The D is truly playing better- BUT they need to run some Tackling drills, Come On! DW is playing Great at The Nickel, hope that they keep using him there and on the fly as they are . Tre is doing very well at the LCB spot and I am assuming Tariq is just getting healthy, so I expect better play down the road. The O-line at some point will be healthy again, and with playing time together, they will come together. That is one position that actually needs playing time, maybe more than any other! In My view Geno actually had a worse game, at least mentally than the Cincy game (there it was more the O-line). They can play Much better than they did, if they Just clean up a few things(few) - AND Please let's get some better play calls inside the Five yard line !!!

I found myself yelling at the tv after Geno’s interception and actually feeling worse in some ways after his performance in this win than after last week’s loss.

Then I open up ESPN’s season stats and find Geno is the #10 QB by qbr. Do all QBs just suck this year? How do the Hawks reliably find an improvement? As of today Purdy, mister irrelevant, is the number 1 QB, and Bryce Young, #1 overall pick is 32nd.

I wish the Hawks could wave a magic wand to get the perfect QB, but I suspect we’ll see plenty more Geno because there aren’t any obvious, available upgrades.

I’d still like them to put Lock in for an occasional series as a change of pace. If he excels, great. If not, we’d know he’s not the answer. I’m pretty sure Deejay Dallas took a snap then handed off to Walker on a play. Why not give that to Lock? New Orleans used Taysom Hill as a spot player against us last year and he killed us.

We know scoring is down across the league.

But that is the first question I ask anyone who says "Geno isn't good enough" or worse: Who do you want instead of Geno? (has to be playing today) Available or not. Sure, I want Mahomes and Allen also. But if not them then who?

If the answer is a wash that tells you all you need to know about Geno. He is good enough because he is a top 2 tier NFL QB.

Rewatched the offensive game and it was ok. I think the points will come. Overall, the line played pretty well but you can see some missed assignments by the rookies especially on some run plays. That's to be expected and you hope those guys watch the tape and get better. Alot is put on Olu's plate and for the most part did great.

The interception is an interesting play. The first mistake was from Bobo (as Pete said) who didn't turn up field and would've likely had an easy TD as you can see Geno loading to throw. The second mistake, imo, is why is Cross not helping to block with Fant? If he does Geno can throw the ball away safely. The third and most talked about is Geno deciding to throw the ball but unfortunately the defender gets there in time and hits his arm and/or ball causing the Int. Three mistakes on the play but at the end of the day, just take a sack and kick a FG.

I continue to be baffled by Walker in short yardage situations. Great game overall but how he can't punch it in on the 1st and goal play is wild to me. I think Charbs scores there everytime.

Remember when we could close out Detroit with our 5-minute offense? Well, it was nice to see a much better drive from Geno and the offense. They were able to chew up the clock and force AZ to use their timeouts. That is so much better than the Detroit game, great to see progress. However, K9 with a bad run out of bounds and also another drop by JSN at the first down sticks otherwise the game is already over, and we don't have to sweat out a Meyers FG.

I haven't seen it yet from JSN. I wonder if the wrist injury is still bothering him. I hope so, because from what people say to what I see is not the same.

Bobo, however, is the real deal. Very lucky to have that guy on our team.

Last thought, much of the NFL is about injuries. Is our defense playing this well due to (knock on wood) being healthy? And is much of the offense lackluster recent play due to lack of health? The simple answer maybe the right answer.

Onward. Go hawks.

Tyler Lockett in the 4th (9:40 left), it's a completion on 3rd and 12, not sure why the refs and the announcers missed it.

It might seem like an overreaction in the wake of a two-score win but my takeaway is *insert realphwiggumimindanger.jpeg*

Good teams dominate bad teams and the Cardinals are undoubtedly a Bad Team. What I witnessed last night was distinctly not domination. You're right to repeatedly highlight that stretch of games with the Ravens, 9ers, Cowboys and Eagles because those are the best teams we will face this year, with all due respect to the Bengals (who have something of a track record of early-season malaise).

The weirdest thing of all is that we could lose all those games, still make the playoffs and somehow even win a playoff game! Going 6-5 down the stretch would put us at 10-7 with a shot at a game against the Lions or NFC South winners in January. Those are winnable games! Even a wildcard loss should be seen as breaking even given the youth and early-season injuries. Is that level of team success enough to keep Geno around? What if he hits a hot-streak through December that carries over into the playoffs?

Those are best-case scenarios in my opinion, and the reality is that Geno is good enough (and has enough talent around him) to drop 30 points on pretty much anyone but, for whatever reason, he has shown that he is too inconsistent play-to-play/drive-to-drive to actually execute to that potential.

The warning signs are clearer after this win than I thought:

THE GIANTS SCORED MORE POINTS AGAINST THE CARDS THAN WE DID!

WE FAILED TO SCORE A SECOND HALF TD IN 50% OF OUR GAMES!

*chuckles* we're in danger.

