I actually 'get' THIS one! It's a contract FOR Metcalf.

I think Seattle will get DK signed but I think they sometimes should be more proactive. We've seen them sit back with no sense of urgency with other players and it ultimately cost them. I don't think it makes sense to trade him unless we get a ridiculous offer. Two high first rounders would be the kind of offer one would have to seriously consider. But we would miss Metcalf.

My only quibble is your comment about the Hopkins trade making the Texans a laughing stock. While true, we need to remember that letting him go was just another straw as they were deconstructing that team and practically giving away the talent. The Cardinals practically stole Andre. Had they paid what he was worth, no one would have thought less of the Texans over it.

First, Deebo before the trade demand, a couple of hours ago Chris Simms had this observation. Keep in mind that Kyle Shanahan and Simms are long time friends, and Simms says he hasn't spoken with Shanahan in months. Kyle is definitely the type of coach who will ride a player until he is used up, I paraphrased. One can not blame Sanuel for his feelings. I also believe that Samuel is the ultimate competitor and will run the ball for his next team. I think running between the tackles is fine in a very limited fashion, when trying to get in the playoffs or win a playoff game. In a contact sport you need to know your coach is going to have your best interest at heart with in reason.

Off the top of my head I would garuntee DK $24 million a year for 3 years with a fourth or maybe 5th year option. DK has showed he is a touchdown scoring machine. His numbers were a little off because it took Russ 3 and a half games to get his timing and accuracy back. If you look at DK numbers with Geno under center they were right around his career average. DK is a beast and the LA Rams, Ramsey maybe the only corner who doesn't loose sleep thinking about covering and tackling him. I think it is absolutely insane to think about trading such a young star. After all call it rebuilding, rebooting or business as usual he is a player to build your future around. It is now being a little more openly talked about that this years draft class is not that great. Why would you want to late first round lottery tickets for DK. Seattle won the lottery when they picked him in the second round. The same can be said for Baltimore getting his teammate AJ Brown in the same second round. How bad must have the coaches, quarterback, or the combination have been at Old Miss, not to blow teams away with those two. I don't believe Seattle will trade DK and they do have a history of rewarding their home grown talent with good second contracts. This is one reason Hawk players love the culture. Just to end a long post, DK has acted like an adult about a new contract zero bitching. Good on him.

I've asked several reporters this and no one has ever answered. Why do the Seahawks wait until late summer to extend players? Other than, "that's how they've always done it," I haven't gotten an answer at all. It just seems to drive up the prices by waiting and seems a dumb strategy. Some signing inevitably changes the market at a position where we have a core guy to re-sign.

I doubt it means anything for DK. The WR market has been set by Hill and Adams. Do you think some team is willing to pay him better than Tyreek? I think you are right and Seattle and DK have already worked out how to pay him Tyreek-like money.

This makes sense for Deebo. He and his agent are probably being real honest with themselves and looking at all the hype around teams finding "the next Deebo Samuel" and saying our value is at it's maximum right now. This is that one time in your career when you can get the greatest guaranteed return on all your hard work. What is more likely, a profession athlete that doesn't feel loved enough, or one smart enough to recognize and seize his moment.

Some folks are still stuck on trading DK for draft picks. DK is exactly what every team wants, very young and supremely talented. In my books he is as close to untouchable as you can get. Yes Russ got traded but that had become a tangle that didn't look like it could be undone. The Great One Wayne Gretzky got traded, but that was only because Peter Pocklington the Oilers owner was very thirsty and had the nose to prove it. Also he was a gambler and ran out of money 💰.

We should absolutely sign DK to a long contract, but that does not preclude them turning around and trading him to an offer that can't be refused.
