As an old guy, the only reason I know must of the cultural things you mentioned are through my kids, grandkids, and a subscription to Rolling Stone (still delivered to my door)!

The music and movies lists are interesting. I think a lot of the content is for kids, and that’s why many of us have never heard of them. Mrs Turtleman always starts our tv searches off with new/most popular/top 10 type lists and scrolls through them labeling them aloud, “seen it, shoot em up, baby movie, seen it, baby movie” and so on. (Any action movie is “shoot em up” and any kids or animated show not for adults is “baby movie.”) And I’m always stunned how many kid’s shows make the list. Not that there aren’t a lot of kids in the US and not that they don’t sit in front of TVs but for example on Netflix half of the top 10 can be children’s programming. In a house with no kids, I’d love lists that omitted those.
So much kids content! The only focus anymore is "How to get the most eyeballs or butts in seat" and making it "family appropriate" seems to be taking precedent over making quality content. the world had changed much in four years.

Four years ago you were an aspiring stand up comedian and ate anytime of the day or night you felt hungry. You didn't do yoga, rarely meditated and almost never ran. It's been a great four years and I'm glad to say I've been along for most of the ride.

I feel a little better now... I live in a sleepy, little town on the Oregon Coast and I was wondering if time was passing me by.
