If competence makes them dominant, they’re still the dominant team.

In saying that, I think if it was only down to competence, they wouldn’t have been dominant for so long. There has to be some superior talent involved too. Competence and talent are different things and when there’s both, there’s more likely dominance.

I don’t like the Chiefs. Normally U wouldn’t care who wins the Super Bowl, but I am really hoping the Eagles run all over them. Barkley 200+ yards, Carter 3+ sacks. 2 strip sacks.

I’m not going to watch the game. The game against the Texans was horrible, and the game against the Bills was equally bad. If the Eagles win, I’ll watch a replay of the game. I’m focusing in on what the Seahawks can do to build a Super Bowl team. Free agency will be on us before you know it. They’ll need to make some roster moves to create cap space if they intent to make some bigger moves in the first stage of free agency. Last year was a disaster and even the cheap players they added cheaply in the later stages of FA were bad decisions. We know we have to get at least one, perhaps 2 O-lineman in free agency. Then depending on what you do with DK, Fant, Reed, Nwosu, Jones, Geno, … We could have needs at WR, TE, DL, Edge, ILB, and QB. There’s not enough money to fill all those holes. IMHO wide receiver, tight end, IDL and ILB will be easier to obtain serviceable quality in the draft than QB and edge. So I would focus on an edge replacement for Nwosu and a serviceable QB to compete with a draft pick and Howell to hold us over until next year’s draft. Of course the could extend Geno and Nwosu and that would lesson but not necessarily eliminate the need to use free agency to fix QB and edge.

While I am over the Chiefs (and Tay-Tay), I don't want it to be Cater who has a great game. I hear enough about how we passed on him for 'Spoon.

I got your back… The Eagles have a few players in that line who are capable of game changing disruption. Carter will take a back seat.

I like that much better. Carter can get some credit for soaking up double teams.

Whatever the stats may say, one thing everyone can see is that the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes always seem to come up big when it really matters. I guess I would call that record more than simply competent.

Right now Mahomes is thr beat QB, Andy Reid is the best HC and the Chiefs are the best team in the NFL. That is dominance. Period !

I'm really impressed with three pieces of the KC dynasty:

- the coaching staff which has consistently delivered top-tier w/l records despite injuries, several bottom-tier positions, and being the most analyzed/dissected and intensely game-planned team by its opponents in the league. No matter. They still prevail, never look outcoached. Has to be one of the best ever, no disrespect intended to Belichick or Lombardi

- Patrick Mahomes who will do whatever it takes. Doesn't care about "let Pat cook" or anything similar. He'll be explosive if they've got the talent; or if they don't, he'll do dink and dunk; and he'll always be there at the end, consistent as the day is long. And plays through pain.

- that NO ONE has still figured out how to shut down Mahomes-Kelce. Jesus. How many "money" plays has that guy made and still continues to make. Especially in the "money" games. Kelce has a .440 TD's/game avg during the reg season . But in the playoffs, he jumps up to .833, almost a TD every playoff game. Unbelievable

Josh Allen has fumbled TWELVE times in his playoff career. He has been pushed as being clutch in the playoffs by the media this playoff season. He did only lose 2 but 12 fumbles is outrageous.

“The Bills are the closest thing to a formidable opponent in the AFC and yet they’ve only even made two AFC Championships (0-2) during Allen’s seven years on the team.”

The big problem this year was that Allen had no one to throw to (one downfield completion in the second half). The Chiefs smothered a mediocre receiver group, which contributed to the Bills’ struggles in short-yardage situations—KC knew that Buffalo would run because Allen had no one to throw to. This was the difference.

Well, in the last 25 Super Bowls played, the AFC has won 16 of them. Until the NFC wins a bunch of them, I’m inclined to say the AFC is dominant.

KC is just so DAMN GREAT!!! It’s not about Mahomes, or Kelce, or Taylor Swift if we must… IT is all about TREMENDOUS Offensive and Defensive LINE PLAY… AND… Andy Reid’s leadership, presence, and play-calling!! We will see 3 in a row!!

I feel like we swapped Brady for Mahomes and am tired of the NFL falling all over themselves for Mahomes, Kelce, Swift on any given Sunday. That being said, in the few prime time games I have watched I caught myself thinking this team has got some kind of MAGIC. They just make some unbelievable plays in key moments and there just doesn’t seem to be any other explanation than chemistry. More than that, how is it that Kelce seems like he is ALWAYS open. It’s almost like he is allowed to run in from the sideline unguarded. I am baffled by his ability to just be “open”.

I like the Chiefs ability to reinvent themselves, it's what separates good teams from great teams.

We had wild new Mahomes pairs with bullshit speedsters. Then methodical Patriots-esque Chiefs built on secure D and a bullshit TE. Now we have the bullshit Swift buffed Chiefs.

Each time the team seemed to have been figured out, they've switched it up into something else and come back swinging.

It's the same pattern as we saw with the Patriots. There are good AFC teams, who'd be in the Top2-5 of NFC teams for sure. But when facing not only a good team in the season, but a great one over a dynasty, they look ordinary.

Watching greatness is usually boring, it's true in any sport. But we can still acknowledge that it is greatness!

The two best teams are in the Super Bowl. It’s hard to ask for more than that.

The next tier is within a roster tweak or a break here and there. To me, that’s Baltimore, Buffalo, Detroit, and the Los Angeles Rams. (Detroit is hard to slot because of all the injuries.)

The conferences seem evenly matched, although there are more top QBs in the AFC. That’s likely where the idea of AFC dominance comes from, not that I care.

I feel for the Bills fans. Those people have gone through the ringer for decades. Can you imagine the insanely incredible feat of going to four straight SB's and not winning even one of them? They have their franchise QB, and yet can't get over the hump of beating the Chiefs. I took a gander at the Bill's SB blog to see how they were reacting after their loss. Lots of folks were so mad at Coach McDermott. Such despair. I wasn't taking any glee in this, just more of curiosity. Albeit morbid curiosity.

I mean, as a Seattle sports fan, I can attest to hitting the lows of the lows. I think we all can especially 11 years ago. But, also, when the Supersonics lost to Denver in the first round playoffs in 1994 with Mutombo lying on his back in total ecstasy after the final buzzer. The first time an 8th seeded team won over a 1st seeded team in NBA history. That was brutal. I'll never forget that. Then SB 49 happened. So, we've been through the ringer. I have total empathy for fans that go through heartbreaking losses. Man, we all want that dopamine hit that winning it all brings.

The blaming of McDermott is just an instant reaction that's more of a lashing out. It's the blame of not giving the fans what they have craved and wanted for all those years. The thing is is that Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are the NFL version of Michael Jordan and Bulls of the 1990's. Nobody beat them. Stockton and Malone, Payton and Kemp. George Karl and Jerry Sloan. They couldn't do it. They tried. Great teams those were. Just couldn't beat Jordan and the Bulls. I kinda see the Bills like the Utah Jazz back then. Great team and coach. Just can't beat Jordan. The Bills still have a window with Allen. But, their story continues and possibly a better ending for them in the future.

I'm torn. I'm tired of the Chiefs winning, like all other non-Chiefs fans, but I've got no love for the Eagles either. The Chiefs have an opportunity to do something that no team has ever accomplished before, in winning three in a row, and that would be kind of awesome. As a fan with no skin in the game, I feel like I'd root against the Chiefs out of spite, and root for them just to witness an interesting bit of sports history. I guess I'd rather stare at the sky and "ooooo" and "ahhhh" during a solar eclipse than curse the moon for having the audacity to darken my day.
