I just finished reading a list that said KK is the 5th best new coach hire of the year. I'm not quibbling about his place on the list, only that it hasn't happened yet. I suppose it's a totally done deal, but deep down in my heart, I don't want it to be true. I trust JS/MM have it all figured out and everything will be OK, but I don't want to break up the gang.

Bye Klint, we hardly KKnew ya

I just hope John Benton doesn't go with him...

I just hope HC MM promotes an internal candidate that maintains our continuity on Offense or takes it to a higher level with someone we aren’t aware of.

HC MM knows who the offensive geniuses are in this league, b/c he is a Defensive genius!

Fun Fact: If Seahawks win (actually WHEN they win) SB, we will have the same number of SB Victories as the Stinking Rams - 2! Rams have been SB eligible 59 years, Seahawks 49 years…

First SB was

Does Leslie Frazier figure into our near future?

I join other members of this community to say I hope that KK's replacement will come from inside the organization. I would like to see continuity from this offense, which includes adding the fresh perspective of a former assistant but staying largely within the current framework for the offense. This is particularly preferable if the team can resign K9, and then reset the room following the Charbs and KMac injuries

Working for the Raider's ownership is almost as bad as the Cards or the Browns ! I wish KK all the best but he better turn this dumpster fire of a team around in a hurry ( 500 ball in 3 years or less) or he's gone. I think Davis' well known lack of patience may keep our own assistant coaches in Seattle. Now let's get on with winning the SB.

Kubiak is going to need lots of defenseive coaching. How many current Hawk defensive coaches will he target, and which ones?

Grant Alden's avatar

Oh. Durde for DC?

JRaq's avatar

Not real smart for Durde to leave this soon when he's working under the Defensive wizard. There's a lot more to learn than in just one season under Mike. Better to stay and marinate a while, pick up as much as you can.

Bill H's avatar

If Durde gets it, Hawks get a 3rd round pick in 2027 - minority coach hire!

That is OK with me 😎

Seahawks For Sale…Food for thought…

If this is true, the new owner could be as follows:

The Washington State Retirement Board has approximately $230 Billion in assets invested in various investments. If Paul Allen purchased the team in 1997 for $197 million, and today its valued at north of $7 billion, that’s an incredible return for 29 year of holding this asset. The Retirement board could fund this and it would be an incredible investment to hold with that history of appreciation. They could create a company to management too. A second plan would be to set up a holding company and do a public offering of equity (stocks) issues to generate the capital to purchase the team. This is similar to how the Green Bay Packers are owned by their own fans and many local people in and around Green Bay.

I think Paul Allen would want to keep the ownership of this priceless asset in local hands, by people who live here and have loved the team thought it’s 50 year history.

LETS KEEP THE SEAHAWKS IN THE HANDS OF ITS FANS AND RESIDENTS!!!

Local ownership is written into the contract for whoever the successor is, I believe. Bezos is a chief player, I think, and could probably still qualify with still having a residence here in town. Another possibility I heard and like is that Jody Allen, who already has a vested interest, could buy it from the trust for herself.

Long ago lived with a bond trader for the board. I doubt the laws or the league would allow.

BR just graded the HC hires. Only Giants and Raiders got full A. Cards actually got A- which seems odd considering LaFleur only has name recognition not high quality coaching background. But a SB winning coach and a young SB play calling, and hopefully soon Ring wearing OC got the grades. Browns of course another F hiring.

As I wrote earlier, Kubiak is more about pedigree than nepotism.

BEASTMODE808's avatar

Good luck, KK. Let's win the SB first please.

Perhaps they'll trade Maxx to us for additional draft capital to enhance their rebuild?

K Man's avatar

Full court press to keep Benton, and Peetz as OC.

Dale's avatar

Agree except I’d probably have Benton as OC.

After you've seen it all and done it all, what becomes important? Can I get these Boys to the Super Bowl? (check). Can we repeat? Then repeat that and still do it again? Keep the FUN of Football alive? Re-invigorate the Sport? What defines a life well-lived?

