Schneider is getting lambasted for the safety budget, but I’ll bet that every team has at least one position that seems out of whack.
Personally, I think that they should have moved on from Diggs—no safety over 28 has made the PB in years, and he’s 29. On the other hand, it’s hard to be critical of a team for paying its most proven defensive playmaker. If Hurtt and Desai can get Adams in a scheme that plays to his talents, his salary position salary will be irrelevant because they’ll be paying him to be a disruptor, not a strong safety.
I share your concerns about Diggs. However you have to pay him for lockerroom reasons given how he went down on the last game of the season during contract year. Also, I think his intelligence and experience at that position is very important in holding a young defensive backfield and defense together.
I think Adams is done. Back to back injury on the same shoulder. Bad karma for us getting chancellor and Sherman in 5th rounds. The football god punished us. We paid our dues. It’s time turn the page and forget about it.
I don’t think that those writers will ever learn ——- they diss us for our philosophy, for our draft choices, etc. They then after being proven wrong, having “egg on their face” will still return to the scene of the crime. You need this QB. You need this free agent etc. WEARYSOME !!!!!!!!
I do think there's a lot of anti-Pete rhetoric that is not very well-reasoned. Most of the teams that make it to the playoffs and beyond each year follow a similar path of mixing run and pass. It does seem that a young coach doing the same would be considered a genius. Pete just wants to win, and doesn't really care how he gets there, he just knows that the run opens up the pass. Not many 70+ guys that are as willing to try new things as he is.
