For the Seahawks 2022 record, I give them a ceiling of 9 wins and a floor of 5 victories. Over/under feels like 7.5. I simply refuse to think they will be slapped around all over the place with big losses.

There will be plenty of close losses because we do not have a QB who can do it on their own like previously. Nevertheless, a strong running game and a competent defense will minimally keep most game close and will certainly create wins.

Yes, we will also create a couple losses from what could have been victories but for the most part, I believe wholeheartedly that the Seattle draft order and the Bronco picks will be pretty close - we will end up just out of the playoffs and Denver will just barely make it but will have an early exit.

There is not a single game on the Seahawks schedule that they don't have at least a 35% chance to win. Pete adores grit, and if the team proves out to have the grit I think they will, everything is in play this season--including the playoffs.

There will be a surprise NFC playoff team, no doubt.

It's immaterial to me how many games the Seahawks win this season. All I want to see is a team that plays hard, doesn't give up, knocks the snot out of the other team and improves throughout the year. I want them to be by the end of the year the team that nobody wants to play.

I think Philly made some good moves in the off-season. I think their line is going to crush, and they think surprise people. Maybe win the East.

Don't know why, but I like KC in the AFC (and I still have AFCW dislike for them).

The Cardinals. Hmmm. they've been young, and if some of those draft picks figure it out, they could be more dangerous than they finish. But that's a thing with them; KK and Murray seem to run out of steam near the end. So I'm not sure it's best to play them early, but without DHop they're less formidable.

Not sure what to do with the Hawks. I have a concern we'll miss Wagner on run stop and suffer in that very important area. As excited as I was for our draft picks, I kept seeing, 'needs to work on the run stop.'

I can find 7 or 8 wins for this team on the schedule. If the defense gels, and the RBs are better than expected, well, I like the Hawks chances in the NFCW battle.

Should be a good season.

Pete isn't saying we're going to win 10 games. He's not really saying that we're going to be good at all. He's just expressing his love for analytics. Statistically, due to the large number of games played (358) and won (235) as both a college and NFL coach, Pete can boast a current win percentage of 0.656. The Seahawks could go winless this year and he would still maintain a .626 winning percentage, which equates to a 10-11 win season. This isn't optimism by Pete, it's just math, and math don't lie.

Note: I spent far less time researching these numbers than I did figuring out how to use them to make the point that I had in mind before researching the numbers.

We know Russ often just didn't like them.

I've seen Geno make them. Not sure if he's inaccurate and that's what you're pointing out.

Seahawks will win around 7 games.

Seahawks will start the season #1 in DVOA just like the Saints last year.

Bills will not win the Super Bowl. Neither the Rams. New Orleans will make the playoffs, Jameis Winston will win comeback player of the year. Tom Brady will show his age at last, and the Seahawks will crush Blaine Gabbert in Germany. The Cardinals will be worse than the Hawks. The whiners just one game better. The Jags will have a decent season.

Okay, so now there's a lot to be wrong!

I’m still stuck on “formidability”. I’d rather he stay positive than the alternative. That press conference last year that he walked out of doesn’t inspire confidence. And if not to inspire, what is he there for??

I think Pete took a long hard look at reality at that time. Although he wasn’t prepared to deal with it at that press conference, ever since then he has been reevaluating and getting back to what he knows: How to coach up young football players.

Your "when does Lock start" disounts the possibility that Carroll may sneakily have him start next Monday night! Surprise!! He could also come in to give the team a lift in the second half if the Seahawks are trailing.

It is amazing the difference an athletic QB who is a threat to run can have on a team. Alexander at Florida; JJ McCarthy at Michigan, McCall too, and dare I say, Lock?

As I have said I am "ride or die" with Pete because he has (in my view) earned it. Sherman's podcast comments the other day about Pete too--he said that Pete somehow finds a way, and I will not be surprised if the Seahawks win on Monday night, and finish with at least 10 wins. Monday night will not be a blowout either way (the 6.5 spread for Denver is going to give Pete and crew ALL KINDS of motivation if they needed any more with Wilson coming to town--no respect!).

Yeah, I am a glass 3/4 full guy, but that's just me.

Agreed. And Q Jefferson coming back might be a sleeper to watch on this team. He's getting to that age and experience level where maybe he can take another step up.

When I watch Broncos tape from last year, Harris is always popping out so expect the line to be a factor for the Hawks.

Carroll is saying what a coach must say. I think some coaches would present it in a more balanced way and I'd prefer that because I like to be leveled with. But no coach is going to say, "We suck this year. Don't get your hopes up; we're rebuilding." I'd prefer something like, "It's of course tough losing someone like Russell Wilson but we made the move that we thought was best for the team, long term. We're going to fight like hell to win every game and work to surprise some folks."

Does Pete cause me to reassess my sense that the Hawks will win 2 to 5 games this year? No. Do Richard Sherman's words give pause? A bit more than Pete's but no. Sherman never supported a move to let a declining veteran go. He's a voice in support of his pals and Pete is among them.

I agree with your assessment, Ken, and with Pete's, that we're all gussing. So I'm not locked in on the Hawks losing 12 to 15 games this year. I hope to be wrong and would be delighted if we did better. I recognize that the draft is a craps shoot and agree that it makes no sense to deliberately tank. That said, if we do really poorly and maximize our chances in the draft, I'm fine with that outcome. I don't expect much in terms of success on the field this year. If we beat the point spread against Denver, I'll be shocked. If we win, I'll gladly eat my hat.

We will know a lot more Tuesday morning. One interesting point. The betting opened a 4. It is now 6.5. The betters don't think very much of our team. First game of the season so there is not too much history but the computer models say it could be close.

Does Pete get any credit for Penny's strong finish last year, or the ram not just mailingit in? Cause that was a strong finish for a team out of playoff contention.

Pete was just being honest. Something he gets railed against by certain deman segments of the fan base.

Career years are not needed from the Hawks to be very successful.

It's not hard to draw up a blueprint at how Pete sees this team being 10+ wins good. And that does NOT include the QB being better than Wilson.

Good times...we hope

You know, Chris, if the like gives him a bit of time...

I know there's a knock against the Jags that it was such a bad team. But look at those throws. If Geno has time, he can make spectacular throws.

Many of them were well covered. The jags were off a bye week, had just beaten the Dolphins and the Bills the next week. They were playing tough. Seattle dismantled them

Pete didn't sway me at all.. its lip service.. he's not going to come out and say they're trash. Nor will he accept the blame when they finish the year complete trash..

Maybe the Qbs will surprise me, but i doubt it. All defenses have to is dare the seahawks to beat them through the air. The RBs are going to see stacked boxes until the qbs start beating them by passing..

Captain check down and turnover king dont inspire fear in anyone..

Oh well.. maybe next year..
