I also predict a strong win. The word I would use for this game is “volatility.”
Let’s start on defense. The Bears have a good offense. If Seattle’s defense makes some errors, bad things will happen. And the scheme from Ben Johnson could lead to mistakes. They have a high time of possession, which could wear our heroes down. On the other hand, the defense is playing well, they smothered KC. MM has an additional day to plan for a more complex offense. The defense could dominate, but it’s a volatile situation.
On offense, we just saw their best game of the year. They left each huddle with precision and confidence. Darnold was snappy, save one late throw in the end zone. 100 yards for Wilson! Run blocking was strong and pass pro was amazing.
This week we face a team that wins with blitzes and has a weak secondary. If Darnold can quick snap 3rd downs again, the Bears’ D will be flat footed and JSN/Horton/Barner will feast.
On the flip side, Cross is out, Zabel is out of position, and Nelson is still working with flash cards to learn the terminology. Nelson is great, but Fleury runs a different protection scheme than does the Colts. When it works, expect explosive plays. When it doesn’t, it will blow up in our faces.
A Spoon DPOG game would look like his Super Bowl performance where arguably he should have been MVP. Very difficult for it to go to a defensive player (notwithstanding Malcolm Smith where I’d have given it to a different defensive player named Kam Chancellor) but I’d have chosen Spoon given the defense was the star of that game.
I've said it a dozen times at this point, you wanna see an MVP caliber performance, watch Gonzalez in that game. No shade on Spoon who was great, but Gonzalez played out of his skin on a defence where he got zero help.
For Spoon, you want an old-school style Sherman-esque game. 1-v-1 with the other teams Ace, and just shutting him the f- down. And not just shut down, but complete closure. Out muscle, out run, out play the main receiver. Aqib Talib was also a master of this, as was Darrelle Revis. Get ontop, stay ontop, and make some noise for yourself.
Dangit Joe, on my phone, all I saw was "JSN is out" until I clicked on it. Don't do that to me again!!!
That had me stressing too! Could he be messing with us?
