The first edition of this newslettear had a typo. I wrote "Eskridge didn't miss the whole season like Jamal Adams" when I meant to write Goodwin. Hard to not mix these two up.

The Seahawks received outstanding value on signing Goodwin. He doesn't seem to have lost any speed and he has great hands--some of his catches were A+++. I would defiitely bring him back but... waiting until round 6/7 to draft a WR would be a mistake. This is another good reason to flip the Dener 1 for additonal picks in the top 60, one of which should be used on a WR.

This is correct. Not addressing receiver this upcoming offseason would, in my view, be a huge mistake.

I don't think there's any question Seattle needs to take a WR in the draft if there's one who's a good value. Last season, WRs seemed to be flying off the shelf. No doubt because they've become so expensive to re-sign. Hopefully it works out better than the second rounder we spent on Eskridge (and more like the second rounder expended on DK).

Yes, we need another option at receiver, specifically a run-after-catch guy. That's something glaringly absent and they drafted Eskridge to fill that void. There are several of those guys in this draft but most are small and likely to be injury prone in the pros. Even Deebo Samuel, the NFL's premier RAC receiver has had injury problems and he's a good size guy. We need Golden Tate... ten years younger.

Parker Washington from Penn State is what they apparently call a "power slot". He's 5'10" and 212 lbs and plays like a running backing breaking 31 tackles after the catch this year. He could be a hot commodity in the draft (if he declares) in this Deebo Samuel crazy world. Josh Downs, Zay Flowers, and Nathaniel Dell are smaller guys who are impossible to cover but can they survive? I'm not a big Jordan Addison fan.

I did mention this in my vision yesterday, Dareke Young will catch two passes and one gets us inside the ten to the 8 yard line and we score from there. You would think with Goodwin out (what a shame) it would increase Youngs chances and that maybe true. My vision was that Young would end up with the fifth best cover guy on him, after all the only ball thrown to him was called back due to a penalty and likely the Jets won't have seen it. Waldron should run 3 or 4 plays where Lockett and Metcalf can each be a decoy for Young. Dareke has played in 11 out of 15 games, and has contributed on teams and Carroll says he has blocked well. He deserves a chance he has 0 offensive stats for the year. Young looked to have talent as a receiver in the preseason. George Fant had one catch on one pass in his last season with us. LET DAREKE COOK !!!!

yes - very good signing indeed

the kind of talent needed and the cost of high end WRs, it is abundantly clear that teams need to reload constantly. Being that it often takes a couple years to become the WR that has been anticipated, and not all drafted WRs become as teams hoped, I submit a Primo WR needs to be drafted at least every two years.

Mid-to-late draft hopefuls should also be peppered in on the regular as well. Retreads and reclamations like Marquis Goodwin and Laquon Treadwell can become worthy and are worthwhile endeavors.

Off topic: watching Mich and TCU and I want Max Dugan on the Seahawks.

Goodwin was a good signing, in my opinion. Obviously, Eskridge is looking like a wasted pick. Like many of us, I wanted Creed Humphrey. But I've admitted before I was sky high on tons of draft prospects who didn't pan out in the league but maybe at no position more often than WR.

Anybody you particularly like this year at the position (any questions are asking Ken and all Seasiders)? Quentin Johnson at TCU comes to mind, and Addison, Flowers, and Smith-Njigba are mocked in the 1st/high 2nd, but only Johnson and Flowers jumped off the screen at me when I've had games on on Saturdays. I swear I think Bijan Robinson could convert to receiver and still be better than a lot of prospects this year. There's not a single Jameson Williams type guy that I've seen. I remember thinking we might be able to get Jameson with one of our 40-41 picks because of his injury, but he got snapped up near the top 10. Eh, at least we got Ken Walker.

Is this a draft without as much top 5-10 talent as some are saying? Is this a year where if our most coveted prospect goes before our selection we should trade down? If we miraculously wind up with #1 overall, would you take Young, someone else or trade for a package? Any wideouts projected to be in the first wave of free-agency you'd pony up for on a bigger contract?

Love to see what Cade Johnson can do! All he does is get open and catch the ball, somethings that Eskridge can't do! Kinda of a Largent light.

Goodwin was a good cheap signing. With his speed he helps take the top off defenses. Should be back next year.

Hawks have too many bigger needs than a high draft choice for a 3rd or 4th receiver.
