Always interesting to see how complex an actual NFL contract is vs. the simplified media-friendly version. You make really good points regarding the relative negotiating power of a player in DK's position as opposed to Hill or Adams. I feel comfortable not worrying about this again for at least 6 weeks, so thanks for helping us Seasiders sleep better at night.

Sign DK. He's a once in a decade talent and a non diva team player.

Great write up. Level headed on a topic that I don't think is an issue. Seahawks often sign guys in this upcoming period, and it would have been nice for DK to be there last week, rehabbing the foot is a good reason. It's a dynamic market for receivers, and benefits DK to take his time.

He's the alpha dog on offense right now. He's the identity much like Marshawn was. Maybe some would think that shouldn't be a receiver, but he's not a diva. He's a legit rough guy that battles. When he's not catching, he's blocking.

Great interview with KG on YouTube. DK is fantastic.

DK's size, Noah's size, Tyler's catch radius...I'm excited about Lock stepping up and getting these guys the ball off play action... something we just didn't see with Wilson.

The concern is the inexperience of the line, and Lock's potential to miss throws

But DK's not a concern for me at all. He signs, he continues to grow as a player

Because of where he was drafted, Metcalf will always be a bargain in Seattle. Plus, there’s no realistic trade scenario where SEA comes out ahead—they would have to hit on every single one of the draft picks they’d get.

Unlike what seems like all negotiations other than Russell Wilson's are dragged out into training camp. This of course is not true as there are always players that could become free agents, like Quandre Diggs. Joe you are correct in everything you say.

One thing Pete and John should get accomplished is signing DK before camp. The team does not need that distraction. Lock and Smith need to throw to DK everyday and communicate about everything they are trying to accomplish. Why not offer DK a true $1 million more a season than his pal AJ Brown. I think that puts him in the same ballpark as Tyreek. DK celling is the highest of any receiver in the league. He literally is still learning his position and placed third for most production by a receiver over his first 3 years, and that is on the all time list, with only Randy Moss and Jerry Rice ahead of him. While at College him and Brown were criminally under used, which is to our bennifit.

Mike Florio in this instance is so wrong saying it would be better to trade DK , huh ? He is 24 rebuilding is supposed to be about finding young superstars, not trading them for a future 1st round pick who in all likelihood will never be as valuable as DK.

One thought and it's a good news thought. I don't know who DK agent is but he will be good, as his Dad played in the league, and will know who is good. Also his Dad will be able to help DK if he needs any, in understanding what the contract says and his true worth.

It's my true hope DK earns a third contract with Seattle, as that would likely mean he is in Steve Largent territory. Also the team will be awesome

I like DK as a WR, and a member of the organization. I don't like the theatrics that get played. It seems he's going to be the replacement for Wilson's off-season stress dumped on the fans with how his contract is being handled.

I'm a DK fan, but I do worry his value might be diminished by who's throwing to him.
