Publicly the organization has actually been kind of adamant that Geno is next years QB. For whatever that is worth in the NFL.

"... but nobody goes to a baseball game to watch bunts, walks, and singles."

If'n the Mariners had plenty of walks, singles 'n scoring bunts that would be exciting for me. Mickey Rivers drag-bunts which outran the ball 'n was safe was super exciting!

Ichiro did similar. Even though he was right-handed, his Dad taught him to hit lefty so he'd be a step faster to 1st base.

Loved watching Mickey R. take 137 pigeon-toed steps to walk from the on-deck circle to the batter’s box!

Those quotes were awesome! Sounds like if Yogi Berra and Bob Uecker had a baby.

Thanks, Paul, Mickey is one of my favorite of All Time players, along with Ichiro.

Liked the way that Mr. Rivers ran out to the outfield taking short, energy conserving steps. Then, when he needed to use his full speed, he excelled.

dang, "Mickey Rivers was born on October 30, 1948.", didn't know that he was only a little over 7 months older than i am.

Whenever Mickey came up to bat, my roommate would sing “Mickey Rivers to cross.”

Combine is not important to teams any more. That's fine. Interviews yes, but in the modern age even there are less needed. The Combine however does matter for the NFL and the general fans.

For the NFL it keeps them in the conversation. The NFL are the kings of creating spotlight! The Combine keeps them up there in people's minds, build that brand etc etc. It's good for fans as it's the first chance most will get to see these prospects in action. I also value that direct comparison, yes tape is good but seeing two players do the same drill back to back really highlights key aspects.

Trey Smith ain't going to reach the market. I don't think Dalman will either. Continuing to mentally prep myself for even a 3rd tier FA lineman signing at best, and to run it back on Smith and DK, and basically have a very safe splash free off-season.

JS will be definitely earning his $$ this off-season… I think they are bluffing on keeping Geno to set up a trade scenario.. But…. Will we go JJ McCarthy?? He’s untested

I wouldn’t understand going for McCarthy when they have Howell. Howell has experience and a better arm. Plus he’s millions cheaper.

He absolutely should be. I don't know what Sam Howell could be, but hopefully Kubiak can get more out of him than he showed in training camp and in the limited action he saw last year. Even if Geno is still here, any NFL QB should be pushing to get better and to show he's a starter in the league. He's still young, so lots of opportunity to improve.
