Geno Smith is not holding out
Nobody has said that he should, which is actually kind of the interesting part about it: Seaside Joe 1974
Geno Smith holding out sounds absurd to me, so I assume it seems absurd to most of you. But just because something seems implausible, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s no basis for it. Compare Geno’s current situation to that of three quarterbacks who have asked for upgraded compensation from their teams in the last week and pretty much the player won every single negotiation. In the world of competitive negotiating in the NFL, the current score is:
Quarterbacks 3,547, Teams 1
(That one team being the Seahawks when they traded Russell Wilson’s few remaining touchdowns for two firsts and two seconds because he was asking for an early raise.)
