I've seen where there's some speculation panthers take QB first off. If so, I wonder if they deal Young - and should Seattle show in tried in him? Kenneth, I know you studied him quite a bit before that draft.
I see Football more deeply for being subscribed here, Seaside. I'm a visual guy, calling things as I see them. Valid considerations. You always deliver, Pal. Next year begins now.
While I’m wary of reading too much into strength of schedule, this looks good. Having said that, Joe is spot-on about the team’s priorities.
They have just got to play better at home in 2025. The Giants game this year was bad enough, but it obscures rolling over for Buffalo and Green Bay* and giving up 172 yards rushing to Isaac Guerendo and Jordan Mason in the home loss to the Niners. As for the Ram game, the less said the better.
* I don’t mind losing to Buffalo and Green Bay. It’s the “thank you sir may I have another” level of play that leads season tickets holders to download the StubHub app.
I mean, we lost to Daniel Jones this year - just because we might avoid 'elite' QB's is no guarantee of anything!
Given RW was on a one-year deal in Pit (where the Broncos were paying the entire contact minus NFL minimum), is there a world where now his contract value has dramatically fallen JS takes a run at brining him back? Not saying I want it, but... it'd be kinda fun maybe. Especially if we did draft someone like Ewers to sit and learn for a year.
In the last 4 Pitt's games, I felt I was watching our Hawks under Russ in his last 5 years here. Instead of rallying his teammates, they retreat. Skill and Promise take a back seat around him. Sorry, but I can't avoid the similarities.
The incongruity between how Russ presents himself and who he really is on the inside finally caught up to him as it always does. That explains the drop-off in my opinion. Grown ass Alpha males don't like people who are fake.
I suspect we raised a generation of sensitive young men with Daddy issues, which even the genius of Pete Carroll failed to address. The cold lack of respect for Pete was obvious on the sidelines after Wilson's "Mental Coach" suddenly died. When rested and healthy, Russ takes on challenges with a focus like few can. I don't see Ballers being patient with any of it, though. Sean Peyton was a bridge too far, clearing out the battery of special assistants Russ brought to Denver.
I don’t see Russ coming back for the same reason as Schotty. It’s hard to be fired from an organization and come back to the same job. Stranger things have happened, I suppose but either of those would shock me. And Russ looked like Broncos Russ those last several games.
I have a funny memory losing to Daniel Jones; Mrs Turtleman and I watched that one at a Starlink station shortly after the storm. I told her what a disappointment he had been and then he proceeded to run all over us and make smart plays. Can’t tell you how many times I have told her a player stinks and he has a career day or is a rising star and put up a zero stat line that game.
The entire NFC West has a theoretically “easy” schedule — the highest schedule is Rams at #17 and even so it’s below .500 at .491. Seattle is tied for #21 at .474, Cards are tied for 27th at .454 and SF has the easiest schedule at .415, substantially easier than the rest of the division. They have a lot of things to work out but they were also very hard hit by injuries. Am concerned about those guys. Although as SSJ says, lots will change between now and September.
But this is the kind of schedule where a division should produce two playoff teams and maybe even three — NFC North and East play each other and have the top 8 toughest schedules in the NFL (Ravens and Steelers round out the top 10). Hopefully those two divisions beat each other into a pulp and make things a little easier for the Hawks.
Yes, the schedule is basically easy because the NFC West teams play the NFC South and AFC South, which both only had one team (the Division winners) over 500. But what makes our schedule a bit tougher is that the 3 “bonus” games (based on our 2nd place in the NFCW this year) are all from tougher divisions that put wildcards into the playoffs this year.
So, we get Pittsburgh, Washington, and Minnesota due to our 2nd place finish - which means the Rams get Philly, Detroit and Baltimore. And AZ gets GB, Dallas and Cincy, and SF gets da Bears, Giants and Browns. Nice reward for last place.
Also, all of our away games outside the division are in the Eastern time zone. And 2 of our 2nd place bonus games (Pitt & Wash) are on the road.
Overall, it looks like a year when the NFCW should place a wildcard, at least based on schedule strength. Fan strategy notes: (1) FFS, don’t sell your tickets to the Vikings game, (2) Book your plans for an away game party in Nashville.
I met a visiting team fan at a game this year who tries to do at least one road game a year. She highly recommended Pittsburgh as a great venue and city and if Russ is still there it could be a fun road trip!
Have been trying to make an away game the last few years - SF and LA so far. Pittsburgh is a cool city, definitely worth considering for an away game. Unfortunately, I was there on the Monday after the 2006 Super Bowl.
Sorry, but this is the NFL. There are no easy games or easy schedules.

A bit like Bo Nix this season. Everyone was canning him. But there he is, playing in a final in his first season.
FWIW, Mike Dugar says that Schotty’s departure was mutual and actually was based on philosophical differences between tween him and Pete Carroll.
The only way I can see RW coming back is if RW buys the club off Jody Allen.
😂 Exactly.
The Texans will advance to the next round, but the Chargers weren’t much of a team.
Agree, I would have taken Seattle straight up if they had been on our schedule
My Brother and I split a Benjie on Peyton and his Broncos. Straight up.
Nor the Steelers so far. You ok out there?
