I looked at the Rams offensive line since I couldn't find anything about Andy Dickerson's preferences in linemen. It appears that 6' 4', 310 lbs, athletic, smart, and consistent is the prototype. Both Raimann and Penning seem to be a fit for our left tackle needs and there's a decent sized drop off after that for LTs. It appears the 2023 draft is strong on QB, CB, DL but not on OL or DE. I'm more and more convinced that assuming the top three don't drop, one of these two should be our pick. Of course, that almost guarantees we'll be resigning Brown and kicking the can down the street on LT because one of Edge guys will likely be there and Pete loves his rushers. Ugh.

You won't find anything much on Andy Dickerson with Rams. He was not the offensive line coach. Assistant OL maybe? He only just became OL coach this year for the first time and honestly maybe there's no way to know what he personally likes; certainly Rams is a good place to start looking.

As much as I wanted DeShawn Watson how do you build around $230 million. It's time the NFL takes the Quarterback out of the salary cap. Also I would like to see all runninbacks get $2 million a year base .

I suppose if Dunlap doesn't fit a 3/4 so be it, Hyder under whelmed and fed off scraps in San Francisco. Not that's bad its just how he plays. Pete did a great job of selling the no rebuild, I hope he gets to see it through. Marcus Mariota a great place holder, I wouldn't trade a bag of balls for Baker. Victoria Chris

The Browns don't need to rebuild, they're ready. They'd better win though because they traded for a sexual predator.

Too much money. Will be covering that soon.

Yeah, QBs make way too much $ relative to the rest of the players. Was thinking makinga certain % as maximum for any team to pay. Agree with Chris that RBs should get more along with other players whose position leads to more injuries.

I would go with 2nd chance Luck and wait till next year on any QB. Nothing out there brings much excitement.

Another newsletter idea. How does the switch to a 3/4 scheme affect our draft plans?

Good question. Jordan Davis is a stud, but perhaps overkill with how many big men signings the Seahawks have already done and there are fewer DL opportunities in a 3-4.

Kenneth, give me some odds on positional picks in our first two picks of the draft. I know it depends on who goes before the pick but assume they can get what they want position wise. If it's too complicated for a reply then it might make a good Seaside Joe newsletter.

Thoughts:

There are four top ten rushers: Hutchison, Thibodeaux, Waker, and Johnson

There are four top ten LTs: Neal, Ekwonu, Cross, and Penning

Tyler Linderbaum has been lauded as the best center out of college in decades.

Two corners, Gardner and McDuffie could factor in the top ten.

Is Jordan Davis worth a top ten pick?

Is the first pick a LT, C, DE, DT, or CB?

Add RB to the list and odds for the second pick are...?

It seems like there's a lot of quality in the top 100 so does John trade down? Would you prefer to stay at nine or get an extra pick in the top 100? What are your odds of staying put?

Prediction: Hutchinson doesn't get past 2, Thibodeaux doesn't get past 5.

Ekwonu doesn't get past 7, Neal doesn't get past 4.

If the Panthers pick Malik Willis, that would be 5 prospects for the 8 picks ahead of Seattle.

Any team needing pass protect LT is gonna grab Cross. I could see Gardner, McDuffie, or Stingley getting got by the Giants.

My positional rankings for SEA right now: OT (1), DE (2), LB (3) but you might throw that out the window if they just love Linderbaum or Davis. Seahawks true number one need couldn't be easier: They just need great football players. Anywhere.

Agreed: Jordan Davis. Have an Uber-athletic Gilbert Brown type in the middle of our D-line for the next decade: YES PLEASE.

Jordan Davis and Tyler Linderbaum are two of the prospects that really just seem like nobody's going to be sad with the outcome. They don't play premium positions, they're just premium players.

True. Hoping they trade down with Minn or Houston, grab another pick and still get the player(s) they want.
