* Defensive MVP: Uchenna Nwosu. Again, not a close call,
* “…face for causing me grief during the 2023 season is…” None of the above. My adult son joined me every Sunday to cheer on the Hawks. In comparison, any grief is caused by the Hawks is split-second and illusory. In the end, it’s just a game.
The defense was definitely better with Uchenna on the field. the run D was better and the pass rush from other players (Reed and Mafe, specifically) was better. His absence was not talked about much, but I think you are right about the kind of negative impact it had on the overall defense.
I voted for DK, too. If Geno gets credit for clutch performances on some of those 4th quarter comeback drives this year, it's largely because DK saved his ass a few times. He does have his pie-in-the-face moments for sure, though.
Does the offense OR defense really have an "MVP"? On D I would have said Mafe as an option if he had been listed because I think his year over year jump was great. On offense I was tempted to say Walker but ?? It might be Myers which when you think about it is almost as pathetic as having your punter be a weapon (even though Dickson clearly is). It doesn't exactly strike fear in your opponent when you have a really good FG kicker and punter.
About Carroll: I love the guy but I hope he decides to move on (vs being fired) and after the NC win I think Harbaugh will be available. You want better tackling? You want a better D? You want a really balanced offense? Harbaugh would get it done. I think if Pete does stay that means Geno will stay and that won't be good going forward.
I lied sometimes in that survey. I don't want to pie anyone in the face. I think firing Hurt would be a super painful experience. Especially after just two years. There is no doubt a lot of blame belongs on Pete, and while I never said I would fire Pete in your survey, I'd consider someone better than Pete if that someone is out there. I sure hope Jody is doing her due diligence.
The Defense has had problems with unbalanced time of possession for as long as I remember going back to even Marshawn days. Because Marshawn had better and more frequent holes to run through, but by no means did he have lots of holes to run through, and those holes sort of dried up entirely in the red zone as they have for over a decade.
Time of possession was brought up on FG's today, so that's part of it, but this discussion has gone on for decades, and it never gets fixed and that is more on Pete than I want to admit. I hate to say it, but I'm almost ready to trade Harbaugh for Pete, and I hate Harbaugh, and he may have actually been involved in the cheating so I just talked myself out of Harbaugh. I cannot stand cheaters.
An effective DC is on the sidelines, up in faces, generating the passion and fury it takes to dominate. Others can call in the adjustments to him to disseminate. This is not something older huge men can do, as their heart will not take it. Seattle's mistake is everybody wants to coach like Carroll.
In Seattle’s case, it’s hard to tell whether the offense or defense bears the most responsibility for TOP. My sense is that TOP rises and falls with offensive and defensive 3rd-down success rates, but I don’t know this for a fact.
I wanted to make sure I put myself on the pie list not to be self deprecating, but because I didn’t think it was fair for me to say that they could be pied unless I was just as willing to be pied.
I can’t support Harbaugh after seeing his ugly behavior last night. Poor sports are bad enough but poor winners are Cam Newton ugly! That personality wouldn’t fit the Allen family or Seattle at all.
I hope Pete is doing what a great leader does and is scouting for his perfect successor! He should be mentoring his replacement at this stage of his career and making sure he leaves the team (and the 12s) in the best hands.
Not to rub apparently 50% of Seahawk fans the wrong way but out of curiosity. I logged on madden. Updated everything and got 2 1st round trade offers for Geno. We always talk release but what about trading Geno. Are the Seahawks and Carroll honest when they say they have 2 #1s. Resign Lock, pick up sone draft picks and salary relief and trade Geno and draft a qbotf? Not sure we could trade Diggs? I think definitely a market for Geno. In my as a fan perfect world. Adam's, Diggs, Geno, Mone, Dissly and Wagner (forever love). Are all gone with lots of freedom up cap space. Anyway just an idea article I'd love to see if you somehow if ever run out lol. Have a great day.
If wish it was as easy as Madden. Dumped off Locket to the Cowboys for a 1st and Lamb - it's Madden, it's fantasy simulation.
Now with NoE there is a potential market to trade him. There are teams needing a dependable WR. But a 1st is a stretch, maybe a package of day 2 & 3 picks. I'd entertain calls at the least.
Geno's market is small. Most 33+yo QB trades are for established Top10 Vets. Geno is not in that category, not so I see a team that desperate this season. It's a good QB draft that'll be used by 8+ teams. There are young 'busts' you can get for cheap and try to reclaim. Would someone trade a 1st for Tannehill? No, and I put Geno in a similar value category. Try to renegotiate his deal down back to 20mil with incentives and if he says no boot him out the door. (Although I expect we'll just keep him in the current deal)
Yeah perhaps. I have a hard time picturing Pete Carroll trading Geno Smith this year. I think you just bet on what history suggests and that Pete’s not going to change who he is and I think he doesn’t think of Geno as anything but a net positive. Fans could disagree but I have not gotten the feeling that Pete will replace Geno prior to camp. But maybe if the Seahawks draft a QB, he ends up winning over the team in camp. We’ve seen it before.
Waldron excelled with Stafford's tremendous command of many plays and a demanding Head Coach. Geno and Drew will be kept to educate a young QB protégé. I expect an entire focus on a deep offensive line in the Draft. PS/JS will find us a great pick at QB later in the rounds and we will have that guy who can bring the many weapons we have to bear amid the chaos following the first punch.
Which team might trade a first for Geno? The Jets? The Giants? Chicago maybe if they traded Fields first and were going to take a QB first overall in the draft? But there are a lot of FA options that are "about as good" as Geno and I am not sure there is going to be a market for him that would net a 1st round pick coming back.
To get a top 15 QB with a technically low salary. What would people offer for Cousins? We moved up from a 3rd to as 2nd for Williams for for the Salary considerations. It makes a BIG deal with the salary cap.
I would like to click four or five choices on the last question. I chose PC, but he really didn't deserve it.
Pete fired...or moved to a consultant. WOW!
* Offensive MVP: DK Metcalf. Not a close call.
* Defensive MVP: Uchenna Nwosu. Again, not a close call,

DK was the best player on the offense this season, and that's with all due respect to Walker who at times seemed to get every yard gained on his own.
Good survey, fun to complete.

Pete has earned my respect. He will leave when he knows it is best.
“If you don’t expect Seattle’s offensive line to suffer injuries next season, then you should expect to be disappointed.”
Exactly! The contingency plan cannot be: let’s give Jason Peters a call.
Keep drafting lineman. Rob Staton believes this is a strong o-line draft. Have to take advantage of it!
Exactly. The context is “an inordinate number of injuries to a line that has zero depth.”

It made me chuckle. It was not unexpected because you are fair and willing to take a pie to the face 🤣

Hey Ken.

Well now that Schneider is in charge my trade Geno odds just jumped dramatically.
Wow. I see Pete was just fired...

Ok, maybe Denver lol.
No doubt there are teams that would sign Geno. But give up meaningful draft capital? Good luck with that one.

There isn’t a GM in the NFL who wouldn’t swap Geno Smith for Kirk Cousins in a heartbeat.
I’d be in favor of trading Geno for sure!
