Most of you in the comments have a lot more faith in this team as currently constructed than I. But I admire the optimism! I'm just hoping for a good foundation for the 2023 season. Lots of picks and cap space to better the team is just around the corner. Really hoping for some good surprises from this year's rookie class; that would go a long way.

Agree. I’m less concerned with the record than I am with improvement and figuring who can contribute to a team with SB aspirations.

I find it highly likely we find ourselves around .500 at the end of October. Plenty of winnable games against teams with as many questions as us. Even the Broncos game is winnable. Russ will either light us up like a Christmas tree or suffer a day of frustration that makes him, and the Broncos, wonder why he wanted to leave such a great place. Toughest game after that is the Chargers and I fully expect them to take it to us with their defense. Herbert is on track to be an All-Pro even in a QB dominated AFC.

Both teams deserve a chance with the ball. Sudden death in hockey or baseball etc. is much different. One thing for sure other than the ending, it's one or possibly the best game I have ever watched

I hate that any team could get two straight possessions because of a coin toss. My preference is that they play until someone scores—although it can’t be indefinite in the regular season. I.e., no coin toss, no start from scatch. Won’t happen because the NFL loves the contrived drama of starting over.

OK, my turn to show how much I don't know. Beat the Broncos, Saints, and Giants for a 3-5 record.

@Detroit: A couple of weeks ago, I had this as the Hawks best chance for a road win. Then I was exposed to the Lions hype. It’s probably overdone, but also probably not overdone enough. 0-1/1-3

@New Orleans: Maybe things could break right. The Saints *did* lose at home last year to Atlanta, the New York Giants, and Miami. This could be an opportunity to surprise a team that appears to let its foot off the pedal at home against weaker clubs. 1-1/2-3

Arizona: It doesn’t matter that Hopkins won’t be playing or that Murray is at odds with the front office. The Hawks have laid so many eggs against this team that Lumen Field could be mistaken for a henhouse when Arizona is in town. Plus, the Cards are fast starters. 1-2/2-4

@Los Angeles Chargers. Next. 1-3/2-5

New York Giants: The Gints pass rush will tell us a lot about how much Cross and Lucas have developed. Even so, if they can’t beat the Giants at home… 2-3/3-5

Yes, Giants had a really good defense last season!

I like us going 4-1 in October. I think the Chargers will hand us our 1st loss of the season.

Kenneth; not that I would expect bias, but knowing your love for McCall, could you do an honest assessment of who you see as QBs 1-10? I know there's a whole college season to go, but I'm not anticipating the Hawks to pick real early, so I'm trying to get a read on who might go where. There are a lot of names being thrown around.

For what it's worth, Grayson McCall could be a third round pick and that wouldn't bother me at all. If the Seahawks got McCall in the third round, that would be amazing. I don't really care that much about draft order, I just sort of analyze where players will go in the draft and I leave predictions of their future out of it. I happen to think that if McCall is a third round pick in the NFL, that he will outplay that. But frankly, I don't sweat any of that jazz about "well, the Seahawks NEED the first overall pick" or "the Seahawks better pick the QB that I like and not the QB that I dislike".

Life is too short, football is too unpredictable, I think the Seahawks should just go try to win as many games as possible this year, then go pick whatever QB they like best at whatever draft position he should be available.

I'll be posting plenty of top-10 QB articles for sure, in due time.

I get your point. I was just looking to see if your take on the top QBs in next year's draft was close to what others are saying, i.e. is Bryce Young a 1st rounder? Better than Stroud? Since this year's draft was so weak for QBs, are next year's QBs superior or another crop of wannabes.

Nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills. I haven't looked at any odds, but if I was making book the Bills would he the favorites.

When the Diggs trade was made I first thought Buffalo were paying a high price. In one off season that has completely changed. There are now a dozen receivers that fit into the $23 to $25 million a season, which will include our man DK . Diggs would be in that group but his deal is is in place for a few more seasons.

Buffalo lost in heart breaking fashion to the Chiefs in last years playoffs. Thirteen seconds should be enough to put a world record size chip on their shoulders. The Bills also have a great head coach and a good staff. Lastly I feel Josh Allen is the best Quarterback in the league. This is my subjective opinion, and there is only a wafer thin edge between him and Mahomes. The separation comes in Allen's ability to run the ball. At times, he looks like the biggest kid in the school yard, running over and around all comers during recess. The way he makes four or five yards almost at will. Lamar is the most talented runner in the league at any position, but his throwing is a little behind Allen. The Bill's defense will be improved from last year, and they have done a great job at filling all three levels, with more than just competent players. Thanks for asking Kenneth, I would think I am not alone in my assessment. Victoria Chris

The Bills look great, can't believe they haven't reached an AFC Championship yet with McDermott and Allen. Now is the year maybe, but the competition is STIFF.

That loss illuminated exactly what is wrong with the way the NFL approaches OT. The way to handle OT is to keep on playing. Other stuff is tinkering around the edges.

"This game could determine a little bit of position, meaning that whoever loses, they may end up coming out ahead by next year." Play hard, show some grit 'n exciting plays, then lose 'n draft well.

yes, set those expectations LOW. Don't expect anything and you'll never be disappointed.

I think we can beat the Saints as long as we don't sleep on Winston. Winston had impressive numbers before his injury. Sean Payton did a very nice job coaching him up, while he sat in his first season with New Orleans.

I too am purposely keeping my expectations low for the Hawks. We are not the dregs of the league that many national pundits would have you believe. I have been a fan since 1976, so I know that when the season starts I will be rooting hard. No matter how much I tamp down my enthusiasm as soon as the whistle blows I will be thinking of every scenario which might bring victory. You have to admit Russell Wilson was special when the game was on the line. I expected him to find a way.

"I think the Chargers are the best team in the AFC West". Considering KC and LA are a hair's breath apart in talent, that is a hot take I'll have to disagree with. KC had a great draft with guys who are going to help immediately. They'll be in their second year with a new offensive line and they added and underrated Ronald Jones to the backfield. Losing Tyreek Hill is a blow but I think they've actually upgraded their receiving corps. Smith-Schuester is a bulldog and Skyy Moore will make Hill's splash plays. Valdes-Scantling and Justyn Ross could both be sleeper stars. Herbert is a coming star but you'll have to prove to me that he's as good as Mahomes. I still see KC going to the Super Bowl.
