Jamal's fired up personality is going to be missed. He's such energy out there I don't know who fills that?
I have a concern about young guys on the road. It's easy to be flat, it's also easy for refs to see the game through the eyes of the crowd and those calls go against the Hawks.
We're going to need big play guys to make big plays. We don't need an all time QB, but we do need Geno to hit Metcalf where he can run after the catch.
We need Noah to be special.
But I'm with KWIII sending his message to the NFL he's here.
Kenneth gave us all the first game highlights.
Busting off a 74 yarder on his first run and 164yards, 2TDs, and 60 yards in catches sends the message perfectly
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, especially since the Carroll years have been a bit of a blur--it's funny but I remember the 80s and 90s Seahawks better than a lot of the last five years, and the Carroll years generally.
The Wilson years have been truly magical. Here's to a smooth transition to the next chapter in Seahawks dominance!
Don't know if that was sarcastic, Ken, I'm only saying that as I get older the more recent seasons blur together. I remember 2013 and 2014 pretty well but a lot of the make-it-to-the-playoffs seasons are harder for me to keep separate, as well as the roster changes year-to-year. Truly good years, just I don't have the memory storage for the NFL that I had in my teens.
Seahawks score as many TDS as the Niners do fiieldgoals (3 each). Seattle scores 2TDs on the ground (1 each by Penny and Walker) with the third going to Lockett. Final score 21-9 Seahawks.
Thank you for bringing up the week 16 49ers game & 2 incompletions to end it. I may be miss remembering but the last incompletion was a throw away when time had already expired. Not even a hapless Hail Mary, just a toss out of bounds because no one was open. TJak must have lost track of the clock unfortunately.
Ted Ginn Jr was criminally underrated, because he carried an unwarranted tag as I guy who didn't catch the ball well. I don't know how long he played for but it seemed like 15 years. Nobody lasts long in the NFL as a receiver if they struggle to catch the ball. Granted he was no Chris Carter or Steve Largent, but he more than made up for it by being the fastest player on the field in most games he played in.
Seattle has been very very good against the 49ers and as I said yesterday they have a good chance tomorrow if they can hold the Niners rushing attack to a dull roar. Defense will be key as you noted, and has been to get such a lobsided record. I think Jefferson may play end on 1st and 2nd down, and bring Taylor in to rush Lance. Taylor did struggle to hold the edge but on the good side he showed raw speed on a number of occasions. One play inpaticular was when Cody Barton snuffed out the shuffle pass from Wilson causing a loss of a number of yards. The idea was to let Taylor come free to set up the screen, but he was on Wilson so quickly it blew up the timing of the play. I thought it was great that Brooks couldn't hear Clint Hurts play call which was a blitz. Brooks called a defense to defend the screen and the rest is history.
It would be special if Seattle could get pressure on Lance while dropping 7 into coverage. That of course is always a good thing, but even more so tomorrow as Lance would struggle to find the right man to throw to.
I still find 9.5 points is a lot, for the Niners to cover. Their defense and Deebo are special but KW3 could have a number of good catch and run plays. Penny can run well against anyone if Seattle can give him just a little day light to work with.
I feel the same way about this game as I did the Bronco's game, that is I don't know who wins but it should be close.
Agree on all points. -9.5 is a big spread, especially when teams who are ahead routinely give up garbage time points to let the clock burn. And Trey Lance is very, very raw. I don't "care" if an NFL player was making it rain at a strip club, but it's not a good look for a rookie QB who hasn't won his first NFL game yet. Especially when the QB who has taken the team to 2 of the last 3 NFC Championship games is on the roster backing you up. And if Bosa even plays, will he be at 100%? Granted, Nick Bosa at 50% is arguably better than any player on our defense, but if he's hampered that's not ideal for the home team. And this is the debut of Kenneth Walker III! He always shines in debut games! This is the homer in me talking, but best-case scenario for the Seahawks looks almost as good as best case scenario for the more talented team playing at home to me. At -9.5.
My (updated) hopes for the game: Leave the game reasonably healthy. Tackle better. Absolutely PUNISH Lance if he tries to pick up yards with his legs. May KW3 do KW3 things all day, with a dash of Penny thrown in for good measure. Get the ball to DK in space, or at least with a head of steam already. These passes at or behind the LOS aren't utilizing his skillset.
Agreed give DK the ball with a running start. Also enough of Eskridge getting the ball on an end around with no blockers to help. Get him or Goodwin the ball underneath a go rout by Tyler or DK and let them run. Shane Waldfon needs to be more cut throat.
Maybe your right and we throw for 300 and rush for 150. Reality is Lance got picked around his own 45 yard line the Bears only needed a few plays to score. The Niners strength has been defense and they only gave up 17. I would say we need at least 24 points or more to win. Losing Jamal Adams is a big blow to the Hawks defense. He was probably the best tackler on the defense, I figured he would get 6 sacs and a bunch of hurries. His coverage was getting better but he couldn't catch a cold before you put a club on his hand. I truley feel sorry for him as it was easy to tell he was 100% committed and a leader.

Off topic but we’re you able to get your 8 miles for Geno this week?
Haha. Where does 8 come from?
My memory isn’t what it used to be but I thought you were running 4 miles per TD pass. I might have made that up.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, especially since the Carroll years have been a bit of a blur--it's funny but I remember the 80s and 90s Seahawks better than a lot of the last five years, and the Carroll years generally.

No joke, Aggie. The last few years are SO forgettable.
Don't know if that was sarcastic, Ken, I'm only saying that as I get older the more recent seasons blur together. Not being sarcastic.
I had forgotten about the Ted Ginn game. Gee, thanks.
Me too!
Panglossian Prediction (note Pangloss is 1-0):
Seahawks score as many TDS as the Niners do fiieldgoals (3 each). Seattle scores 2TDs on the ground (1 each by Penny and Walker) with the third going to Lockett. Final score 21-9 Seahawks.
I would love to lay money on Walker scoring, but I don't give away money on gambling anymore.

That's really what separates starters from backups, not necessarily the "talent" but just those headscratching decisions.

Would be great to see a game from Eskridge.
The weather was horrible. Same reason I didn't put too much stock in Geno's bad game against NO last year
Fair point

I think the science checks out.
I like your optimism!
