Context is always important. Early in the game, our 3s on both sides of the ball were going against most of Green Bay's 1s, and they had a rookie playcaller. That's as tough of a challenge as that group has seen the entire offseason. It is probably useful to weed out the bubble players, to see who pops through in spite of the upside down competition, but that's about it.
If someone asked me before the game how I thought our practice squad going against their starters would look like, I'd say it would be super ugly with multiple turnovers, general inability to stop their offense, and our offense wouldn't be able to get anything going all game. How'd we do?
I also don't think it is valuable to evaluate individual performances as if this was a legitimate matchup. Of course Milroe had a horrible game. Who was his starting OL? Someone, Laumea, Meningitis, Cabeldue, Kight? See, I don't even know who they are... 5 sacks, 3 lost fumbles, a TD and no interceptions? Sounds about right. What would you realistically expect running the practice squad against their starters down? By the time they went against realistic competition, camp bodies and guys who will be on the couch in a week were playing.
Number 48 for the Packers…..hitting our guy as he is knocked out in on his back…I actually rewound the game just so I could get his number. Dirty play in preseason should cause automatic suspension.
Also, Bobo signaled for a fair catch and the packers hit him before the ball was out of his hands, yet no penalty. The hit appeared to cause Bobo to drop the ball.
I think Coach McD clearly treated this game differently than the Pack. I hardly knew any of the names I was seeing on the O-line. It was a specific kind of eval of the 2nd and 3rd string.
We did not play well. But the coaches got a pretty good look at the 'bubble'. And Milroe got a lesson from Malik Willis about how he might concentrate his game. Mostly he looked like a deer-in-the-headlights.
Impossible to evaluate the defense, which we all hope will be our strength. McD kept it under wraps for sure.
Three fumbles is too many, and suggests Milroe is not ready for snaps yet. It hasn't slowed down for him yet. That's OK. He's got plenty of time. Sorry about Bobo, but we have been very fortunate so far (knock wood) injuries wise.
Well sounds like, if there are a couple questionable spots that Bobo and Sims to IR with Mills gives them a few weeks. But rather have Bobo every game with his quality run blocking.
The good news...It was only an exhibition game and Bobo's injury looks managgeable . No other significant injuries reported. Cody White may have made the 53 as a kick returner/ 5th or 6th Wr. Once again I'vey looked good.
The bad news... the Jaren Milroe's ludicrous hype train crashed into reality, along with the absurd idea that he would supplant Drew Lock as QB.2 in the near future. After today's showing he's a long way from being a NFL QB. Maybe his athleteism can best be used as a Taysom Hiil " Slash ", RB. WR. KR. emergency QB.
Unlike the Packers, the Hawks used this game as a way to evaluate the last spots on the 53 without risking any major Injuries.

This is Dareke Young’s moment. Time to step up.

The referees didn’t bother to notice the packers players on that play…

Well now we know why disjointed play calling. That makes more sense. Between guys being cut. Rookie QB. And a “new” OC that helps with what we saw.

Thank God he's mostly alright at this time...I was kinda worried, it was awkward contact. Hopefully he will bounce back.
