In last week’s survey asking Seahawks fans who they would most like to have dinner with, Marshawn Lynch’s name came up 37 times, which is a hefty 16% of you. Well, technically it came up 36 times, with one of you either accidentally (or cleverly) calling him “Marshawn Lunch”.
Here were some of the other most popular answers:
Kam Chancellor
Bobby Wagner
Doug Baldwin
John Schneider
Kenny Easley
Pete Carroll
Richard Sherman
Steve Largent
Tyler Lockett
In fact, Carroll’s name came up 39 times, even more than Marshawn, but I can’t improve upon the headline “My Dinner with Marshawndre” in any way, shape, or form. Except maybe it should have been My Dinner with Marsh-andre?
Largent was the third-most popular answer at 31 times, including one person who voted that Largent was 1b to Carroll’s 1a.
Astoundingly — although I guess it shouldn’t surprise us at this point — Russell Wilson’s name came up just ONCE. This is where we are at with the franchise’s only Super Bowl-winning quarterback in history. Actually, Ciera’s name came up as often as Russ!
Some other answers:
Dan Doornink (3 times)
Brian Bosworth (4)
Chuck Knox (3)
Cortez Kennedy (3)
Dave Krieg (3)
Paul Allen (3)
Walter Jones (3)
Jim Zorn (4 times, but also Jim “Zoran” came up once)
Ken Behring’s name was mentioned twice and both times it was because the person wanted to spit on him
Luke Willson (surprisingly twice)
Mike Macdonald (only twice)
Nick Bellore (2)
Shaun Alexander (2)
Earl Thomas (2)
What would you want to say to or ask your dinner guest? Put it in the comments!
There were also some interesting one-time only answers:
Cliff Avril
Devon Witherspoon
Chris Carson
Efren Herrera
Jack Patera
John Rhattigan
K.J. Wright
Mack Strong
Malik McDowell
“None”
“Rabes”
Ray Roberts
Rufus Porter
Warren Moon
and “Gilden” Tate (that’s how they spelled it)
Dinner with any stranger can be awkward, so hopefully the food is good and interesting enough to create a conversation topic on its own. Any Seattle restaurant ideas or tips that you want to share?
Seaside Joe Reading List
The other day I shared your movie recommendations (including Slow Horses, which I didn’t know at the time is actually a TV show and not a movie) so let’s move onto your book recs…apologies in advance if any of these are not actually books or if I accidentally overlooked your answer.
Although it took me much longer to also add an Amazon link to all of these, I felt like the recommendations could be worthless if you didn’t have easy access to each of them.
Chop Wood, Carry Water (apparently also rec’d by Bobby Wagner)
Command and Control: Nuclear Weapons and the Illusion of Safety
The Thrawn books (Star Wars)
Master and Commander (author Patrick O’Brien rec’d several times over)
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (the novel, the TV series, and the movie)
How to be a Stoic: Using Ancient Philosophy to Live a Modern Life
The Creative Act: A Way of Being (Rick Rubin)
The Power of Now (rec’d twice, but three times if you include me)
Lord of the Rings books
Manon of the Spring trilogy
In the Mouth of Madness (the book)
Lonesome Dove (the book)
Cormac McCarthy’s No Country for Old Men and Blood Meridian
Pow! Right Between the Eyes: Profiting from the Power of Surprise
Take Your Eye Off the Ball: How to Watch Football
Thank you for the recs and I’m glad that’s now over. If you end up reading any of these books based on the rec, please let us know!

Luke Wilson was not my first choice, but one of my choices. If you’ve ever seen him interviewed, he really is an entertaining speaker. He knows how to hold your attention, and he played on two Super Bowl teams and has some opinions about it he’s not afraid to talk about.
As far as restaurants you can sit down and have a good atmosphere to have a conversation. I like the Metropolitan Grill and the Butcher’s Table. (Owned by the same person who owns Beecher’s Cheese) I’ll throw in Shucker’s in the Fairmont if you like seafood. But you can get seafood at the other restaurants as well. The king crab legs appetizer at the Butcher’s Table has melted butter with some chile flakes to give it a little heat.
For those of you who had Doug Baldwin on their list (me). Hawkblogger interviewed him on today’s show. Confirming my belief he’s be a great dinner date. Hawkblogger has some great guests and his program is significantly better when he does interviews. He should prioritize that part of his podcast.
Lots of great book recommendations! Mine didn't make the cut.
