Per Next Gen Stats:

When facing sets that feature multiple tight ends or an extra offensive lineman, the Seahawks defense has matched with five or more defensive backs 75.3% of the time this season, the highest rate in the NFL.

They have faced 13 personnel on just 12 snaps, choosing to match with five or more defensive backs on 8 of those plays. In addition to matching with lighter personnel more often than any other defense, they have allowed a league-low 3.8 yards per play against these groupings.

Stafford’s back is MUCH better, fully healed, now that he and his lovely wife sleep on a Sleep Number (TM) bed.

Cue Sir Mick “… how white my shirts can BE, …”

Play it loud: https://genius.com/The-rolling-stones-i-cant-get-no-satisfaction-lyrics

and ad man Stafford might continue to:

“… baby better come back, maybe next week, cause you see I’m on a losing streak, I can’t GET no,

hey hey hey, that’s what I’ll say!”

KenJoe - suggestion for future poll Q:

Who’s the most puzzling NFL player in ads?

My 1st thought is McCaff. Non-smiling mumbler, & not an interesting fellow imho - you appeal to 9er fans, Stanford, who else?

Not puzzling but surprisingly good: Teddy Bridgewater.

Agreed, I didn’t realize he un-retired … but he’s great in that role!

It is interesting to note that K-9’s stats so far are almost identical to Saquon Barkley this season. Mostly due to Barkley’s pace being half of what he did last year.

I have always struggled with K-9’s value - never sure how much his declining performance was him, line, injuries, or some combination of those. Good to see him rebounding this year, but I am still not convinced we should pay much above average to keep him. We will have options.

The post-Russell drafts always bothered me, specifically the 4 second round picks, because we used them on Edge and RB two years in a row - K-9 then Charb, Mafe then Hall. There was argument about using a 2nd for RB - and then we did it again for a 2nd string RB?? Hall also seemed to be a step down from Mafe - and now I wonder if either will get a 2nd contract with us.

Lastly, on the RB topic, it always seems that the Rams run a well-balanced run-pass offense with RB’s from mid-rounds or free agency. Kyren - 5th, Corum - 3rd. Traded late picks for Sony Michel, a failed 1st rounder and won SB, out of NFL after next year. And before that, remember the Goff SB year when Gurley got hurt and they brought in CJ Anderson as an FA in December, and he carried them thru the playoffs? It all just makes me think that a strong offense with an effective OL can find RBs as good or better than our current crew. Or we resign these guys at average value. We already overpaid in the draft, and I sure hope we don’t do it again.

The old Denver Bronco's model when Alex Gibbs was the o-line coach. They got it blocked up and any random RB could run to daylight. And it worked. Those RB's never performed the same on other teams.

For as much as the Vikings allowed Sam 9 assaults the last time he was in LA, not to mention the many close-calls, I hope Our Guys take up for him Sunday. He was running for his life and his "teammates" shrugged last year. We can correct that obscenity this Sunday. They didn't want him back. I get it. Still shameful. I recall the Oakland Raiders doing it to Carr some 10 years back.

I was one that was really high on walker coming out of college. I saw him play a few times when I was traveling and was just blown away by his explosiveness...him and nailor. But you're right, money vs productivity vs potential. I just want to win so whatever happens...but I like Walker.

Appreciate the feedback on the Q! As you say, those catches allowed need to be looked at schematically and many do seem to be consistent with the Hawks D wanting to keep everything in front of them relative to down and distance. Looking forward to watching how MM deploys the new #3 against 12/13 personnel. My all time favorite player is Kam Chancellor so seeing the modern day version of him be on the Hawks is quite a treat. Should be a good watch.

The fact that its a chess game on both sides of the ball should make it an even better sit down. One thing is being excited to watch your team play, but I am really enjoying the fact that there are high-level offensive and defensive elements that should make for a masterclass in the execution of modern D and O concepts outside of one's allegiance. Can't wait!

Momentum for Emmanwori as DROY is mounting which is impressive for a guy who started the year injured. I did not think he would have that big of an impact this year and he’s still gonna be a liability in some coverage assignments but overall a great defensive weapon.

I do Fantasy with a few buddies each year in a pretty non-serious way. It's just a way for us to talk about football, our different teams, and find new angels to enjoy non-Hawks games. I think any fantasy interactions beyond that are missing the point of Fantasy (office leagues are fine, they fall in the casual friendly category).

For example I fielded Darnold last week (Burrow on IR. Dart banged up). He did awful in fantasy terms! I couldn't be happier!!! We smashed the heck outta the Cards. That's all that matters.

I hope every week Darnold throws 16 passes and we win by 20+ inside a half. Not least I've been rocking our D all fantasy season long hahahahah

I love fantasy football, but I've discovered that I only love it when I don't take it too seriously.

Dipping my toes back into it with my wife this year does bring back some of the excitement (and anxiety) of following players I otherwise would not care about. I feel pressure for her to win her office league.

I never did fantasy, but did one year and I'll never do it again. It makes you look at the game in a weird way and value things that are not normally important. It was hard on my head.

That was my experience. I did it one year, and it ruined Sundays. I was hoping for teams I hate, disappointed after a Seahawks win, etc. It was messed up. I haven't touched it since.

My question about a future Kenneth Walker contract makes less sense now after seeing it again and reading SSJ's response to it. My brain is under the influence of fantasy football and incorrectly assumed this would be K9's year as an elite RB, statistically speaking. It was indeed a theoretical question, but you also had to read my mind to know that I assumed a good "fantasy season" for my favorite RB.

Still, SSJ mostly addressed what I was fishing for, in how JS and other GMs might view K9 this offseason, and what his free agent price tag might be. This topic will be far more relevant after the season ends and we know what we know.

It is a very fluid situation which is why I hesitate to answer now because the fortunes of a RB can change immensely in two months. We’ve never seen a fresh legs Walker in the playoffs.

McVay announced a new "o-5" defense configuration using all tight ends, during his recent appearance at the podium. Maybe he was joking. I don't watch him much to tell.

Interesting as I believe they only have 4 "official" TEs on the roster. Maybe convert a safety or LB to TE if he is serious or a lineman.

They just use an OLman and have him report in eligible plus 4 TE's. However, it occurred to me that if Puka is off the field, that's a good thing. 5 TE's means no WR's and that sounds good to me. It will most likely be a running play. So Spoon will need to slip behind those blockers and get a tackle for loss.
