Seahawks: 2024 Salary Cap, Free Agents, Extension Candidates, Budget
Seattle seems destined to make more free agent/trade splashes in the near future based on their financial opportunities
Universal Studios reportedly spent $340 million on the new Fast and Furious movie that’s coming out next week, but I’m not optimistic that audiences will walk out of the theater with the ability to confidently answer the question…”Why?” For example, there are 14 faces on this movie poster:
Why?
I would argue that’s at least 13 too many faces. Imagine any NFL team creating a poster for their 2023 season and not even the Kansas City Chiefs could justify the photo presence of Harrison Butker (Michelle Rodriguez), George Karlaftis (John Cena), and Mike Tanna (Ludacris) when we all know your major selling points are Patrick Mahomes (Vin Diesel), Chris Jones (Jason Statham), and Travis Kelce (Tyrese!).
In reality, people will watch the Chiefs because they are an NFL team—the Arizona Cardinals have somehow existed for over 100 years, haven’t they???—and though I am in no way sticking up for the incoherent nonsense that I could barely make it 40 minutes into during the eighth Fast movie (I don’t *think* I saw Fast 9 because it’s gotten way too Marvel-y for me now), people should basically show up to these movies as long as it still go vroom-vroom. You catch my dust?
But budgets gotta budget and teams, like studios, gotta spend if they want to keep the industry of mass entertainment alive. As a close friend once told me, “Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this. Our heroes feel like the best parts of us, and stories feel perfect and powerful… because here… they are.”
Seahawks 2024 Salary Cap and Future Moves
The Seahawks are one of those NFL teams and have made it through most of the 2023 offseason—Geno Smith’s impending free agency (done), free agency (Dre’Mont Jones and Bobby Wagner, done), and the draft (Devon Witherspoon, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, done)—so what’s next? Well, let’s talk about what’s next after what’s next: The 2024 offseason.
For Sunday evening’s Bonus Joe, I’m going to go over Seattle’s 2024 spending power: The cap space, the pending free agents/extension candidates, the restructure candidates, how much money the Seahawks have and how much money the Seahawks could have depending on these key moves; we’ll also talk about how Seattle’s time to add another splash trade or free agent acquisition could be on the horizon and who that might be.

I will also be creating another tier of articles at the $120/year signup in the near future.
Seaside Joe is legitimately the most “undrafted free agent underdog” story of anyone in the Seahawks writing space. In the words of Doug Baldwin, “Everybody doubted us” but we’ve grown rapidly in the last 14 months because of the support of Seahawks fans:
Somehow the Seahawks articles at Seaside Joe feel perfect and powerful… because here…they are…

Relative Budget
Per OvertheCap.com, the Seahawks are projected for $53.1 million in total 2024 cap space, which ranks 14th in the NFL, and $33.2 million in effective cap space (accounting for expenditures not seen in total cap space), which ranks 16th.
