This seems like the case of a guy procrastinating, doing an all-nighter to meet his deadline, and copy/pasting some old notes in for the team at the end of his list (NFC, West, Starts with an “S”.)
I meant to add something else in there about the other position groups. It can’t really be argued that Clay or ESPN is biased against the Seahawks because he certainly didn’t have to put four groups in the top10 and three in the top5. But maybe it could be related to taking the easy way out because the Seahawks OL is typically near the bottom. But boy, just delete the Nick Harris thing before you publish!
Keep notes for your next Dan Viens' interview, Ken. When the lead stories are all about "Who saw this coming?" in December, embarass the hell out of all these 'experts' embellishing their bias. If their high paid job is to watch, look and listen, then do your job, dammit. You need not worry about the competition. You ARE the competition. This guy deserves to have his nose rubbed. Good chance you'll get High 5's from Sherm...
Lazy research, half-ass awareness. I get that they often have to churn articles out at this time of the year with pointless ratings that are unfounded due to lack of draft pick performance, new coaches, etc. If he grab a JJ McCarthy headline, though, … just plain lazy.
I am not sure where the OL will be through the first quarter of the season (I am still expecting some new coaching scheme hiccups although this coaching staff is making me a believer) but health h permitting this OL group should be in the top half of the league by the end of the season.
Guys who rank all 32 teams just can’t be as familiar with each roster as we are with the Seahawks (and especially as Ken is).
Haha, that is great! Wow they are so young there...
First things first, I am going to say all the words inside my head. I am fired up and tired of the way that things have been... (just to prove I didn't stop listening to new music after the Monkees lol...)
If Williams, Lucas are good to go and Haynes keeps improving the Hawks have a top 20 OL. Williams is a big pick up because the Center is the QB.and the in game assistant coach of the O line!
I'm more concerned about the LBs as they are very integral part of Mac's D scheme. I think we will see more add-ons there. I'm impressed so far by the team's cohesiveness and discipline !
I've been worried about injuries, especially if our DB corps has to take up more tackling missed by our LBs. Lets note that we again got through some serious trials with a very physical Titan team. Hard, smart play.
Ken, you asked where the ESPN editors were at a couple of times in the article. They are probably under staffed and under qualified in that dept. They have been pretty publicly firing on-air personalities, team coverage reporters, and anyone who costs more than a replacement level sports intern for years now. It is showing in the quality of products they are producing and have been for a little while now.
Once again, we find Seattle relegated to the trash can next to sports writer's lap tops, assuming they took time to even think of us. I am so down with that. What I took note of is someone in Nashville noting that Coach Mack declared anyone fighting in practise yesterday would play the ENTIRE game on Saturday. Soon after, Christian Haines put his veteran starter opponent, 50 pounds/2 inches his superior, in the dirt, then proceeded to shove him back into his resting place, evoking an angry response with the expected scuffle. Obviously, he wants to take Coach up on his threat. I like a guy like that, especially a big guy. My bet is he just became Teacher's Pet. HooAh.
I’d be interested to hear from the Titans coaching staff how they felt about going up against the Hawks OL. From what I read Simmons was enjoying himself but overall, worse than anyone they faced last season?
Liked your write up a ton better, but it’s obvious you’ve put more time into it.
And the Nick Harris thing is just plain embarrassing, for him, his editors and ESPN. Helps explain some of the crap we read each week. And this is the offseason when there’s relatively little to occupy their time.
Good article. Graduated from Wenatchee high school (central Washington) in 1994. My big brother and his friend started a rock band, Smogblossoms, in 1991, my freshman year. One weekend they had a ton of “auditions” for lead singer in our basement. I just remember being upstairs in the kitchen making a peanut butter sandwich and cracking up at how terrible everyone was. Eventually my brother stormed upstairs after a particularly egregious bout of vocal ineptitude, all sweaty and pissed, and said, “Tim, come downstairs.”
So i was in a pretty bitchin rock band in high school. Fun. And also a terrible plan for a young adolescent. When my older brother and his friends left hs i was left a 16 yr old floundering addict. I did the whole life cycle of a rock star between 14 and 17. Do not recommend, 0 stars.
But i gotta say… the music scene in the very early 90s was perhaps the best ever! The underground “anticorporate” rock scene was amazing. There was an explosion of bands and creativity of musical expression that i don’t think we will ever see again.
And i came out the other side ok, because music. I start my 20th year as a music educator on Monday.
2023 pre-season, Jets #2 QB team with AR12 happy and revitalised. 1minute into the season, Jets #32 QB team with Zach Wilson.
Pre-season can give you an idea. One minute of Week 1 play will tell you 100x more about where a team really stands.
I love the hype and talk, especially Hard Knocks which really gets me buzzing. But I know until the ball is snapped for a competitive game it's all theory and mostly click bait.
Thank you SSJ for continuing to make those points clear and concise, whilst poking a bit of fun at a cock-up by the mainstream media you blow clear out the water day-in-day-out. Honestly it's more impressive to do so in the midst of celebrations.
If Abe comes back healthy, and Williams is good to go, then I dare say we would have a GOOD o-line, not just average. If Abe is not back and Fant is in there, that's still not horrible.
I key on genuine open happy attitudes at the Team level. Any one of these Men can play way above themselves if they are a Group. A unit. Toss in help from a butt-kickn tight end or two along with Bobo and we'll get where we need to go. Hell, we watched JSN level a DB last week...

Only worn once. Like new. Gotcha!
May the 12s be with you and Go Seahawks!

Just being a bit better is expected to give us an extra win or two. More time for Geno and the Boyz.
Since it's been awhile and this is the perfect opportunity... here ya go, Doug:

All he had to do was ask Seaside Joe about our offensive line.
He can hire Ken to edit his stuff.
Wait... you haven't completed your post-marriage obligations yet!? That's some serious stamina, Kenneth!

Excellent observation. Just run their stuff by Seaside Joe for half the former editorial department salaries...
They could've run it by their team reporters...Brady Henderson would've made that edit in a second.
Exactly. Run it by Brady Henderson.....you know.....the guy ESPN pays to follow the Seahawks. Geeesh, it's not that hard.

Exactly my thoughts. I think the RG competition is over.

Still super fun commercials. Chris Simms was a toddler! Lol
I firmly believe our OL group can easily improve to 31st this season

Everyone knows ESPN stands for:

Shitty
Propaganda
Not news

The attitude that Mike Mac wants is exactly that.
