The Seattle Seahawks are paying even less for their top three free agent signings as expected, at least in terms of next season’s salary cap. OvertheCap.com updated Seattle’s page on Wednesday with the following 2025 cap hits:
Sam Darnold: $13.4 million
Cooper Kupp: $9.35 million
DeMarcus Lawrence: $7.68 million
The good news is that Darnold’s cap hit is so low because the Seahawks added two void years to his deal. The offsetting news is that it makes Darnold that much more difficult to release in 2026: If he’s released in 2026, there is $25.6 million in dead money remaining, while the number will be $19.2 million in 2027.
Another reason to make fans believe that Seattle will only draft a QB early if they really, really fall in love with him. Pitting Kirk Cousins against Michael Penix didn’t work out too well for the Falcons.
Taking up a little more than $30 million in 2025 cap space between the three of them, the Seahawks should have roughly $36 million left to spend. However, a significant chunk of this (about one-third) will go to paying the 2025 rookie class and the practice squad.
In addition to these three update, Seattle’s page also has these new figures for 2025:
