An early Q & A for this week for anyone who knows. The Seahawks entered the year with only Love and Okada as deep safeties. Okada is out and has yet to practice. That leaves Love alone, but they signed FINLEY to the 53 week one, and now have twice elevated Rodney Thomas to the 53 from the Ready Squad weeks 1 and 2. I’m pretty sure Thomas is a vested vet. Assuming Okada does not make it back this week, next week’s Commanders game will be his 3rd elevation. Are vested vets subject to the 4 elevation rule for the season? Did the Seahawks make a mistake signing Finley to the 53 instead of Thomas? Are teams eligible to poach Thomas, and if not now, when can he be poached? I personally think Thomas had played near the equal to Okada with very little drop in DB play. He’s played near all snaps both week one and two.
Thought this game was a great measuring stick for folks to appreciate Julian Love, since perennial Pro Bowl Budda Baker was right there on the same field. Maybe not fair bc AZ doesn't have anyone close to JSN (although McBride may be the TE-equivalent), but it sure seemed clear to me which of the two should be the All-Pro.
Expect to see this Team two more times this year. Yesterday was one of the best fought games I have ever seen. Move over, Frisco and LA. We now have a true Measure of ourselves. The Cardinals are back. Now they need their fans to show up. Half the crowd wore blue.
- all three wild card teams come out of the NFC West (has any division ever done that?)
- they surpass someone else in the NFC West (Niners look even better than I had expected, would that mean the mighty Rams miss the playoffs entirely??)
I saw most of the Rams' Melt-Down-Under and also some of the feisty Giants' squashing of the Cowboys. Immediately asked myself the same question you just did about the Rams home opener....
Harbaugh had his pick of 'where to go to?' and chose what young QB Dart was offering. Grabbing Skattaboo was a bonus. Plus, their Team was voting for what they were seeing/hearing. It's about chasing the Love of Football.
JL is also a class act based on how he presents to the press. As one of the more prominent faces of the team, he does his organization proud with his easygoing intelligence, humility and humor. I think that matters.
Julian Love has gone from quietly good to obviously great. Two games in, he’s the Seahawks DPOY. Apparently, he was playing hurt last year. If he stays healthy, he could lead the team in interceptions.
Let's add Chenna to the list of guys getting back to 100% healthy. The first half was a furious test of this Team's resolve. Chenna and Julian elevated their Game under such conditions. Only Champions do this. To come back from very serious injury puts them in a rare Class.
One of the hidden benefits of a great DL is it forces teams into passing situations and hurried passes -- tailor-made for the ballhawks. That's why it's such a toss-up for me, between Love and Leonard and Murphy. Hope we can keep all three!
So the Hawks can’t keep everyone at the top of the market year after year. I think next year somebody we love will leave Seattle. The question is who. I think Julian is a prime suspect, but there are others…. Plus all the draft picks next year???

I ❤️ Love! That being said, safeties don’t age well. Of the 72 All-Pro safeties since 2016, only eight were older than 29.

Very important point: Love is not a spotlight-seeker and therefore feeds the team mantra -- super super important.
