If JSN breaks the WR record he might win MVP. Might. I think that kind of record is the only way a non-QB wins, so we might get records from JSN and Myles in the same year and we'll then it goes to Garrett I'm sure.

Credit to Stafford, he's having a prime AR12 style year and just cruising. No records just peak QB play every other franchise (even the Chiefs) would trade their mother's to get. He's the best QB out there right now, somehow. That goes a long way in terms of recognition because QB is crazy hard to play let alone play well (as evidenced by the 20odd bad QBs that get to play each year).

Still the MVP should be the MVP. And make All Pro matter more as recognition of each positions best player. Fingers crossed JSN gets to 2000+, so we can righteously angry as we are about big Cal.

Made it to the letter! Honored.

Agree with most things said.

JSN is now down to 6th best odds to win MVP at 40-1. I wouldn’t say that is impossible and if someone wants to give me 100-1, I’ll take it,

The longer story is this: stafford deserves it. But what if they don’t end up the best team? What if the Seahawk have the best record? JSN is (probably) the most important player on the best team and he would be setting all time records.

Does that mean the voters will vote for him? I dont know, certainly wouldn’t say it’s probably, but the chance isn’t zero either.

I believe 4 non QBs have won the award in the last 25 years … maybe it is time for a new one?

Emmanuel Acho has an MVP vote? Did I misread? If he does that’s ridiculous. Only level headed people should vote for something like MVP.

I'm sure Mike McD is poring over the data from this game, particularly on defense. So many new faces in places that matter. Having a deep roster is so critical.

We need to turn the MVP/All Star voting into a reality show/fan voting system. Couldn't be any worse than the current system, could it?

If it goes to fan voting, nobody from outside of NY, Chicago, and LA will ever get the award

I have read several comments about how the Seahawks don't play as well for the full game or they let teams start to make a comeback. I don't know if there is a way to measure this, but how do you take into account how the injuries during the game are effecting the game? Okada was injured at the beginning of the third quarter and that was when the Titans started to score. Also Surratt and Holani were injured in the first half. If they had been available to play in the second half would the punt return for a touchdown been prevented? It seems like this has been a frequent story the whole season and people expect the team to play as well with the backups in as when the injuried starters were in. I think the coaches have been doing an amazing job getting the production out of the backups who probably didn't get as much game preparation as the starters. Considering how the players and coaches have been together for 18 months or much less, I think the coaches are doing an exceptional job. LA and Stafford are having a great year but he has been a part of that system for 5 years. Our offense is doing exceptional considering the new staff and player turnover.

End of rant.

Since our votes don't count, I vote that it should be against the rules to include contract language and/or other financial compensation that rewards winning MVP, OPOY, DPOY awards. All-pro and pro-bowl stipulations are fine, as those awards evaluate each position independently, and just as many centers win as QBs each season.

Relative positional value is already accounted for in contracts, and there are so many other ways to reward players that excel beyond their anticipated base contract value (statistical and playing time incentives, for example). If we have to keep these meaningless awards, the very least we should do is actually make them meaningless.

The offense seems to leave the urgency behind in the 2nd half or is it the play calling?

May the12s be with you and Go Seahawks!

JSN is incredible. But I do want Darnold to think about the fact that Shaheed had 500 receiving yards in 8 games with the Saints team and QBs. So much untapped talent there. The sooner he is perceived as a threat, the sooner JSN gets fewer DBs assigned to him.

My top concern for the Hawks was turnover going into the Titan’s game. Mission accomplished. If we have fewer turnover than the Rams, we beat them.

Up until now I’ve been hoping for an EDGE in the first round next year for the Hawks. But I watched a couple of highlight reels of Jeremiah Love this week. What if he slips to the back end of round 1. What if he’s available when the Hawks pick? Would people moan and groan about taking another RB? Taking another Love? If K9 walks in free agency? We can be the team of brotherly Loves.

I agree about Shaheed. I wouldn't think his role is perceived to only be a special teams and gadget guy by the coaches. I would like to see him more involved in the passing game beyond a couple targets a game.

Love would be a fantastic pick, IMO, however I would be surprised if he were available at our selection at 32nd in the first round.

I agree it is currently unlikely Love would be there at 32, but bigger slides have happened, and RB is one position many teams would not consider in round 1. If Walker is resigned, I would not be a fan of a Love pick, but I really liked what I saw on film. He’s very fast, has a combination of patience and decisiveness. When he picks a crease, no matter how small he hits it with a burst of acceleration. He seems to have good instincts, but he does have a Notre Dame O-line vs mostly inferior D-lines. But he is a legit sub 4.4 speed demon and has great hands and can run routes. There’s a lot to like, which is why he will likely go before we’re on the clock. That being said, on the slim chance he slides….

I would like to see Love slide just to watch Kiper melt down again. 😀

If we resign Walker I don't think it makes sense to select a running back with any of our draft choices.

Agree on both counts. So far, Lucas is the only one from that class extended. I thought we’d sign 3 or 4 of them. Still might….

If the MVP is not the actual Most-Valuable-Player, then I also don't know 'what are we doing here?'

Not that I'm fussed about it really. No more than where the Seahawks are in the NFL power rankings, or who was judged the 'best dressed' at the Oscars. I care that we get in the playoffs, that JSN continues to do JSN stuff in the playoffs, and that we hoist a trophy named after some fella named Lombardi. If he ends up not being MVP or OPOY would matter not. I'm not sure it would even matter that much to him, although I'm sure it will matter a great deal to his teammates and coaches. They'll take that shit personal.

The Seahawks 'protect a lead' strategy does need a little refining. It's leaving the defense on the field too much in the back half of what should be blowouts. I'm for the strategy 'crush all remaining hope'.

The Spotlights have moved on from us. Whew. Cool. Let Stafford and friends be the Measure everybody is looking to beat for the rest of this year. The Titans were no doubt edgy when an underrated team comes in to their home field favored by 2 TDs. The smart play is not to poke the Tennessee bear too hard. Never mind it also minimizes likely injuries. Leave the gloves on until Week 19 or better yet, Week 20, when the real season begins.

To me, the offensive line was the problem in the 4th quarter:

—With 3rd-and-3 at the Tennessee 41, Walker was stopped for no gain and Darnold was sacked for -4. Convert that first and Seattle likely winds up with at least a FG and a 33-17 lead

—After the defense stops the Titans on downs with 6:21 left, Charbonnet is tackled for no gain and Walker loses 4 on a pass behind the line of scrimmage.* A first down there and at worst the offense can the run clock down to under four minutes

It’s too bad because the OL had played decently until then.

* The play call didn’t help.

You dug it up, huevobueno.

"In 1982, Mark Moseley won the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, becoming the only kicker in history to achieve this honor. His performance was key to the Washington Redskins' Super Bowl XVII victory, and he also set an NFL record with a 95.2% field goal success rate (20 of 21) during the strike-shortened season."

As discussed, MVP appears to be a QB award. The QB is an offensive player. Therefore, logically, as MVP is ‘meant’ to be the best overall player (I.e. Most Valuable), then shouldn’t that player also be taking home the Offensive Player of the Year? If he’s the best player overall, then he’s the best offensive player overall too.

To quote the movie Highlander -

“There can be only one”.
