If I'm interpreting OvertheCap.com correctly, Curhan is a FA after this season and Stone only has one year remaining. Neither guy is playing like someone I don't want to try and replace through the draft on a rookie contract. The question isn't if we should, but how high of a pick we should use. I don't believe there is a correct answer to this question.
A good OLine makes your passing & running games better. Drafting well there pays off right across your team in a big way. Now for the but...
We shouldn't be looking at 1st Rd Tackles in 2024. It's looking like a good year for Tackles especially so around 20 where we should end up there will be a usable Tackle to take. However we'd be better taking a Top3 DL/LB/WR/TE/basically anything else vs the 6th Tackle. We'd be even better finding a trade partner and sliding a few places, let them take the 6th Tackle and we'll stick to the 2nd DL plus more ammo.
My OLine draft hope is similar to what we did this year. Day 3 find a couple more depth pieces. Another C/G in the vein of Brown & Olu, and a depth T option. If, as many fans and Pete claim, this team is genuinely close, don't waste that 1st double dipping at Tackle. Use it to bolster a weaker area we need more starting help on (Leonard Taylor is already getting me excited, if he lasts to the mid-round area). I am starting to watch some OLine guys more closely (Sedrick Van Pran, Christian Haynes, Troy Fantanu, Zion Nelson, Joshua Gray feeling good so far) and fingers crossed it can again fall nicely for us.
I had high hopes Haynes would be a top OG. Just hasn’t panned out. And you backups are important. Gone are the days that OLine guys play every snap of every season. My seat mate has mentioned and makes sense, that the last CBA deal and reduced practice hits hasn’t helped in the injury front.
The thing is, when Haynes plays, he always plays well. Objective measurements (PBWR and RBWR) have him highly rated. But he usually misses a lot of time.
Or draft them in the sixth round and coach them up. Just kidding. It's weird, but even John Schneider has spoken about how few OL, in general, are available. Forcing teams to make due when injuries strike. Teams do hit on late round gems, though. Still, we have weathered this storm pretty well with our backups. If we get Lewis back, and give Curhan some help I think we'll be OK.
Take a tackle with our only first round pick? That's rational if we don't have our eye on a QB, and I think we will have our eye on a QB. And maybe we'll take two QB's. For me, that is the lesson of Purdy.
Take a tackle for sure if there’s a 1st rd option at 23 (my guess). Not only for injury protection but bc of what they’re worth if you find a good one.
Plus Seattle has the good fortune of drafting BPA now so take BPA among the premium positions. QB Tackle Corner WR.
Yeah, you look at the Giants and the draft capital they have invested in the OL with poor results, and you think either JSPC *really* know what to look for when they draft or they have gotten really lucky with their picks. Or maybe it is just Malcom McDowell luck evening out.
Fair amount of evening out to do there...although there are sprinklings of Locketts and Metcalfs and Brooks and Damiens and Jarrans and Franks in there too.
Just super glad his percentages are higher last few drafts...hoping the magic is back!
Man this guy makes it real obvious he's not excited to watch our offense but this game more or less proves he was justified.. haven't made it to the later parts of the video when our offense starts consistently falling but good suggestion and real interesting so far.
I am definitely 'old enough' and ready! So many things I want to do more of: cook, play my fiddle/guitar/etc, write... just have to get everything arranged first. By May 31 next year though...

Yeah, definitely depends on how the board falls and we won't know until we know. Putting some early feelings out there.

Will another mistake ever happen in the future at Seaside Joe? No. That is impossible. Seaside Joe has greater accuracy that ChatGPT…
I chuckled at this passage since there's a typo in the next to last word (and typo = mistake) :p
It was on purpose! (It was not on purpose)

It was definitely Ben Baldwin. #BlameBenBaldwin
I am looking forward to watching the video when I get home... this working thing is REALLY getting in the way!
I’m loving retirement. For one thing, I have time to watch videos. The main drawback is being old enough to retire.

Fingers crossed that end of May is a hard date for your retirement. It’s been great to not have work get in the way of good fun!
Yep. End of May.... or sooner!! :D
