If you got an email for the Survivor newsletter, you probably shouldn't have. There's only one person here who I know is subscribed and nobody else is (it should only be people who wanted it, not people subscribed to Seaside Joe) and I don't want anyone to receive the Survivor newsletters because they're subscribed to Seaside Joe.

If you're receiving a notification on your phone for them, that also shouldn't be happening. I literally didn't know anyone would receive any notifications for it and I will immediately look into getting that changed if you tell me that's happening. However, if you're just seeing my profile on Substack or something and clicking to see what's new, then yes sometimes you might see that I wrote a newsletter about Survivor.

So I am sorry if any of you received an unwanted email or notification about the Survivor newsletter, but all I can promise you is that at no time have I ever intended to tell you about the other newsletter except for this one time at the end of this article. I don't want any of you to receive that newsletter without signing up for it.

"... at which point he probably leaves and joins the raiders or the panthers or something"

Oh, ... that is So Cold. KenJoe cuts deep ... and doesn't even capitalize their names.

You have to finish with a winning record to get upper case treatment.

I would consider it. What is different than under Pete was Pete relied on the best athletes at the position. McDonald is all about the scheme. If he could find somebody that could do 90% of what spoon could do for 20% the price. I think John would pull the trigger.

That is one of the ways Kansas City stayed on top for so long players I thought no way they would trade them. They did.

A lot is going to depend on their third string QB and is he developing at all?

Another thing I’d like to know from SSJ readers, how will you watch the draft this year? Will you watch it on ESPN or NFL Network? Will you watch it on a YouTube podcast? I personally am not thrilled with ESPN, as they have very little coverage from a Seahawk perspective. I’m looking to find decent overall coverage with an emphasis on on the Seahawks. Any ideas?

Isn’t ESPN owned by NFL network now?

Danno's avatar

I think that the NFL network is now owned by ESPN, but as I understand it, both will continue to broadcast.

Oh okay. I figured they would both broadcast, but not sure if that impacts their draft coverage or not. I really can't remember the difference between coverage by either network.

I flipped back and forth, it was different commentators but they basically had what I considered lacking coverage. Especially how often the Seahawks get talked about. Sanders himself got 10 times the coverage the entire Seahawks team received. I was in the chat for SSJ, but watching ESPN for the picks. I tried the Hawks Nest, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. I heard today that Bootleg Football will be live for all seven rounds. They are not Seahawk specific, but they are more in tune with the Hawks. They will also be 100% commercial free on YouTube. Now if you get a YouTube channel….. Come on KenJoe, get with the times!

I'm guessing fans from all 31 other teams feel about the same as we do.

I’m ready to get there already. Things are really slow right now. It’s causing people to entertain some crazy ideas. Like the Seahawks moving up to pick Love, RB Notre Dame. Come on, we’d have to move into the top 10 from 32. If we gave them every draft pick we have this year, it wouldn’t get us to 8. We’d have to add a pic k from next year. Crazy talk.

You say, “I’ve been writing about the Seahawks long enough to know that fans don’t want to talk about trading away popular players.” You are right on that point. But you are also right about questioning the money these second contracts are commanding. JSN $42 million, You say Darnold could be up to $56 million, Spoon at $31.5. You mention Murphy, but I would also add Barner to consider for a second contract next year. I can’t personally see signing anyone to more than 10% of the cap in a sport with 70 players under contract. I understand that’s the market value of the QB, WR and CB. I’d be exploring how Milroe is coming along this year. If Darnold wins another Super Bowl, we might get three 1st round pics for him, and use that $56 million for Spoon, Murphy and Barner.

On another note, I was listening to the Bootleg Football Podcast this morning and EJ Snyder threw out Oregon OG Pregnon as a pick at 32. Says he might be the best OG in the class and a sure gem. A sure 2nd contract pick. He would raise this O-line to stellar level and they’d have the entire O-line for at least three more years. If there’s no corner or edge at 32 and the Seahawks stick, Pregnon might be the pick. I didn’t think so, but Snyder was convincing everyone is sleeping on this pick.
