As has been pointed out many times in the last 12 months, Poona Ford remarkably had the highest cap hit of any player on the Seattle Seahawks in 2022. Technically, Russell Wilson’s dead cap hit of $26 million was by far the largest, but Poona’s $10.075 million hit led all players on the roster, followed by Tyler Lockett at $10.05 million.

Following the signing of Dre’Mont Jones on Monday, the Seahawks could have at least seven players next season who make more than Ford’s cap hit in 2022. To help make room for Jones, and just because it was necessary anyway, Seattle released Quinton Jefferson on Tuesday to save roughly $4.5 million against the cap.

Jones' cap number this season is a little over $10M, which is pretty manageable. His signing bonus was $20M, which is a significant chunk of money. Remember, teams operate under cash budgets as well as the salary cap.

Let’s go over the seven names, how their cap hits could change, and whether Seattle has room for any more above $10 million or getting close to it.
