I watched Kupp's video, learned a lot, and feel that I'm now ready for training camp. I'm likely to go undrafted, so look me up John and Pete. Seriously though, how fast are Cooper Kupp's feet moving?!?!
Also, Tyler Lockett said Cade Johnson was gonna surprise people this season, so look out for that!
Because I put them in a comment on a different piece, and here is a piece on WR. Also looking at Tank Dell & Elijah Higgins currently as later round WR's who could be interesting. Dell as a fun YAC man, and Higgins as a big bodied WR/TE hybrid. Nothing to set the world alight, but Dell could be a solid WR3 and Higgins would be useful in the run game and with good coaching I see a unique redzone threat.
As Joe says, finding a pro bowl WR on Day 3 is rare. But we can always live in hope of finding an Antonio Brown (#195). It's also just not a good year for WR. I've said it several times, if these top options (Flowers, Downs, JSN, Addison etc) where in last year or the '21 class they wouldn't be Rd 1 at all, more like mid-late Rd 2. I'm sure one or two will still get 800+yds and 7 TDs, because the NFL is a volume passing league. But sit back, go for a Jones type later on, and focus the #20-#83 on other areas where there is genuinely good talent.
This WR class is middle-heavy. I think teams will be picking receivers rds 2-4. C JONES has incredible #'s - the tape looks solid. Another good fit: J MINGO (tall, great vertical, great hands).
Mingo is my favorite "sleeper" that isn't sleeping. I'd take him ahead of Charlie Jones, but I'm still holding out hope we can get them both.
Trading down is the only way to get enough 2nd and 3rd round picks to end up with guys like this, not because we take them there, but because we fill our other needs early enough we don't have to choose between a NT or Charlie Jones. We've GOT to take a NT somewhere in this draft, and if it's late it will be instead of guys like Charlie Jones.
Hawks trading up to reduce cap cost? One thing I haven’t heard you write a lot about is how they are going to pay this draft class being over the cap. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to turn the picks they have into less picks in a better position? I don’t know how the math pencils out to give up 20, 37 and 50? For an 8th or a 10th pick in the first, or to move from 5th to 3rd, etc. Might it be better for them to reduce these picks in quantity for sure fire hit starters, but reduce cap salaries in total?
Good question - one that seems a likely answer. Actually, even though I do not have number in front of me to regurgitate for you, typically, more lower picks cost less than fewer higher picks...
They'll get the cap in line by maneuvering veteran salaries or something. I don't think they would play games with draft pick trades just for that purpose. If they trade up it'll be because they really want that guy on the team, regardless of cap implications.
Honestly, this IS the kind of guy I'd prefer to read about IF he goes to Seattle. Sure, he might be great. Might be great, might be nothing. Might be a steal, might be a bust. Might, might, might, might, might.
This is not a criticism. It's your site and your prerogative to write about whatever and whomever you consider noteworthy. I doubt many readers agree with me. If he winds up being the next Kupp, I'll know of him before any of my friends. I'm just not getting cold chills running up my spine or down my leg reading about this guy.
Yep only 1 quibble. Flowers ceiling is not Tyler Locket - Flowers ceiling is the second coming of Antonio Brown hopefully with Tyler’s decided lack absence of receiver narcissism. The comp with Tyler for Jones is the kick returner that could land Jones a job and keep him on a roster.

It could be unfair because I just happened to watch a video today of a guy saying that Lockett and Flowers are the same size so that comp was still on my mind.

With a nickname like "Charlie Jones," you can't help but root for the young man.
Well, sure, Charlie Jones isn't a sleeper NOW that you have told the world about him. Thanks a lot, Seasick Joe.
Charlie "Charlie Jones" Jones, the Charliest Jones that ever Charlied a Jones
great nickname!

Finding a WR on Day 3 who contributes as a receiver is rare. I bet the Hawks have had better luck with UDFAs.

I actually really like the difference in Flowers and Lockett because it makes the whole package more difficult to cover.
