Past time to come up with an cool nickname for our Defense (QB Bashers?, Sea Wall?, Wrecking Crew?, Hawkzilla?,...something.). Our "Ready Squad" (Bull Pin?) has been awesome and a pod of killer starters are coming back! Our post bye week running game should ramp up a bit from the return of the 'Outzs Effect' (ie: being run over by a lead blocker). How does one defend against a two TE, two FB alignment when ANY of the above can (a) block you into the turf, AND/OR (b) catch a pass? I am sooo looking forward to our 'post bye' season. Even a few national NFL pundits are being forced to notice that Seattle has an NFL team! GO HAWKS!
DK’s penalties suggested he was out of control, undisciplined. Same as hhis route running. JSN’s celebrations have been an assertion of his absolute control. Same as his routes.
JSN has a great attitude overall, not even close to DK and his execution is much better... not allowing someone to knock the ball out of your arm for a safety, just before the end zone,,, not allowing someone much smaller than you to steal the ball out of your hands after a substantial pass catch (last game with Pittsburg against the Bengals that they lost by 2 points.
I'm all in favor of touchdown celebrations, it's the fun of the game. Still remember the pick 6 celebration by Justin Coleman when we played Dallas. He ran in at the right of the end zone, kept running to the middle and hopped into the Salvation Army kettle. That was fun.
This is entertainment after all. Let's lighten up on penalties for celebration.
I couldn't agree more. Also trying to understand why some celebrations are not called while others are. To the guys in stripes: Ease up and let the players have some fun.
JSN seems to be riding high on his confidence but try to reign it in just a little maybe...you're ultimately costing your team. Not trying to take away from what he's accomplishing, he just seems like he's in the playground talking smack to his buddies, just playing ball but if it ever costs something meaningful we're all going to view this discussion through a very different lense. Until then, keep playing at a high level and no one's gonna care too much.
I’m a fan of old school Survivor too - they need to get back to eating slugs and running marathons through the woods. The obstacle course - knots - puzzle crap is getting boring.
Here’s my idea for goal post dunks: if you dunk and actually move/damage the goal post, causing a big game delay, it’s a flagrant foul and you’re kicked out. That takes care of the problem with the 6-6, 260 guys, and lets the 6-0 195 guys do their magic.
Also, I was very impressed with how JSN handled being shoved to the bench on the Texans sideline. That ref who ran to his rescue is getting a lot of praise for his actions, and deservedly so, but JSN's handling of that situation was perfect and should be applauded and shown to every young football player out there. Put DK in that situation and tell me how you think it plays out.
I remember back when we drafted JSN and we were first getting to know him. In his interviews he was kind of soft-spoken and didn't seem overly aggressive or confrontational, but still came across as supremely cocky/confident. When Olave and Wilson said he was the best athlete of the bunch, he didn't contradict them, but just smiled and nodded and basically indicated that he agreed with their assessment of his superiority. I think he's the same guy as always but with a brighter spotlight on him now. In his mind he's never not been the best player on the field, and reality continues to prove him right.
I share the opinion that there's not a problem here at this point. Here's an imaginary conversation that definitely took place: Jaxon says, with a sheepish grin, "Hey, J-My. You cool with kicking a 48-yard extra point today? I really wanna dunk on the goal post and Mike and Jay say it's cool with them if it's cool with you." To which Jason replies, "Yeah, sure Jax. Have fun out there kiddo."
Is there a "cost of doing business" inside joke circulating the Seahawks facility? Are we in for more treats?
I wasn't there, I didn't hear anything. So maybe, but I just kind of don't think so.
I think we all wish he was Steve Largent, i.g. White Guy, but he isn't, and we're all kind of annoyed that he's a bit of a show off, but we're OK with it because he's so cool. We only wish we were that awesome.
When one says about JSN that "we all wish he was..." a "White Guy", who is the " we" referred to? Do the "we" referred to wear pointy bed sheets with eye holes to meetings by any chance?
Yeah, agreed. If not for blacks, football wouldn't even be the game it is today. Blacks are just superior athletes on the whole and there are plenty of cocky white guys. That's not an identifier of one or the other. JSN has a good attitude. I have no complaints, just don't lose 15 yards on a ball spin after the reception again.
