My takeaway is that the defense is really coming together and is showing that they may yet be one of the most dominant defenses is the NFL. The defense has been outstanding since Spoon showed up against the Giants. They cut down on the penalties and, for the most part, totally shut down the Cardinals today. As you documented, Josh Dobbs isn’t Lamar Jackson, but the D showed up even after the demoralizing fumbled snap when the Cards could have jumped back into the game. We’ll see how they perform against the better offenses coming up, but I have been watching this defense gel nicely.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a Seahawk RB have to work harder to get 100 yards than Ken Walker did today. He got bupkes from the OL.

So as I Sea it: Spoon absolutely got robbed of a legit pick and legit sack by penalties. He is a game-wrecker...

For context, I was at the game today and don’t know if they showed this on TV, but on the Bobo TD, which was a great catch, Kenneth walker was WIDE OPEN on the other sideline with no defender within 20 yards. He could have Moon walked into the end zone. Geno never looked to that side of the field.

I’ll always take a W and know they are hard to come by in the NFL (Pats / Bears / Broncos all won today against long odds) but I agree with your perspective. I don’t really look forward to a bunch of articles waxing about how the Seahawks pulled out a tough, gritty win today.

The fact is, we barely managed 20 points against the Cardinals. That’s not good.

Go hawks!

My takeway is that the won an NFL game by 10. They won an NFL game with a rookie center and right guard. A right tackle that may have never started at right tackle prior. A team without their highest paid player on offense.

That is impressive.

And if you were to say that the Cardinals are not a good team, you would be correct. So what does that make the Dallas Cowboys? Because they lost by 10 to those same Cardinals.

The Lions aren't good anymore because they went on the road and got thumped by a good Ravens team? So I guess that means that the Niners aren't very good since they lost to a team with PJ Walker at QB? And the Eagles aren't a good team because they lost to Zach WIlson?

No ... all those teams are good teams still. It is very hard to win week in and week out in the NFL. Every win should be a big deal. And this game was never particularly close.

On offense, Geno has not changed. He is an incredibly accurate QB who has shown tendencies to put the ball in harms way. If you do not like Geno, you will say that he won't change (and probably disregard how accurate he is). And if you like Geno, you will say that if he can just clean up a couple things he will be an incredible QB but is still a good QB even with the mistakes. Lot of upside potential.

No one knows if he can clean up his play yet, which is why the contract is structured the way it is. I am still in on Geno. And lets not forget the cluster injuries on offense to the line. Incredible for the Hawks to be winning these games.

The defense is the big story this year for me. After getting throttled in Detroit, the defense really looks to be gelling along with the emergence of a potential star (spoon) and reemergence of older familiar faces playing well (bobby, Jamal, Brooks, Reed etc.).

The real exciting part is that this is how Pete wants his teams to look. Tough, defensive minded teams that run the football and help their QBs job out.

Couldn't be more excited about this team and the sky is the limit.

Go Hawks.

Our D is trending from good to very good and may be elite by the end of the season. That is in the good column. Our secondary is great, the run D took a step back today but is light years better than last year. Standing their ground after a turnover is great to see, and 10 points surrendered in the NFL (average) over 3 games is fabulous and looks sustainable.

On the other hand... Geno is the "limiter" on the offense. The first play from scrimmage was a pass to K9 where Geno stared at him, then threw high, leaving K9 with no space to advance. There were good plays, including finding Parkinson up the sideline when I am sure he was not the primary target. Bobo's circus catch makes Geno's numbers look much better than they would otherwise be, and we cannot overlook what happened in the red zone today in the second half. Geno as QB will keep the Seahawks from achieving the success they might otherwise experience, and I really wonder how long Pete will forgive the turnovers and lack of RZ success.

Look at Geno’s numbers from the 2nd half of last season to now. I did and it’s not pretty. He should have had an early pick by staring down a receiver ( which he does all the time ) and he makes too many mistakes. It’s clear PC has him playing to not screw up as much as possible. A lot of people will blame it on the OC but he can only work with what he has.

This is a good defense. Given a new QB next year we should be a contender

I will say this of Ken Walker: He earns every yard he gets, with little help in the way of holes to run through. Yet, I wouldn't say he won the game for us, that distinction belongs to the defense.

