Connor Williams has announced his retirement, according to head coach Mike Macdonald on Friday. The Seahawks designated Williams as not practicing for “personal reasons” this week and now it is apparent that the offensive lineman’s history of knee injuries, including a torn ACL with the Dolphins last season, has been so difficult that he is stepping away from football at age 27.
The Seahawks will start Olu Oluwatimi against the 49ers on Sunday, the second start of his career. Seattle is also getting back right tackle Abe Lucas for the first time this season and Macdonald noted that for that reason he will only play a limited number of snaps.
DK Metcalf is also expected to start after missing the last two games.
There hasn’t been any confirmation yet of who will take Williams’ open roster spot on the 53-man roster. The team placed K’Von Wallace on IR already, which opened a place for Lucas, so there should still be an available spot after Williams’ retirement.
They said that playing offensive line for the Seahawks was bad for your career. They had no idea…

Ok then, back to Square One. Hope Sundell becomes the next Jim Langer bc I’m not sure Ole will pan out. Although maybe he’s been watching and learning.
Do feel bad for Williams though. Having to play all three interior OL positions by yourself is like playing till you’re 30 when you’re still only 27. Like OL dog years.
On the one hand WTAF?!!
On the other hand… GOOD! OluOlu is the future at C. He did not look out of place in his start last year. He is smart, tough, and maybe has a bit more strength to hold up in pass pro. His run blocking will be an improvement, and no more high snaps to QB.
