The portal is open again! I've watched/read a lot of science fiction and open portals always come with unforeseen and negative consequences. Stay away Grayson.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing whenever the NFL does something to make a little more money. Being critical of them for just about anything they do is pretty easy and they can handle the flack.

It’s bigger than I am but if we’re talking about money as a problem in the NFL, in my opinion, paying one player $51 million a year, at the same time, potentially paying 6 or 7 guys less than $1 or $2 million to protect him and help make him look good is the much bigger deal.

I know this doesn’t fit the draft next week narrative but it was the first thing that came to my mind when reading your post.

"If we read of one man robbed, or murdered, or killed by accident, or one house burned, or one vessel wrecked, or one steamboat blown up, or one cow run over on the Western Railroad, or one mad dog killed, or one lot of grasshoppers in the winter—we never need read of another.” -Henry David Thoreau.

Sports is entertainment and competes for our attention, and follows the laws of supply and demand. However, when a station creates a schedule to give the days' news, it doesn't matter if there WAS in fact any news of any significance because they are committed to filling a time slot. If there isn't a mass murder, then they will tell you about a single murder, and failing that, they will tell you about a vicious dog that attacked an old woman. If you tune in, you will be entertained. Or you can tune out.

The opposite perspective on that is that we are living history, and what happens will one day be viewed as history. I do find the societal changes we go through to be of historic interest. It is endlessly fascinating. Football is more fun, though, because there are no truly depressing ends.

You never know! 2024 could be like 1970. A young quarterback out of a small college Louisiana Tech went Numero Uno. Terry Bradshaw to Pittsburgh. I will always wonder what would have happened if Chicago would have won the coin flip. McOld McDude.

Kenneth I know you love McCall, but if he really is going to be an NFL quarterback, then he is crazy not to enter the transfer portal. One year of elite play at power school changes every thing. Does Russell Wilson even get drafted if he didn’t play at Wisconsin? How about Joe Burrow. How about Cam Newton? you cannot tell me that there’s not a D1 school, that after spring football isn’t looking at the QB position and saying hey, we have good group here but we need an upgrade at QB if we are going to do anything this fall. If McCall isn’t an upgrade for a D1 school in search of a quarterback, I just don’t see how he makes an NFL roster.

Just curious , Who else has Witherspoon going that high - I haven't seen, read or heard anything like that except here and I sure hope not-Along with Anderson to the Hawks , Personally I just don't see the value for him there, Because he is a LB not a DE and not even really a Leo at his playing weight of 240lbs. - I am really Hoping Carter falls to the Hawks and they pick him and with1-20 go with Tyree Wilson ( if he lasts). That basically fixes the D-line for about five years at least! If Jack Campbell lasts ( he might?) until the Hawks 1st Second rounder take him- Then get what ever Center is left from the top two prospects with the next 2nd round pick. Then a WR , a RB and a CB ( Multiple options for all three). Rest is best player on the board. GO Hawks!!!

The NFL is primarily an entertainment product :o I'm shocked! :o

50/50 on Stetson getting drafted sure, 100% a team will sign him as an UDFA and bring him to Camp.

I'll agree on the Mayo-Man being a ridiculous Top5 pick, but I'll also be very happy when the Colts do take him at #4 (because then we can't draft him!).

And as with all the Trade talk - Texans are shopping (every team is always shopping), but I don't see a team giving them something they really want for #2. I don't see a team meeting the 49ers wants for Lance, he'll be a 49er when Wk1 starts, the best bet is an injury crisis on a team in the early weeks. The most likely trade is the Cardinals, because they just need capital to do a re-build, so even a small offer is beneficial to them, and someone will make a move for Stroud/AR at #3 to get their preferred option before we are on the board at #5. I think also complicating the picture is some teams waiting to see what the Rodgers trade deal is (but that's not happening pre-draft), and also depending what Texans/Cardinals/49ers are asking will be weighed against the two 1sts Lamar would cost (if you're making those trades, it's for a QB, and Lamar is a known quantity and I think another team could quite easily get a deal done with him, and the Ravens would just take the picks at this point - that relationship is beyond saving in a long term sense)