I don't worry over much about our schedule, though it is tough, so long as we get our OL healthy. When we max protected, Geno threw strikes. Like most NFL QB's, Geno falls apart when he is under duress.

Geno is not great, but he has done enough most of the time, and is better than about half the other starters in the league. I'd like to see Drew Lock brought in for a wildcat play or two in the red zone. Get him some reps, and make him more comfortable. See how it goes.

A mostly negative write up after a win...unfortunately I agree with all of it. I was in the Geno camp to start the season but now I see that he is not the long term/$40 million man. Not saying he should be benched, but PCJS must identify the next QB and start the succession plan.

The offense has been progressively better since the Giants game. Geno put a positive EPA/play game at last, even with the two egregious mistakes. It was very similar to the Bengals game, with Geno having stellar 12 CPOE on a 9.4 aDOT (same numbers he had against Cincy), the difference was the mistakes had smaller impact.

I'm cautiously optimistic. We greatly improved on 3rd downs, hitting more than 50% of them. Still a lot to get better, but good to be moving in the right direction.

Sitting next to Geno, Waldron looked exasperated. No more promises to do better or improve will cut it anymore. Week 8 is close enough to the middle of the season to justify a change in strategies. I have little doubt the films are pointing this out now. Maybe this has been intended all along. My bet is it will jolt the offense awake. And how great is it our Defense refused to let the officials into their heads, even after Spoon was denied his sack and interception? Now that's a sign of a Super Bowl caliber team, even if it is but half of it. Still in its' infancy, I expect we shall see them begin to put actual points up as they mature. Now tell me true: do you really see DK making that catch and toe-dance as we saw with Bobo? No. And No.

With the weapons that we have on offense, between the WR/RB/TE rooms, there is no excuse for the offense to be this bad. As I see it, the blame fits on (1) Geno (2) Waldron (3) the OL or (4) some combination of the three. Maybe all three. Need to get that straightened out if we want to contend for a playoff spot.

It's a forgone matter that we know that Geno will never get us to the promised land. He chokes under pressure, can't work through his progressions, and telegraphs his passes. Enough already.

That problem is solved by adding a single good player, probably in next year's draft.

The scarier sequence I saw today was not being able to gain one yard on 1st and goal.

What is it going to take to fix THAT problem? A new O-line? A new line coach? A new O.C.?

More than a single good player for sure. I found myself wishing that we'd signed DJ Fluker last week just so that I could see a single lineman going forward.

I don't think I will be able to stomach going 2-6 or 1-7 over the next 8 games.

Thought the defense played very well except for one starter: Riq Woolen. Can’t remember the last good play he made, but he’s been beaten easily multiple times and that “tackle” on the Dobbs TD deserves a benching. Leave Tre out there, bring back Jackson on the right, or Spoon, but Woolen is going to get picked on pretty soon and he’s not even a ghost of last year’s Riq.

Mafe and JR and Brooks KILLED it today, and so did the rest of the difference. And Spoon is so frikkin’ good and he’s just a rookie. OMG!

And Geno showed once more he’s a top 20 QB between the 20’s, who is going to get us obliterated in the playoffs. Gorgeous passes including that dime to Bobo, yet so damn frustrating to see him take stupid sacks, throw stupid int’s and not have the confidence or awareness to audible. Unfortunately he’s Seattle’s ceiling.

The common factor here is Geno. We are f$#&d as long as P and S , and many fans, believe geno is a starter in the NFL. he is not. The INT one the 1 yrd line is not excusable in any sense of the word. If we make a wildcard spot, it will be AMAZING

On offense, the simple truth is that until the o-line returns to something resembling full health, the unit is going to underachieve running and passing the ball. And scoring from the 1 yard line. On defense, I'm developing a man-crush on Witherspoon. That kid is so smart, and so f-ing tough it's unbelievable. That he sees the game so clearly as a rookie is unbelievable. That hit today, just wow. The defense overall looks promising. Worried about Chenna's injury......hopefully it's short term. Jamal Adams is playing better than I've ever seen him as a Seahawk. I think they finally found a way to use his strengths.