Seaside Joe's avatar

That's my thinking.

zezinhom400's avatar

I thought this couldn’t happen until after the Super Bowl. I realize it’s just a Schecrer report (and his last one about “all jobs full by Wed” was wrong) but at what point is this tampering or whatever and someone is docked a draft pick?

You might ask if I’m a little salty…guess I am…in addition to wishing he’d have stayed, afraid a few more of our staff go with him…

Seaside Joe's avatar

In 2018, the 49ers did the same thing with Kyle Shanahan. They interviewed him during the wild card bye and then again during the Super Bowl bye. They waited and it became known that once the Super Bowl was over, they would hire Shanahan, which they did.

The league has to have some rules in place, but they also can't be in the business of punishing coaches who literally hit the height of their jobs as coordinators and reached the Super Bowl. Kubiak deserves every right to be a HC as those who failed earlier than he did. And if we're now saying "Don't offer or accept anything until your season is actually over", we're punishing those coaches into staying in roles that they don't deserve if a team wants to hire them as a head coach and can't because they keep winning.

It makes sense to not hire Robert Saleh in between WC weekend and division weekend. It does not really make sense to ban teams from coming to some agreement with a coach in the two weeks between NFC CG and Super Bowl. Kubiak/Raiders are already at a huge disadvantage by the fact that he's not helping scout the draft, they don't have a coaching staff, and they'll be the last team to make new hires.

Which is why you end up with Ryan Grubb as your OC.

Randall Murray's avatar

Also of note. Ex Falcons HC Raheem Morris now Whiners DC.

Bill H's avatar

Raheem Morris is best Seahawks could home for!

As an (EX) Falcons Fan, that guy is a DUD!

Randall Murray's avatar

Oh wasn’t posting about him being an issue for us just the news. I’m glad Selah is gone though!

KHammarling's avatar

OC - I've been a huge Peetz fan forever. If we're going internal i'd want him to step up as OC. Bit of a gamble but the guy's resume is stacked and someone is going to give him a shot eventually, why not us?

Similar vein, poaching Nathan Scheelhaase from the Rams would be fun. Another case of no previous Coordinator experience, but a strong resume as a coach. Both of these options would be gambles that could blow up in a massive way. But worth a shot.

No idea if it'd be possible but i'd love to lure Grant Udinski away from the Jags.

Not sure if we could get Will Stein having just taken the Kentucky HC job, shame he'd have been fun. Garrett Riley, formerly of Clemson & TCU, is another college guy i think's done good work and is in range of stepping up to the NFL.

Or a name i mentioned a few weeks ago, Ben Arbuckle. Currently Oklahoma, formerly Washington State and Western Kentucky. I really like this young gun's work. Gamble on someone so young but c'mon why not do something a little crazy?

Randall Murray's avatar

And if you have support around a youngster and with an experienced offensive roster, unlike what Coach K is going to, that can aid a younger less experienced guy. With that said look what happened with Grubb. Going to depend a lot on how much Coach K pilfers from us. And now Rams are looking for an OC.

KHammarling's avatar

Easier for the Rams to risk a younger inexperienced OC, because McVay is there as the primary coach for the offense. Whoever we get will have to take the lead, which makes the risk greater - I just don't see an experienced name i get excited by that is realistic (Udinski I like a lot, but don't see him leaving the Jags. LaFleur i'd have liked but Cards have got him.

Maybe Tim Kelly from the Giants? He's lost the OC role. Experience with the Titans and Texans as OC, but it's not really blowing me away.

Looking Joe Lombardi could be a man to phone. Broncos OC since '23 & Chargers before then. More I look more I like his resume actually. Hmmm this could be a good guy to at least interview.

Randall Murray's avatar

Too bad Tomlin isn’t an offensive coach. Experience and smarts and great attitude coach to come in would be good PR.
