around the league. Jets fans are finally having a good season. Their owner, Woody Johnson, is not the sharpest knife in the drawer (and a poster boy for the mediocrity that so often goes with inherited wealth). Hess, before him, wasn't much better. I guess Woody's out now and his son, Chris, has taken over. Perhaps that has something to do with their recent upturn.

Jody Allen once said that the Seahawks are Paul's legacy and it will stay in the family.

I'd read there was something in the will that forces the team to be sold within a few years. I'm not sure if it's true. Just something I read on the internet -- so it couldn't be wrong, right?

I believe that is correct, but Jody has also expressed an interest in maintaining an ownership stake in the team as part of the sale, which would be good for the Seahawks.

Let's hope it turns out well since we have zero control.

When you speak of Croyell's 10 win seasons the NFL was 14 games, what a great record. That word salad from the owner spelled Cheap with a capital C. There is no doubt the best thing that every happened to the Seahawks was Paul Allen. If it wasn't for him the Seahawks likely would have moved to California. He hired Mike Holmgren, Pete Carroll, and John Schneider. These men would not have even considered Seattle without him. Perhaps Jody can sell the team to the best owner if dollars and cents are close. What about the Commanders ownership, they have sucked since the Jack Cook era, a good Canadian kid eh. Any chance I get to put in my home and native land I do. There has been talk that it may take quite awhile to sell the Seahawks. Let's hope so ! The culture that Paul Allen started and was magnified by Holmgren and Carroll is all you need to know about good ownership. Take it from a long time suffering Vancouver Canucks supporter they are hard to come by. In their 52 years they have had some good owners, the owner we have now is a BULLY, who's own kids won't even talk to. We play the Chargers Sunday and that is another family that couldn't be accused as thinking of their employees as their greatest asset. The Chargers are good but we have a chance, there will be many Hawks supporters at the game

Dan Snyder, Jerry Jones, and Bill Bidwell represent the master class on how to be an unsuccessful NFL owner. The primary character requirement is a huge ego that allows you to believe you know more than the experts you hire. I believe that for the NFL to continue benefitting from it's anti-trust exemption a Packers style format of public ownership should be required.

The best thing that Jerry Jones can do for the Cowboys is to fire Jerry Jones the GM and Jerry Jones the head coach and just sign the checks.

I have re-watched the last game, and one of the announcers claimed that Jody Allen had stated that no changes are imminent and that it would be 10-20 years before an ownership change. That is not a quote nor even a close approximation of the words or wording, so forgive me if I missed something.

Well, I googled: Jody Allen News and I am correct. The team is not for sale. The terms of the will do not require the team be sold on a specific timeline, and wills of this sort take 10-20 years to complete.

So this was a lovely essay on the importance of ownership, and you should send it to the Washington Commandos sports reporters for their use. It felt like there was lots of work involved in collecting all that data, it should be put to use.

If true that Jody's not selling, that's a huge relief.

The Kliff and Kyler HC and QB proves once again that college offenses don't work in the pro's. You would have thought the Bidwells would have figured that out by now!

It's only pure luck that Murray ,as small as he is , hasn't sustained any long term injuries.

As one smart coach once said " if you have a running QB, you better have 3 of them!

If I was Murray I would reconsider baseball. He's still got his legs and he would be a menace once on base. I imagine he's a dang good second baseman as well. Or maybe shortstop. Better yet. If he can hit, he could still put in 15 years in the majors. More money probably. Less wear and tear on your body, and MIND.

Yes major league baseball players are payed well, but compared to a second contract NFL QB, not so much. Is there a second baseman making 40 million a year probably not.

Making only 15 million a year playing baseball beats brain damage !

Could he be an immediate star and get $15M or would he have to come up through the minors? John Elway could have chosen baseball but chances were much greater he'd be a star in football. Wilson's another guy who could have played on the diamond.

First, thank you Ken for the content to distract from an ugly smokey grey day here in the Great Grey North.

I never really understood the thinking behind going "all in" on Kyler Murray, to the point of hiring Kliff Kingsbury as well, and then EXTENDING THEM before they really had to with no demonstrated success. You know that clip you post about Grayson McCall with a chip on his shoulder? ("I know there will be other QBs selected ahead of me...) He has the kind of mental approach to himself and the game that just doesn't seem to be there with Kyler.

But yeah, the Seahawks are lucky to have had Allen as an owner. We don't know how that is going to evolve over the next 24 months but the indications are that Jody wants a piece of the ownership and if successful she will likely keep the "hands off operations/hire good people to run things" approach that has worked, at least since PC/JS have been on board.
