I always pay attention to players' personalities. I perceive Julian Love to be a very friendly man, even disposition, very intelligent. He seems an efficient safety; a sure enough tackler (obviously a necessity for a safety) but not a scary presence the way Kam was. He'll get the job done most of the time, be it pass or run. If Emmanwori turns out to be Kam.2, I'll be happy to see JL as a capable counterpart/ mentor who's not burdened with Thomas' edgy/volatile personality type. No disrespect meant toward ET; he and Kam were the "boom" in the LOB.
I just watched the YouTube of OC Klint K. being interviewed and someone asked him what he thinks the number one attribute for the best running backs is? And he answered very quickly with "intelligence". Then when he was talking about our running backs, he chose to bring up how intelligent Charbonnet is, and how he is coming to his office to talk about improving or something like that. Don't quote me, just watch the interview for yourself, but I got the impression that if K9 misses the hole once too often, Charbonnet may become the lead back. I would not have thought that yesterday, and I know some of you are already there because of Charbonnet's work last year where he had better average gain per run than K9.
Then when I heard what Klint K said about what he appreciated about the changes that are coming about in the game overall in the last 8 years, and he said, the influx of personnel to help prepare by watching ALL the film of a team instead of just the last four games as they used to. Now there are lots more coaches, so they use them to get an edge. They are thinking not just how to set up their plays with multiple options of a single formation, and then he said they communicate to every player to start each play the same for all the different versions of that formation. Then the coaches are being asked to consider the different ways different defense will react with different players, and having counter moves ready if they can successfully stop our offense.
All together it seems to me that what I have said all along is that Football is a Coaches game. They can't do it without the players, but they get to choose who they want and who they want is part of their success of failure. It's all connected, but coaches can have an even greater effect if they have more people thinking about every alternative ahead of time. Before and better than the other team.. The coaches are more responsible for winning or losing than anyone else individually. IMO, of course. Anyways,
What if Coby Bryant only expects a modest salary? Even with Emmanwari doing better than expected or even being brilliant, having Coby might make sense if Mcdonald is thinking about using Nick E. as a wild card all over the field including rushing the passer. Making him one of only two good safeties might lock him into a traditional role rather than allowing him to roam around and be unpredictable.
Very high on Emmanwori and his long term additions to the D. All accounts from camp are that he is a quick study and has built a great relationship with Spoon. That in itself is fantastic, as DBs who "get" each other tend to trust the other is doing what they need to so they don't hesitate on coverage, afraid that the other guys aren't in position. Earl and Sherm had it ( I know they don't play the same positions), and that turned out pretty good. If the DBs are all gelling this early in camp, I am pretty confident the D will be okay this season.
Thanks SSJ, for putting out content even when you’re traveling. I think there is a possibility Bryant does get extended. He’s got a nose for the ball and plays very intelligently. I feel either he or Cross is the first of the 2022 class to be extended, and I say this because I feel his extension will be cheap. I believe he wants to stay in Seattle and loves playing for MM. D’Anthony Bell is a player who I feel will be on the 53. He led Cleveland in special teams snaps last year, and he’s a versatile safety that can play in the box or deep. He’s also a very goos tackler. Love, Bryant, Emmanwori and Bell would be an awesome safety room.
Watching Julian Love the past couple of seasons has been a lot of fun. He rarely makes mistakes and often comes up with key stops. He’s not as flashy as rather Earl or Kam, but I think he’s tremendously effective.
Our safeties are gonna be a LOT of fun to watch this season.
Hope seaside Joe is enjoying time the sea side!

I think Jerrod Reed could be a real sleeper if he could stay healthy. Those 4 would be the best safety room in the league,!!

I’ll be at the fan fest at Lumen field today. If anything strikes me remarkably, I’ll remark to you guys in the SSJ chat thread.
Darnold looks really good. Long drive, good passing and Charbonet breaking a run behind Ouzts
Olu and Sundell with the ones again
Not much of Haynes either
K9 has not been out there. I’m not aware of any injuries. Maybe he is in bubble wrap
Olu and Bradford now are with the ones
Milroe looked good with the threes, a designed QB draw and later a TD pass
MVS is with the twos
Horton is with the ones in 11 personal
Sundell with the ones at RG
Olu now with the ones
Milroe on an option read pulls the ball back and breaks free around the end for a long gain
Sundell out there at center with the ones
1st 2nd and 3rd team O and D take a turn 11 on 11, defense wins all three series. Milroe runs for a first on third and long
Horton also first kick returner
Tory Horton first up returning punts
Brady Russell is the long snapper in warm ups. I know Chris Stoll was limping in yesterday’s practice. No word that I have on an injury.