We won....hurray ...Defense are coming together clean up a few things and WILL dominate (kinda already are) With that said I have never been more depressed with a win ..Any OB in the league will look great with a clean pocket it's when it breaks down you need a CLEAN decision and that is not happening . Would we be that much worse with Lock throwing a couple interceptions (we have a budding defense) Would he have scored from a half yard out ,I think so .....Lets take a look for no other reason then to light a fire under Geno's ass and see what we have .

Ballet lessons are good for receivers so long as they don't wear the tutus in games. NoE and Bobo are definitely toe dancers.

I love this defense. In my opinion, Witherspoon has changed the tone completely. The whole defense appears to be playing faster and with more aggression. By the last third of the season, this D will lock down anyone.

So did anyone who watched the game, at any time think the offense was really missing DK? I didn’t and I was a bit surprised by that.

On offense, the simple truth is that until the o-line returns to something resembling full health, the unit is going to underachieve running and passing the ball. And scoring from the 1 yard line. On defense, I'm developing a man-crush on Witherspoon. That kid is so smart, and so f-ing tough it's unbelievable. That he sees the game so clearly as a rookie is unbelievable. That hit today, just wow. The defense overall looks promising. Worried about Chenna's injury......hopefully it's short term. Jamal Adams is playing better than I've ever seen him as a Seahawk. I think they finally found a way to use his strengths.

Takeaway of the day:

Devon Witherspoon truly is a playmaker and game changer... I am a bit sad for him getting a Sack and Int wiped out but man what a hit to remember. We'll truly have a lot of fun with him in the years to come.

We have a nemesis, and his name is Waldron! That 1st and Goal from the 1 is just prime example of Waldron being either inept or our secret traitorous nemesis - I'm going with the later because it's less worrying.

Thank heavens he has started to let JSN go downfield on plays and be an actual WR. But still he seems incapable to use the offence at his disposal.

Geno was good in stretches, bad in stretches. Overall it balances out to 'enough for the win' from him. Fine keep it going.

But I have my torch and pitchfork ready to run the obviously traitor and secret 49er insideman Waldron out of town at a moment's notice.

Geno is nearly the best and nearly the worst and it’s impossible to say which on a play by play basis. All NFL players talk about consistency. With Geno you see why they do; it makes the difference between an offense that’s on track or off the rails, that gets traction or has the wheels coming off. He’s a very sane guy and he drives us crazy

Watched recording for the first half without knowing who won. At the half asked my wife to look up who won, cuz I just couldn't continue watching Hawks' crappy play if they were going to lose. The Cardinals just out and out sucked. Played heroically, but sucked. We should have beaten them 40-0. On that Cardinal QB TD run, our defense looked like they were on drugs. Yeah, they tightened up in the second half, I'll throw them that bone. But come on, the Cardinals should have been crushed. Hats off to Bobo, JSN, Lockett, Fant, Walker. But Geno. Come on, Geno. Stop telegraphing where you're gonna throw. And I don't care how third string your O-Line is, you get that ball across the goal line from the one. NO ALIBIS. (Sure, I know, easy for me to say, but I was in a very good mood before I watched the game, and by the end of the half it was all gone.)

The protection was actually decent. Run-blocking was the issue with the OL.

It's a forgone matter that we know that Geno will never get us to the promised land. He chokes under pressure, can't work through his progressions, and telegraphs his passes. Enough already.

That problem is solved by adding a single good player, probably in next year's draft.

The scarier sequence I saw today was not being able to gain one yard on 1st and goal.

What is it going to take to fix THAT problem? A new O-line? A new line coach? A new O.C.?

More than a single good player for sure. I found myself wishing that we'd signed DJ Fluker last week just so that I could see a single lineman going forward.

I don't think I will be able to stomach going 2-6 or 1-7 over the next 8 games.

The issue yesterday was OL depth: Forsythe, Bradford, and Oluwatimi all had to play because Haynes and Brown were inactive. Cross was the only starter playing. Still, not being able to punch the ball in from the one-foot line…

Daryl Taylor got a sack, but was otherwise a total liability. He is incapable of setting the edge. He whiffs on zone reads and keeps trying to arm tackle guys even though it rarely works. I had a lot of optimism for him, but it’s all run out. We need Chenna back. Overall I feel like the defense is trending upward, though.

I can’t say I feel the same about the offense. I don’t want to pile on Geno and a win is a win but the thing I said about optimism applies. I also wonder about Waldron’s role in this electric collection of skill players being so bland and unproductive.

Yesterday at least, Taylor had a good second half in place of Nwosu. He made a terrific play to keep Dobbs from running for a first on 3rd-and-2 and turned in the only run to his side. Plus, he had the late-game sack.

Agree with Ken. We are no better than a squeak into the playoffs and get bounced in the first game, if Geno gets better along with the Oline, but I’ve seen Geno long enough to see a non SB winning QB, and we need a more dynamic guy to advance in the playoffs. I love Geno as a person, but he is not good enough to compete for a SB. Underperforming in almost every game this year. Never feel like the Hawks are gonna win the game anymore. How we gonna block Myles Garrett? We should’ve beat this team by at least 20

My SB bar is Matt Hasselbeck, which is not a low bar. Geno is not close to that good.
