Former Seahawks signed by other teams: Where are they, how are they doing?
Over 50 former Seahawks, where they are, and how they're training camp is going: Seaside Joe 1977
The Seahawks have long been-and will always be-praised for the 2012 draft class that delivered Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, and Bruce Irvin to Seattle. But those three could be lauded just as much for longevity as for what they were able to do in their prime.
Irvin’s career is probably over, but even last season he got short-lived opportunities with the Lions and Dolphins, playing 12 snaps in Miami’s wild card playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Irvin has had a longer NFL career than first round classmates Luke Kuechly, David DeCastro, and Michael Brockers. And though unsigned now, if Irvin catches with a team again he could also outlast Stephon Gilmore, Fletcher Cox, and Chandler Jones too.
From the second round of the 2012 draft, there are just two active players remaining: Wagner and fellow linebacker Lavonte David. Right—or just overly appreciative of a great career—Wagner was voted as the 59th-best player in the league right now by his peers as he goes into his first season with the Washington Moons and his 13th overall:
Russell Wilson is also going into his 13th season and the first with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wilson is one of three third round picks in 2012 who is still in the league, with one of those being another linebacker (Demario Davis) and the other being the punter (Bryan Anger) who was drafted ahead of him.
It’s rare for a team to draft a Hall of Fame player, it’s obviously much more rare for a team to draft two of them in the same class, and yet there’s still another smaller circle inside of that one for two players who have lasted 13 years in the league. Even if they’re no longer with the Seahawks, that’s still amazing: The Colts drafted Andrew Luck and TY Hilton in 2012, but Luck retired in 2018 and Hilton retired after the 2022 season. The Panthers drafted a probable Hall of Fame linebacker in 2012, Luke Kuechly, and he retired in 2019; Wagner will go at least five seasons longer than that.
Of all the players drafted by the Seahawks who are still active, no others come as close to having careers as long Irvin, Wagner, and Wilson.

Again, Irvin is a free agent, Wagner is going to start for Dan Quinn in Washington, and Wilson is battling a calf injury in Pittsburgh and is crossing his fingers that Mike Tomlin doesn’t change his mind and decide to start Justin Fields at quarterback instead.
I forgot to mention that yesterday was Seaside Joe 1976, unofficially commemorating the inception of the Seahawks! Share your 1976 memories in the comments section below today:
We know where Irvin, Wilson, and Wagner are, but how about the other former Seahawks who are active and in training camp with another team right now? Should Seattle have any regrets about the ones who got away or is it mostly camp bodies and practice squad hopefuls? With Tuesday’s news that 2018’s first round pick (Rashaad Penny) is retiring and 2018’s third round pick (Rasheem Green) is signing with the Jaguars, what better time to check in with old friends?
I stupidly assumed this would be a quick post, but it was not. There are a TON of names to catch up with, between players drafted by Seattle (22 players currently signed by other teams), undrafted free agents, free agents, veterans, which is 29 other names for a total of 51+ players. Let’s find out who they are, where they are, and how they’re doing together.
