Agreed. What kind of message would it send to the other players if you play great, help the team win a Super Bowl at the hardest position in sports, then you get traded away? I’d find that demotivating, personally.
For me, it's between him and Leonard Williams for DPOY so far, and arguably it's Love. Because he's leading a secondary that's down two starters (Okada and Emmanwori) and making them look like the 2nd coming of the Legion of Boom (he himself being the Boom on more than one occasion).
THAT's a big loss if he does miss this game. Do we know how serious it is, could it be multi-game?

I would love to see Darnold come in somewhere around $45M-$50M. That is a ton of money. Highest paid player on the team but still shows the team that we are a defensive run first team.

In my (admittedly small) mind, you'd give $55-60M for a QB that could win you games pretty much on his own. 35-31 type games. 4500+ yards/year. Multiple games pulled out of the hat in the 4th quarter. Defense just needs to force a few punts and you win. For that guy, sure, show him the big money.
But for this team? We don't need someone to do that. Run the offense, protect the football, get the ball to JSN, and hand the ball off more than you throw it. $45-50M for that? Sure, if their TD/INT ratio is solid. Would Darnold sign for that? No idea. Would he take $10M less and keep Seattle, or take the $10M extra and go play somewhere else. I think he'd WANT to stay in Seattle.....but what's the worth to him? That'd be the question. If he's a 2 time SB winning QB, he'd have the resume for $60M. But would JS go there?

I am also a staunch, I will die on this hill supporter of Lock. Just think he is a great teammate, has the skills, and has grown as an NFL player.
Why are running backs considered a product of the O Line but QBs are considered super hero’s?
