I find it highly amusing how Mike MacDonald doesn't seem all that bummed when saying guys are out. "Excited to see (insert player here) play!". He doesn't offer it as excuse and doesn't want the mindset of the team to be any different, regardless of who is in and who is out. Trust whoever is out there, do your job, and we'll be ok.

That said, it's silly to think that having some of your best players out can't cause a drop-off in play. But, he wants them to think like an 11 man unit. The organism is greater than the man.

I'm hoping to see progress on Sunday, but we'll see. On defense, just do your job. Cover your gap and stop trying to cover someone else's. Trust your teammates to do their job. When you get your hands on someone, get them on the ground. That alone would be progress.

Too bad, but the bye week made this week seem like a rushed return.

The good news is that the Rams rank 29th in passing defense (Buffalo was 13th). Metcalf I think will probably miss this one. Taking a chance of further injury halfway through the season is just not a smart move. We'll see what todays Injury status reveals, but I agree with SSJ, that he has not been on the field for over two weeks and one day practice doesn't sound promising for a return on Sunday. It looks like Puka will be avaialble from his minor knee injury (Limited). If Seattle can just not shoot themselves in the foot they have a good chance of winning this week without DK, but unfortunately Fant is on the report with a groin injury and DNP on Thursday. Keep an eye on that one. As much as he hasn't done in his career I wonder if Young could contribute this week. He does have 4.4 speed and is a big receiver at 6'2" and 224lbs.

We need a guy to stretch the field deep.

Can we call up Easop Winston? At least just have him run go and post routes deep all day to keep the safeties somewhat honest.

It's a relief to see Spoon back to full practice.

With or without DK we've got to at least try to challenge them on some deep routes. Get creative!

We need our best run defense this week. This is the week!

I really really want to beat the Rams!

FTR!!!

Technically, with a Grade I, Metcalf did tear his MCL, albeit small. The timeframe for a return to activity is typically days to a week-ish. My conspiracy theory is that either it was actually a Grade II.........or..........there are serious last minute trade options being brandied about for consideration. Of course, it could also just be a Grade I that they are being extremely cautious with.

I sprained my MCL a couple of years ago and it was painful enough that I took a couple of days off running, which I rarely do. Never got a grade on it. I then started running and it hurt quite a bit, but was able to handle. Pain lasted a couple or three weeks, then just kind of annoyingly there. However, I was moving in a straight line, not trying to cut which I would imagine would have been bad for it, possibly causing further injury, would not have even tried that. My chiro (who does more soft tissue work such as massage and acupressure with small bone manipulations) put some KT tape on it and that helped for normal straight line running.

Yeah, I’ve had an ACL reconstruction (after going into surgery to repair a slight tear). I can tell you that the straight line running definitely doesn’t affect the knee’s use as much as side-to-side movement when we’re talking these particular ligaments. My knee’s never been the same since.

Isn’t that what Kam Chancellor got in practice a couple of days before SB49?

Yes. It's relatively rare; surgical MCL's
