ESPN ranks Seahawks as having the worst NFL offseason

Regular Joes: In which Bill Barnwell cherry picks as well as the rest of them to build a tired argument against the Seahawks offseason

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wrote that the Seattle Seahawks had the worst offseason of any team in the NFL. Let’s go line-by-line, starting with “What went wrong" according to Barnwell.

What Barnwell said will be in bold, larger letters. My rebuttals are in small, tiny, weak letters after those headers.

You've probably heard about the Russell Wilson trade by now.

I understand fans being upset about the Wilson trade because he’s the best quarterback in franchise history and he’s potentially got more elite seasons left in him. What confuses the heck out of me is why “the smarts” are against it. Wouldn’t trading Wilson to save $50 million per year be the more analytical move?

If you were trying to out-smart the rest of the NFL and to build a new identity before your competition landed the next Russell Wilson, wouldn’t the best thing to do to be to acquire two firsts, two seconds, and three chess pieces for a 34-year-old quarterback who showed signs of wear and tear last season? (The finger injury is not wear-and-tear, just bad luck, but clearly Wilson at 33 was different than Wilson he was at 24.)
