One thing also overlooked about the Seahawks offseason is recognizing the likely improvement of some very young talented key players on the roster. Players from the 2022, 23, 24 and 2025 draft class. All 5 starting O-linemen will likely improve. Zabel might make a huge jump. The TE room could make a huge jump to the next level. Barner and Arroyo. RB Holani could step up. Ouzts could make a big jump. On defense, Hall, Ivey, O’toole could make jumps. Mills and Murphy could make big jumps. Thomas, O’Connell and Chris Paul could make big jumps at ILB. Jobe could improve, Okada could improve. Even if only half of these players take a step up in performance the 2026 Seahawks team is much better than last year. By not trading to replace these players, by not signing free agents to replace these players, Seattle is making dramatic improvements in their roster without giving up anything for it others than investing in coaches to help bring about the improvement in these players. Coaches salaries do not impact the cap.
This is a “hidden” benefit of offseason improvement. Having such a young team with highly talented young player and coaches who focus on developing players should not be overlooked, or “hidden.” But it’s clearly not even a remote consideration in offseason improvement by the experts who are clearly clueless. I can’t see how this team doesn’t improve upon last year unless terrible injuries befall the Seahawks key players.
