I see the reports this morning are that Geno, who didn't practice Friday, wants to "push through" his injury and play today despite a groin injury. A less-mobile Geno still recovering from an elbow injury does not represent a path to victory vs the Niners, and I hope the team does the right thing and lets him recuperate for his own sake as much as to see if Lock can be the spark to what would be an unexpected victory today.

HooYah, Ken. ButtKickn article. I like it. Let's recall it is Pete who likes to get things moving with his "when do you win 4th-quarter speech". I've long felt we've been running with a governor on our efforts, intentionally holding back plays meant for that time in the season when nobody will have enough time to gin up ways to offset what we're doing. Consider tomorrow's game the first quarter and our last game the 4th quarter in Pete's Long Game. He will have our Men at a fever pitch going into the Wild Card games. He's not a Man who whimpers into retirement, if that has ever been even a consideration. If the Guys respond, we can expect promises will be made to keep The Team intact with an eye on a 3Pete. Maximum effort time, Boyz. Max Effort.

I watched the Kurt Warner Netflix show (“underdogs”) last night. First, F the Rams but second, that is one great story. Trent Green goes down and Warner takes the team to the SB.

So: Lock plays tomorrow and turns in a Warner-esque performance 3TDs in the air plus one on the ground, no INTs.

JSN is the leading receiver tomorrow with 100 yards and two TDs.

On D, we see a throwback performance from Adams with 2 sacks and a FF on CMC, and Witherspoon gets a pick.

Oh, and the Seahawks win!

I'm going to Netflix as soon as I'm done here, Doug. Thanx!

Update: says it's not available in my region (SW WA)

Not available, say what?? I wonder how we can get it in the Great White North then? I am sure it will be available soon, and it is fun to see the progression of Warner from stock boy to QB.

If you are like me, bring Kleenex (sniff). The ending, where they cut in actual footage of Warner and his wife....

IF Drew Lock starts

Drew Lock over 50 yards rushing

What Ken says. Plus this. We put Jarran Reed, our stoutest, best, most consistent, most angry D-lineman on Trent Williams to go mano a mano. His job: beat Williams into retirement. Two: Michael Jackson in for Woolen. Love ya, Riq. We need a tackler. Jackson's job: attack. Put your helmet in McCaffery's gut, put your arms around him, grab him with your strong hands and twist him down. No more spinning antics. Maybe Riq in there somehow behind, I don't care Three: J. Adams hovers over center. His job: focus on the ball: as soon as it twitches, get around the center, into the backfield, get to the ball. He should be able to do it. He should be faster than a center, faster than a guard. Watch Michael Bennett tapes. Every snap. This is your job. Get the ball. Okay. That's enough for now. I'll be back when I have more great ideas.

Re tackling, we’re not any better worse than any other team. What I don’t see out of the defense—except for Witherspoon—is pursuit. The great Pete Carroll defenses always knew where the ball was and went to it. They rarely had the issue of individual tacklers on an island.

Yeah, sometimes they just seemed to be running side by side, as if they were on the same team. And they need more gang tackling. Too much one guy having to do it all by himself. The others need to get there quicker and make sure he's down.

So I’ve noticed this too. Not very many players flying to the ball.

I made the mistake of watching a few Seahawks games from 2013 and 2014. The main difference on defense is how many players then truly flew to the ball carrier. I miss that.

Back in 2011–Carroll’s first season—I saw the team win 24-7 in St Louis. It was the first time I got what he wanted to do on defense and what really stood out was the pursuit. (Particularly noticeable was a rookie LB who always seemed to know where the ball was—I remember thinking that this KJ Wright guy was going to be good!)