Yesterday, MacAfee was kicking himself for not recognizing Jax after his 300+ yards receiving in the Rose(?) Bowl. "What the hell have I been thinking ignoring this guy? It's been there for anyone to see!" (Or something to that effect...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF6mz3IeJDk
The League wants to shut down revelling. It's a rough sport. The humor will likely be rough. What charges these men to shout with glee and drive their passions further needs to remain as undefined as civil law allows. The penalties thus far levelled have been relatively harmless, moving back our kicking spots. Big deal. I'm thinking Jax keeps this in mind. The League needs to review their premises on controlling what drives the game and the wisdom of building safe spaces during ass-kicking events. Bad Boys on a Ruff. HooAh. Tongue-lash fainting not encouraged.
When triggered the first taunting call with the ball spin. I started wondering if that was the start of diva behavior. Granted, he does not talk trash or have a boisterous personality. But his celebration choices are definitely pointing to diva traits.
One thing I do want to see: a better connection between Darnold and people not JSN. Gotta decoy with him more. 1. Because if JSN gets hurt, even if it’s minor, that’s big. 2. Because the blanket on JSN means someone else will be open. They’ve done the run-to-pass look to great success. Now they need to exploit the #notjsn….
I for one loved the trick play (on the SSJ chat I made that comment and said "fight me" ;). Maybe it was situationally dumb, but doesn't Dan Campbell do a number of situationally dumb things up in Detroit? And look how his players go to battle for him. I think it's great to give some joy of the game moments to the guys. Andy Reid does it all the time (not trying to say Klint is Andy quite yet or anything) and you can tell his guys buy in. You can't do it every play or every game, but isn't keeping the joy worth it sometimes?
I love this comment and the original comment from Jake, called out in the article, pointing out that Kupp and JSN probably love that play and had a blast practicing it. Trick plays are inherently risky and we've been pretty bad at executing them so far this year. But I say keep dialing them up, Klint. It's exciting to watch and you know the players love it. Games should be fun!
I don't mind trick plays but it feels like when we are try to pull them off we just let the other team right back into the game. That is my only qualm with it.
Joe: Tell us a little bit more about assistant head coach Leslie Frazier. Is he still a part of the team? What does he do that PC couldn't have done? Talk to us.
Once again another great article SSJ! I am so happy with the changes in the offense in 2025 in so many ways especially the personalities. It feels like 2012 to me and I will be losing my mind if the defense and offense have the same ranking in late November as they do today. Go Hawks!
JSN v Metcalf penalties isn't even a close comparison. JSNs penalties were all post-TD, costing us yards on extra points, which is still a very makeable distance for Myers.
DKs penalties were usually off ball and on 3rd and long, making it 3rd and longer. And sometimes it was after a big play that we needed and it killed the momentum.
Post TD celebration penalties are not the same as mid-drive penalties that force you to punt.
Until I reads everyone's notes about JSN, it wasn't even on my radar. When we start losing because of his penalties, than I will be on board with coming down on him. But when your best offensive player wants to party, you let him.
But also - going back to the Texans defense of it all, and looking forward to week 9 against the Commanders. I'm cherry picking a little bit, but per Pro Football Reference, the Commies are ranked 29th in Net Yards Gained Per Pass Attempt (7.1). The next worst team in NY/A the Seahawks have faced were the Saints at 26th (6.7). Do I even need to share our passing stats for that game??? JSN And the Boys are going to feast.

Hope TL retires with us soon. It’s time Tyler. It’s time.😉

I could be wrong but it seemed to me that the refs were fed up with DK and were looking for reasons to call something on him.
I couldn't agree more. Also trying to understand why some celebrations are not called while others are. To the guys in stripes: Ease up and let the players have some fun.
BTW, I saw an article today about JSN's great game and title of the article was that the one ref did a better job of covering JSN than the Texans did.
LOL!

Nah. Make ‘em kick through those moving goal posts!

DK would definitely miss about 2 games worth of checks if that was him. And we would be on our own 1 yard line regardless of where we started.
Push- don't shove...

Speak for yourself. Let's leave the racist commentary out of this. JSN is great just as he is, and I don't wish he was anyone else.

I think DK has had some more disrespectful TD celebrations ... https://www.tiktok.com/@cbssportscfb/video/7304411994591857963

** Texans are ranked 6th (5.4 NY/A) **
I could make a case for denying DK to hump the goalpost led to more angry acts.
